The DEWALT 20V MAX XR Brushless Cordless Pole Saw comes equipped with an 8-inch Bar and Chain to handle all of your pruning needs. It features a high efficiency brushless motor that delivers up to 96 cuts per charge. The well balanced design and durable pole shaft extends up to 10 ft. for a total reach of 15 ft. Trees were getting too tall. As I get older I try to limit times on ladders. Cuts well and is lightweight. Be careful setting down on concrete since oil from the chain will leak onto. Learned that lesson.

    • Great Product but It Leaks Oil Everywhere!

I purchased this pole saw because of my previous good experience with DeWalt tools, but after only using it for about 15 mins, I am very disappointed. It cut through the first few branches with ease, however, a twig got caught inside of the casing that covers a portion of the chain saw blade, so I have to open the cover to remove it. After putting the saw back together and trying to cut more branches (1-2" in thickness or less), the saw would not cut through anything. I have checked and confirmed it was reassembled correctly and that the blade was tightened correctly, put it will not cut. Additionally, this saw spews out the chain oil all over the place making both the saw and the surrounding area very oily and dirty. I would not recommend this saw for these reasons. Update: Since I wrote my original review, I have tried to "flip" the chain around and see if it made a difference in its ability to cut - it did! I am able to admit when I got it wrong, since there is no clear way of telling when the chain is on the saw correctly or not (directionally), I apparently installed it incorrectly, resulting in its inability to cut through anything. My faith in DeWalt tools has been restored. I have upgraded my score on this product, but still see the oil "gushing" out of the chain saw as an issue, creating a mess when in use and emptying the oil reservoir quickly. ... show more

Easy to assemble, I already had Chain oil from my other Gas powered chainsaw so filled oil chamber & installed battery after overnight charging. Worked great & battery lasted approx. 1-1/12 hours of use. I still had power in the battery when finished. Used it to trim & cut branches off my large Oak tree. With all extensions attached it does get heavy at any angle from straight up, so be careful reaching. I had bought a cheap $99 unit before & broke 30 min. later so don't go cheap at least for me was not worth it. I like the battery type because no cable to watch out for branches dropping on it. So I'm not a professional landscaper, but for a homeowner this is now my second favorite tool now. Worked flawlessly. Owned the home for 20 years, and maybe once or twice hired a guy to do tree pruning. Had a lot of tree branches that had since grown over the roof, which clogs gutters and a pathway for insects. This tool handled them easy. Hours of cutting (one recharge cycle needed) at least a 1000 lbs of branches up to 6 inches thick. Nothing took more than 20 seconds to make the cut. Yes, the extension bows a bit, but if it was solid steel it would be much heavier. I did have to adjust the chain (tighten slightly) after the first hour, but that's common, chains always stretch the most when new from my experience with motorcycles and such Idk how some people commenting the oil to leak. lve stored it right side up, upside down, and sideways, no leaks while sitting. Maybe I just got a good one. I guess if you used it daily like pro's it's not the best, but today I saved well over $500 vs hiring a guy, and got a new tool out of it to boot. I'm sure it's ready for more in a couple years when I have to use it again ... show more
