  • One of Dewalts best cordless vacuums
Number of Items: 1
I purchased this for light job site cleanup after small jobs, and have since purchsed one for my house and 2 more for my Carpentry team. I have found it to be one of the best cordless vacuums I have used. It comes with many attachments for versatility. It has very powerful suction. One downside is the small capacity, it sucks so good it can fill up quick and the filter is so good it will fill up with fine particulate. Emptying and dumping the tank is an easy click and the filter just pops right off. The battery life is OK compared to the tank capacity, you can vacuum a couple rooms on a 5ah 20v but the 60vs are much better. Another downside is it is for dry only, don't use it on any wet cleanups. ... show more

  • Excellent Portable Vacuum
Number of Items: 1
I have a Aerus Lux upright that is a fantastic vacuum. Unfortunately, it weighs a ton and you have to haul an accessory caddy along with it. It is a pain to haul it out for that little job. I am always struggling to get ceilings and corners because I have to constantly move and reposition the vacuum to clean. Then there is the fear of pulling it over trying to reach a corner. My parents and brother have been using battery powered vacuums for a while and they love them. My concern was the batteries. I didn't want to trash the unit if the battery went bad nor did I want to have to hunt down and buy a replacement battery that costs as much as the unit itself. I thought it would be great if the unit used the Dewalt batteries I had for a drill I got as a Christmas present and here it is. This vacuum is great. It it extremely high quality and very durable. It's light and portable. It's always ready to go for that little job. It makes cleaning ceilings and corners a breeze. It has excellent suction for it's size. As I mentioned, it uses a standardized battery pack that is easy to find and can be used for other things. It also has a bright LED to illuminate what you are cleaning. The included accessories let's you do almost anything with the exception of carpets. This is either a plus or minus as units like these do only a basic job at vacuuming carpets when they can, while heavily diminishing battery life using a powered carpet attachment. All in all, it is definitely great for around the house and it is just what I was looking for. The drawback to this vacuum is that it is optimized for shop use. It lacks the ability for powered attachments if that is a must have. It also lacks a flashy status panel that lets you see the battery life and adjust the suction to maximize battery life. Fortunately, the batteries do have status lights built into them. The unit also does not come with a battery or charger which adds to the overall cost to getting started, unless you already have them, which may put some people off because they are not cheap. The battery life is highly dependent on the batteries you have. My 1.5Ah batteries last under 10 minutes. The 5Ah batteries supposedly last over 20 minutes. I just purchased one on sale and I would say that is accurate. There are also much larger batteries available. This vacuum is definitely one to take a look at. It's light, powerful and extremely well built. It uses easy to find DeWalt batteries. Definitely a must have if you already have batteries and a charger. ... show more

  • This is a stick vacuum to rule them all!
Number of Items: 1
I've gone through a few different stick vacuums over the years -- supplementing my nice Miele traditional vac for deep-cleaning and my reliable Rigid shop-vac for bigger jobs -- including trying a number of fancier, more expensive options as well as some generic knock-offs and cheap dust-busters .... But I was always running into various problems with cordless stick vacuums -- they often seem to break down easily, aren't easy to get repaired, they don't run for more than a few minutes between recharges, and/or the suction power isn't great, etc... I especially ran into a lot of problems with the batteries and chargers with various stick vacuum brands -- like, don't get me started on the year-long battle I had with a Greenworks stick vacuum, which was almost a decent vacuum except that it destroyed batteries constantly.... Anyway, I should've started with good old trusty DeWalt -- every DeWalt tool I've owned has lasted for years and years and years and (knock on wood) every DeWalt battery I own has likewise never stopped working (even a lot of the generic 3rd-party knock-off batteries made for DeWalt products tend to be pretty great in my experience so far).... And so far this DeWalt 20V Cordless Handheld Vacuum is living up to the same standards I've come to expect from this brand -- it just works! It feels durable, it's got good (not super-amazing, but quite good) suction power), it's fairly lightweight but doesn't feel cheap, compatible HEPA filters are easy to come by, its easy to clean, and it works perfectly with all of my existing (OEM) DeWalt and (generic) DeWalt-compatible 20v batteries... It also somehow seems to run for a relatively long amount of time on even a single battery, compared to other stick vacuums I've owned. Oh, and another bonus: This uses pretty standard sizes for the attachments, so it's actually compatible with the hoses and attachments of the vacuums of a number of other brands. So, for instance, I'm able to repurpose the attachments from my Greenworks stick vacuum to use with this DeWalt vacuum instead. (One caveat: The DeWalt vacuum does NOT supply power to attachments -- so even though a lot of attachments from other brands will fit, if it was an attachment that needed power -- like, say, a floor attachment that had a spinning brush on it -- the attachment will work for suctioning air, but the components that need power won't spin, etc.) So -- look, admittedly, this DeWalt vacuum doesn't have any of the bells and whistles of some fancier stick vacuums, but it also costs a lot less than any of the really great stick vacuums that are out there, while being far more reliable and easy to use than almost anything else within its price range. Another negative is that although DeWalt tools often come with some smart storage options -- this item does not. It just comes with a rather disappointing net bag. No nice custom-fit box, no wall-hanging hardware, no way to connect everything together for storage, etc... But I just put a few big, basic garage-hooks on the wall and hung the vacuum and attachments from that, and, while not pretty, that's working fine. Also, if you're thinking about buying this, keep in mind that it sadly doesn't come with a battery -- so that is an additional cost to deal with, if you're not already part of the DeWalt battery ecosystem. But it's a good ecosystem to get into, if you're thinking about getting any other power tools or items like this. ... show more

