  • Works great for me!
Style: Pole Saw Kit Only
Ok this arrived today, and it is great. It goes together very easy out of the box. And works with my other DeWalt batteries, so It got a real work out. I have 4 other batteries all charged so went on a trimming spree and just swapped batteries in seconds. All the trimming I did I would guess would be the equivalent of 6 maybe 7 trees and it did great. Cuts nice and fast too. Now it was a little sketchy holding it with one hand over my head for a hard to reach branch. But likely more on me than it. ... show more

  • Great Dewalt, Fantastic Seller!
Style: Pole Saw Kit Only
First and foremost I would like to start with the seller CPO, the package arrived opened with the factory tape missing, in no way did this leave their facility like this, when I opened the package I noticed the battery was missing, so my only assumption is that somewhere along the line in transit that event took place. At first I immediately engaged a return but then I contacted amazon and CPO responded super fast, I explained the situation, and they took care of it right away, so fantastic 5 star seller! It sure beat repackaging and hauling this thing to be shipped back and waiting. So I’m extremely happy! As far as the tool, If you are a Dewalt guy like me, what can I say, it’s just another amazing tool to have in your arsenal.. I just used it for the first time yesterday, just like dewalts small 20volt chainsaw you will need bar and chain oil for the chain to be lubricated while cutting, so make sure you add that to your list. I normally buy that by the gallon as I have numerous chainsaws however if you’re just using this one a quart will most likely get you going for an entire season depending on the amount of trees you are trimming. I wound up trimming approximately 35/40 trees around 10-12’ up and did so within about 45 minutes and I did not use the third extension pole As stated in some unhappy reviews that expected this tool to measure out to be 15’ it’s not, and you need to understand that’s its based off the height of a normal human added to it. So the tool does approximately measure out to a little over 9ft in total when all 3 extensions are used so indeed you will unless you are a very short person be able to get the advertised height standing on your own two feet. Beyond that height you will be on a ladder. The trigger safety on the handle that needs to be engaged while operations takes a little getting used to, little tricky at first but then you get the groove fairly quickly. I also read some other reviews about the connector between extension vibrating loose and indeed that does happened, I had to tighten mine 3-4 times during the use, no biggie and completely understandable given the vibration and maneuvering one has to do while trimming. All in all the tool worked great, cut right through the limbs and trees with ease and quickness. When done I checked remaining battery level and it only took one bar away from the fully charged battery. So it was a great buy as usual with nearly all of Dewalts tools, no regrets, and again an amazing seller! Thanks Dewalt and CPO! ... show more

  • Great pole mounted chain saw for trimming dead branches
Style: Pole Saw Kit Only
This is a great tool - in the Dewalt line. The 20V max battery means you will likely run out of arm strength before the battery runs down. The three sections are easily connected and disconnected. The pole and saw are mostly balanced by the weight of the battery - but this is still a heavy tool that you will be using to reach high branches. This tool is ready to use - except for the oil to lubricate the bar. Readily available at your home center. The motor doesn’t turn the blade at the same RPM as a gas engine would. Cutting smaller dead branches is quite easy. Cutting larger limbs will be a challenge to one’s arm and shoulder muscles. It took me less than 20 minutes to trim out the dead wood from my honey locust tree - a neighbor with the same tree paid $600 to have a contractor remove the dead wood from his tree. The battery charger is included. I keep one charger in my garage for the pole saw and another charger in my downstairs wood shop for my Dewalt drill and impactor. The batteries are interchangeable. One could work for hours just by swapping batteries between two or more tools. Please note: Replacement chains are readily available and reasonably priced Dewalt advises not operating this saw from any kind of ladder. Swinging the entire assembly is tough enough - using a ladder might be downright dangerous. I am very pleased with the tool - its design and construction - and expect to use this pole saw for years to come. ... show more

