I wanted to know the max/min temp for my freezer -- mostly to see how high it got during power outages. This works well. I got the 4-pack, so I used the others in two bedrooms. It is handy for a rough reference because the precision is limited to about 1/2 degree F. It displays temp in tenths, but I found that the precision is only to about 1/2 degree -- for instance, it jumps from 69.8 to 70.2. Accurate enough to set temp and check for variations, but not exact. Cheaper than mechanical max/min thermometers. Also easy to read and reset. -Chris

All we've ever had before was the typical analog dial refrigerator / freezer thermometer. But those only show the current temp . And you have really look closely to read the tiny temperature markings. I wanted something digital with a temperature history to see if a repaired refrigerator was holding the temperature stable in between checks. I was surprised well these inexpensive digital thermometers work. They were within a single degree of the name brand analog unit. It is very reassuring to see the running average temperatures every time you open the door. With the display's relatively large digits, these units are also MUCH easier to read than an analog dial unit. And their overall size is small relative to the display size. Highly recommended. We just bought another pair for a pair of freezers.

Purchased 7/11, today is 9/17 and the battery is dead....no problem, just replace it right? NOPE. It is nearly impossible to replace without high risk of breaking the thermometer. Once you take it apart, the metal piece that is holding the battery will not remove to allow the battery to slide out. I have replaced key fob batteries on many car brands, without issues. This is poorly designed and should be considered single use. If there are videos on how to do this without breaking the unit, i'm open to it.
