  • Good recording, guide and more.
Works very well, I love the recording feature on it. It also has a guide function called EPG. It works great, and is very helpful for finding shoes in advance and being able to record them. This also picks up channels my old box could not pick up. You can also take out the USB which has the recordings and watch them in another device! ... show more

  • A great buy!
I didn't get any antenna channels, but I live in a very rural area. I bought this primarily to have something that would allow me to use my external harddrive to watch content on my television. 2TB harddrive, for reference. Easy set up. Very small size. Definitely recommend.

  • It works with a computer monitor with 2 HDMI
I am able to use on my computer monitor. Worked well with my leaf antenna. The picture quality is based on your antenna and not the device. I got 60 plus channels in my area. You may need to place your antenna different directions to get good pictures and re-do the scanning once a while. This has nothing to do with the device. It is a nature of over the air antenna. ... show more

  • A stick that fits behind the TV
This is a stick that acts like a digital converter box. It stays behind the TV with a sensor placed in front. I use it to record programs for later viewing, using a USB stick which attaches to it. I have an external antenna and use the HDMI connection. The instructions are sketchy and incomplete. To record, press EPG and select the show. OK twice to record event. Odd that the remote (needs 2 AAA batteries) has letters on the number buttons, like a phone. Works fine so far! ... show more

  • Only good for watching live TV and nothing else.
UPDATED April 2025: Decreasing from 2 down to 1 star. It's been a few months. Now the unit frequently and mysteriously drops some channels from my Favorites list, especially the local ABC and PBS channels. Those get very strong signals too. It also will drop scheduled recordings and my weekly programs will not record because it's disappeared from the To-Do list. Sometimes it will drop the Favorite channel that I have a scheduled recording for, but still have it programmed to record only without the channel showing. Therefore, it doesn't record anything since it doesn't know what channel to record from. It will not allow me to Edit it and add the channel back. I have to delete the programming completely and start over. Essentially, this only works as an antenna decoder. All the other functions frequently fail. UPDATED FEB 2025: Been using this a few weeks now. The unit has since started acting up: 1. Now sometimes it will shut down by itself while watching TV and then either reboot or stay off. If it stays off, the remote won't turn it back on so I have to unplug the box and force a reboot. 2. Video and audio will get out of sync where video is delayed slightly. This is when watching live TV. Haven't recorded enough on it to see if it routinely happens on DVR. Rebooting the box is the only fix...until it starts happening again. I have my antenna split to another TV with built-in tuner. This delay doesn't occur on that TV so I know it's the ZJBox. 3. DVR recordings and live TV show pixelations now and then even with very strong signal strength. Again, my other TV with built-in tuner doesn't do this. For $20, you get what you paid for. I just wish someone would make a simple tuner/decoder that just stays active all the time without a "brain" that has to boot up. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Finally cut the satellite cord, but still needed to be able to watch local broadcasts and record occasionally. My TV has a built-in tuner, but my components are in another room and I didn't want to fish coax cable through the attic/wall then take the TV off the wall to connect the coax, etc. I opted for this tuner so I could install it at the receiver where my satellite box was and am using it with a wireless IR blaster relay. Setup was pretty straightforward. However, I docked a star because there are no instructions on how to use the recording features and the buttons you use for other functions don't always match what's written/shown on the instruction sheet. So, I had to go through quite a bit of trial and error and figure things out. I was finally able to get it all set up with favorite channels and am using a PNY 256G USB drive for the recordings. So far, everything seems to be working. Things I managed to figure out about the recording/DVR: 1. Instructions say the guide will show you upcoming shows 14 days in advance, but it actually only goes 23 hours ahead. So you can't schedule to record a show in advance until the day before when the show actually appears on the guide. I did test it on a show that was starting in 20 minutes and it recorded perfectly. 2. Hitting the Record button will start recording what you're currently watching, BUT you have to hit the STOP button to stop recording. As far as I can tell, it will not stop recording until you press Stop. 3. You can schedule a recording in advance, but it must be at least 2 minutes before the show starts. Otherwise you'll get a notice on the screen that says it's not available or something. 4. While watching live TV, the playback buttons will allow you to pause/rewind/fast forward. Screen calls it a Time Shift. Not sure how long you can keep it paused and such though. Honestly, if you just need a very basic HD/1080p tuner with DVR capability, then this will work just fine. I didn't want all the added features like streaming to other TVs or installing apps/paying for subscriptions with the $100+ price of fancier tuners. For this price of $20 though, you have to be willing to deal with the VERY rudimentary interface and lack of recording instructions. ... show more

  • best that I have had
I live in a very remote area far away from most over the air stations. I have owned quite a few of these, and this unit is clearly the best unit that I have ever had

  • Pretty good for the price
Amazon’s pointer for ZJBox support website points to a domain that is for sale. Does not go to seller’s support contact site. The ZJBox learning mode instructions are simple enough. It learned the audio volume up and down for my Samsung just fine. However it did not learn the TV power on/off function. UPDATE: after four failed attempts, then writing this review, I tried again, this time it worked! The device was otherwise easy to install, learned my over the air digital broadcast TV stations to the limits of the antenna and is easy to operate. I did not employ the USB storage play, recording or scheduled recording features. ... show more

  • Good digital TV receiver/converter.
I have a TV that only receives analog channels. Well, this receiver/converter allows me to receive digital TV channels OTA. At first I was concerned about reports that the remote didn't work well but with a little experience it works perfectly. You should see the picture quality with a good monitor. It is amazing. ... show more
