    • Cheap converter for old tv with limited recording ability
This is the second one I have purchased. The first died after three years of constant use, possibly from a surge in the power line. I have a tivo on my main setup (don't get me started on how tivo had a perfect user interface in generation one, and is now messed up) and wanted a backup for my bedroom tv. This little thing does the job with no fuss. It can record to a flash drive, but setting it up to record a show is enough of a pain that I just use it as a tuner and heaven-sent mute button. Does a good job but doesn't seem to have a long lifespan. Works well w/the Vizio I won that's just monitor (no coax) so I needed a converter. I like that I can record w/it.

Easy installation. Not sure how long this will last, the previous one I had not of the same brand, but very similiar to this one only difference is name, only lasted 2 couple of years, and, it wasn't used much! Update: Purchased July1,2023. Stopped working August 9,2023. Do not buy!!!!

This device is much more than a digital converter. It does contain a fine tuner that receives all the local channels in high definition, but it also does a fine job of recording programs or portions of programs and pausing live TV. It is a mini DVR!

Use this on my tv and it works ok.

    • Brings in signal nicely, but the remote is another story.
The box brings in television signals well enough with a digital antenna. It records television programs also (with a flash drive stick). But the buttons on the remote have to be pressed hard. Although, the more I use it, the easier the buttons work without pressing too hard. So I guess the remote has to be "broken in", which I've never had to do with other electronic products in the past. Overall, it's a nice box for the money. But if I were you, I'd wait for it to be on sale. Anything over $24.99 for this product is a rip-off. ... show more