  • Read my review for solid insight & answers!!!
Style: Pole Saw Kit Only
Overall it's a GREAT saw but let's get into it: Does it have the power of a gas saw? NO.....you can't touch the raw power of a 2-cycle gasoline saw, this saw is perhaps 60-70% as much power as a gasser but if you own 2-cycle gasoline equipment you need to use it almost weekly or else, no matter how much you try, the carb gets gummed-up and you still have to keep gas, mix the oil into it, try to remember if you mixed the oil already, flush the equipment when done and it still may not start-up when you next go to start it: THAT is a pain!!!! With electric, it's straight-up charge & go....it ALWAYS runs, no fuel, no mixing, no old gas and that's well worth the price of admission!!!! So with less power what does this mean? It means you have to use your brain and be thoughtful: don't let the saw get pinched as it's cutting and the limb leans into the cut....you will get stuck and start cursing. This can happen on a gasser but the gasser, with more power, has a better chance of getting through it. So, with this saw you have to plan your cut and avoid pinching the blade, big deal! The saw itself is not 15-feet...duh! They advertise a reach of 15-feet.....so an average guy HOLDING THE SAW can reach about 15-feet off the ground, it's not your 6-feet of height + 15-feet of saw The trigger was designed by lawyers who don't want the company to get sued....so yeah, it's a wee bit cumbersome but any idiot with a zip tie or electrical tape can circumvent that issue. Yes, it uses bar chain oil...any good saw will do that, it makes it faster and stays sharp. But the oil, use it, get over it. Also, it's NOT an 18" lumber saw, you're not going to use it to take down forest or build your 3-story log cabin, it's basically a trimming saw but with clever tact you can easily work on up to 12-inches of diameter but be smart and don't race a gasser. I wish the head pivoted for different angles, that would be a nice upgrade/change. Beyond that, it's a great saw but understand: there is no perfect tool for everything. You can't pry a paint can open with a tiny flat-head screwdriver and you can't use a huge flat-head screwdriver on the tiny screws used for watches or sunglasses. If you need a saw for light to medium duty tree trimming for trees up to 18-feet than this is GREAT. I bought it, use it, enjoy it and would buy it again. It's DeWalt, not some Chinese junk that will break and you'll never find service and somebody will always be ready to buy it (or steal it) from you. ... show more

  • Powerful pole saw. Powerful pole saw.
Style: Pole Saw Kit Only
This saw surprised me. Much stronger, faster cutting and longer lasting battery. Got to help clean up storm damage. Proved to be extra handy and useful. Pecan/hickory tree limb. Got some time using this saw under my belt. Overall the saw is performing well. Cuts fast. Cautious and trying to be gentle. With the middle extension it is a little wobbly. Most of the time just use the two main pieces. Chain stays sharp and easy to adjust. Storing after putting oil in is a problem. Instructions says to empty oil after use. I don’t. What I do is store in a plastic 5 gallon bucket with an old tee shirt in the bottom. Store a spare chain, all three pole pieces and some bar chain oil with space for more. Stored like this if it drips it is contained. The oil tank and bar are below the motor. Surprised how fast this cuts 6-7” hardwood. Cut thru a 10” hackberry cutting from both sides. Just be careful if the bar gets pinched move the limb instead of forcing the saw to get free. Been carrying on tractor to cut the smaller stuff and grape vines clearing storm damage. Nice not to have to start up the big saw and the extra reach is every nice. Can grab a grapple full of debris and cut the vines and stuff that is too long to carry off. ... show more

  • Name Brand & worth it.
Style: Pole Saw Kit Only
Easy to assemble, I already had Chain oil from my other Gas powered chainsaw so filled oil chamber & installed battery after overnight charging. Worked great & battery lasted approx. 1-1/12 hours of use. I still had power in the battery when finished. Used it to trim & cut branches off my large Oak tree. With all extensions attached it does get heavy at any angle from straight up, so be careful reaching. I had bought a cheap $99 unit before & broke 30 min. later so don't go cheap at least for me was not worth it. I like the battery type because no cable to watch out for branches dropping on it. Very good unit to work with & easy to clean after done. ... show more

  • Must be a return... casually packed. Charger contacts bent.
Style: Pole Saw Kit Only
Just what I needed. In a half hour I had a mountain of limbs in the back yard and my ham radio antennas are out in the clear. It is probably a little light for commercial use but just right for me. I didn't need to use an extension pole.... With the motor/saw up at full height it would take a pretty good arm and back to handle it. Use some strategy; don't get the saw hung up in a tree or you will have to hire an arborist to get it free. After 2 days...I'm glad I got it. Handy and very easy to use. After 2 months.... a great tool. I'm kinda wobbly at 84 but I can get a lot done in a short time with this great tool. It is a safe tool. Safety trigger, etc. ... show more

  • Buy these battery tools!
Style: Pole Saw Kit Only
I have start by saying that I had to return the first Dewalt pole saw I purchased. It’s the only Dewalt 20v tool I had a problem with but I ordered another one and feel safe to say it was a just one bad apple. First one worked for fine for about 20 branches and stopped working altogether. I ordered another one because I absolutely love these 20v battery tools by Dewalt and wanted to give it another chance as I have the chainsaw, pole saw, weed trimmer, and hedge trimmer. The second pole saw did not disappoint. I don’t know what it is about this pole saw but it shreds branches with ease. I haven’t had an issue with any size of branches yet. Most of all, the battery life of these tools is amazing and they all have good power. I’ve never been more impressed with a battery powered anything. Pole length is long and sturdy (hold the laughter) and easy to use. Good buy. ... show more