  • Great for picking up clumps of dog hair
Number of Items: 1
I didn't get this hand held vacuum to clean the whole house, I have a corded upright Hoover for that. I have two medium sized Golden Retrievers and with their long dog hair, they shed all year round. I get fur balls that accumulate in little places in my house, especially near cold-air intake vents. I hate picking up fur with my hands and it's a hassle to dig out the big wheeled Hoover, plug it in, assemble the hose nozzles and then drag it all over the house just to get a the dust bunnies. I needed a battery powered hand held with good suction that wasn't a piece of crap. Enter the DeWalt DCV501HB. It was an easy choice. I already have several battery powered tools using the 20V Max battery, and I have four batteries. The other DeWalt vacuums were older and comments said suction was low. This model was more recently introduced in May, 2022 and complaints about the older models were addressed with this one. It comes with many more accessories than I thought, and all of them can be stored in the included net bag in one small space. I can expand my initial need to easily clean the car and dog hair on the furniture, everything I need is included. The storage canister using a HEPA filter isn't big enough for my whole house cleaning needs but it's perfect for what I have in mind. The suction is plenty strong. It's not as loud as I thought it would be and my hearing is important to me. I always wear ear plugs when I vacuum. At arms length, about three feet to my ears it measured 79 decibels, C weighted. Conversation is about 65-70 db, a gas powered lawn mower is 90 db. The noise of this vacuum is not overly loud in my opinion. The HEPA filter is large, well matched to the size of the hand held. The DeWalt filter did not come with an external foam sock so I ordered four HEPA filters/8 foam rewashable outer filters. I grabbed one of the generic foam socks and put it on the DeWalt filter. It fit perfectly and was just what I wanted. to get more life out of the stock HEPA filter. This is a great tool for my grab-n-go needs to pick up globs of dog hair. I will be using the 20V Max 2.5 Ah batteries, the small ones. The larger and heavier 5 Ah batteries are just not needed for how I will be using this tool. Be aware that this tool does not come with a battery or charger. It's OK to buy the generic batteries and charger although the OEM DeWalt batteries are better, albeit more expensive. This is a great little vacuum even if you aren't a devoted DeWalt guy like I am. If you already have DeWalt batteries and a charger then this one is a no-brainer. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • The only flaw is that the filter needs regular cleaning.
Number of Items: 1
This is without a doubt the best hand vac I've ever owned. While a Dyson has an amazing vortex filtration system where you don't have to clean the filter, it also has three major drawbacks in that the battery pack is not quick change, the cleaning power is quite low, and they're fairly expensive. Our Dyson V8 which we just got rid of would go about maybe 4 minutes on high power? Pathetic. On a 5AH battery this DeWalt will go 15-20 minutes easy. If you have two or three of the DeWalt 20 volt batteries lying around in this thing is an absolute must. I happen to have at least eight of these batteries and you can vacuum pretty much indefinitely at full power on this thing with instantaneous battery swaps. And it uses the same battery as my blower drills saws flashlights etc. That is so awesome. In a future version DeWalt should include a vortex style dust separator like a lot of the other vacs then this thing would be pretty much perfect. Noise level is pretty reasonable. The headlight on this thing works very well. The floor attachment in the photo is extremely simple and robust but it works very well on smooth floors and short pile carpet and gets under and around furniture very impressively. There is no attachment with a carpet beater bar but those things tend to get wound up with fibers and stop working for one reason or another. (Looking at you Dyson.) As you might tell I'm pretty heavily bought into the DeWalt 20 volt system as I use power tools all day long. I went with DeWalt because the quality is pretty high, the tool selection is extremely good, the prices are fair, and the batteries are bulletproof. The one thing is their batteries are just too expensive. You can also get Waitley knock off batteries that are quite a bit cheaper, I have both DeWalt and Waitley batteries. I have 12-year-old dewalt lithium batteries that are still perfectly fine, where as the Dyson lithium batteries gave up the ghost after about 3 years. I will probably get a second one of these vacs. ... show more

  • Daily use and no issues ❤️ 💪
Number of Items: 1
I’ve been using the Dewalt DCV501H HEPA Hand Vac every single day, Monday through Friday, at our local Clinic since the day I bought it. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and definitely recommend it. The Pros: Powerful Suction: For a hand vac, the suction is impressive and handles daily clinic cleaning with ease. Battery Performance: I use a 5Ah XR battery, and I’m happy with the performance. It hits that recommended 22-minute runtime consistently. I don't mind the consumption at all and usually keep a few extra batteries on hand to swap out—it's definitely worth it. Easy Maintenance: The HEPA filter is very easy to clean using compressed air/air pressure to blow it out. Room for Improvement: The Connection: The tube connection really needs a locking mechanism. It tends to fall apart whenever I grab it while it’s sitting upside down in my car. Included Accessories: It would be great if Dewalt included an extra filter in the box. I ended up purchasing a multi-filter kit separately to keep things running smoothly. Bottom Line: It’s a reliable workhorse for daily use. If they fixed the attachment security, it would be perfect! ... show more

  • Great
Number of Items: 1
I had bought a few vacuum cleaners and been looking for the right one that I can use for household chores. I literally look forward to vacuuming our wood floor because this vacuum is portable, easy to use, has the right accessories to clean the floor moldings and excellent well designed for all around use. We have area rugs that I belatedly learned to not use vacuum with beater brush. This vacuum does not have it. When I vacuumed one of our area rugs I have to vacuum in one direction not back and forth because it sucks the rugs and I have to hold it down with my foot. I was amazed after I cleaned the vacuum the amount of dirt and dust that was collected. I consider this portable vac a joy to use. ... show more
