My former meat thermometer finally died, and I had come to rely on it for many foods. This replacement is even better, for several reasons: The display is quite large so easy to read even when you are reaching into the hot oven at arms length. The magnetized format is wonderful, as I can keep it on the side of the fridge always ready to grab when needed. The surface of the probe washes very easily, making it quickly ready for its next use. It is reasonably priced and even comes with an extra battery. So, with all these positives, why only four stars? Because, after purchasing, I received a letter (how did they get my mailing address anyway!) from the manufacturer offering me a cash card if I would give this a 5 star rating! I understand they may be a small firm trying to get their foot in the door so to speak, but I think this could compromise the quality of the ratings as a general rule. In fact, I have waited some time to submit a review as I debated whether to even rate it at all, but this is a really good product, so you should know this is an honest review that was not influenced by that disappointing approach. ... show more

Perfect for a quick temperature check. This thermometer is light weight, compact, easy to read display. The folding capability makes it easy to store. The design includes reference temperatures for different meats and poultry.

This cooking thermometer has taken the guessing out of cooking meat. Asking yourself is that chicken really done and is the guest going to get food poisoning. The probe folds up to the handle and turns it off. A great feature that takes running the battery down away. Very quick response once inserted into any food. I like the fact the manufacturer includes a nice food chart on various foods too which is a big help. It has been very durable albeit it’s not thrown around but rather it has a hole in the handle that gives added grip area. Just try to refrain from swinging it around like a fast draw cowboy in a gun fight. That’s when you might loose it and sling it in the air and watch it slam to the ground. ... show more
