So where to begin? I was considering buying a nearly $400 Husqvarna gas chainsaw. I’ve taken down 75 trees in my yard of varying thickness with a friends 16” and 20” saws. So about after 50, I decided to buy this little guy for the remainder, with intent of using it for cutting limbs and branches. Cue my friend getting forced to work overtime like crazy. So I started to experiment with this saw to cut down the remaining trees. Now I still had some thicker ones that would definitely test this saw, being it’s only 12”. But wow. Super impressed. The saw had plenty of power to slice through not only the branches, but I literally sawed about 15-20 trees down with this and fully cut them up. Oak, Maple, Pine, Sassafras. No problems. Had to change the chain once during this due to dulling but it was a lot of cutting. All I have to saw is wow is this convenient! First it’s light. Very easy maneuvering and one hand cutting is super easy when necessary. Powerful enough to cut through trees bigger than 12”. Though a bigger saw would be easier, duh. But it’s nice to know it’s capable. Most importantly, the battery life. I haven’t been more impressed with a battery powered anything in my life. These batteries power this saw for a long time and I’ve only needed to change the battery once during the day while cutting up multiple trees. It’s a small saw but you could use this all day without too much exertion. Quiet and perfect for thinner trees and branches but won’t disappoint you if you need to cut thicker trees. It does use some oil so make sure you have some. Amazing tool. Would give it 10 stars if I could. I ended up buying the Dewalt 20v weed trimmer, pole saw, and hedge trimmer as well. I was skeptical, but now I'm glad I bought this chainsaw. Over the years, I have had several gas chain saws for cutting firewood and clearing brush. I sold my gas saw because, in recent years, they've made rules that won't permit us to burn wood in the fireplace. But I still needed a smaller saw for trimming the trees around my house. This chainsaw meets the bill! You don't need to wear earplugs! And by the time the battery needs a recharge, so do I! It does leak a little oil, but less than my Husqvarna or Craftsman did. This 12" saw does exactly what I bought it for. I'm off grid and wanted a saw that was both light and powerful, as well as quiet and easy to use. This saw is great. Wow. I was skeptical when I bought this, mainly for cutting up stuff once I had already dropped it with the Stihl 271 I use all the time. I'm pollarding 28 60 foot tall sycamore trees and this thing is a beast. I am on my 4th one, cutting through 6 and 8 inch toppers and it's magnificent, I'm still on the first chain! I don't even take the Stihl up in the basket anymore unless I'm cutting 10+ inch limbs. Is it as fast as a gas saw? No. But it's easy to handle, lightweight, 5Ah batteries last a long time and it's got grunt when you get it in a bind. 10/10 would and will buy again! ... show more

I like the very easy method of adjusting chain tension. Also, like the sightglass for observing bar/chain oil level....will need to reference frequently as this saw goes through the bar/chain lube like none of my Stihl saws ever have (uses a lot). Oh well. Not that difficult to keep sufficient level of bar/chain oil. Fantastic motor paired with the 20v batteries. I actually went with a Waitley 20v set of batteries that have worked very well (Dewalt batteries so expensive). I have "pushed the saw" to just keep cutting and cutting on some harder cuts that I have have it made and the motor performed flawlessly. I have used this saw A LOT for cutting trees down, clearing brush and processing felled trees and "no" , I'm not a city boy who this is their first chainsaw. This comes with a 12" bar guide so plan your cuts accordingly. While I bought a 2nd battery that I always bring with me, thus far, I haven't had to swap out batteries on the fly as "Battery #1" just keeps going and going until I am done for the day. Sharp chain but we all know they get dull when you use them so one needs to locate good quality replacement chains. Note, I'm a landowner maintaining 20+ acres. I still use my Stihl chainsaws for bigger cuts but I've been surprised at how many cuts the Dewalt is capable of making. So handy for processing felled trees, no need to keep shutting the gas chain off/on while cutting branches and such from the tree. ... show more
