I am a DeWalt guy always have been I have more DeWalt cordless tools than most of the subs that work for me, I guess I got that from my father he is a DeWalt man, I recently bought this chainsaw just because I've always had a gas powered chainsaw a McCullough or stil Even had an echo once. I know what a chainsaw supposed to do and how fast it's supposed to do it and I was not disappointed this chainsaw rocks it'll cut down any tree I put it through its paces cutting down 16-in oak tree then I moved up to a 24-in oak tree took two batteries to do both trees can't get any better than that Great product ... show more

Did the job. Not the best situation for review because its my first electric saw and it pales to my smallest gas saw - 14" echo. Cut beams, bought for construction. Cut nails, ripped angles on 8x8 rough sawn. Not a beast, but fine for demo and rough carpentry. If pruning a good hand saw would be as fast in my opinion. ... show more

    • Great machine long battery life
This is a great machine for the homeowner. It is very small and light. About as small as it could be with a 12-inch blade. Like most of my other DeWalt equipment, it is very well made. The battery lasts for an extremely long time. Hours of use. I didn't do any kind of scientific study, but I was working in a yard cleanup and used this chainsaw throughout the day and probably made 100 small cuts and the battery is still more than 50%. I've easily cut through trees up to 8 inches in diameter, and this doesn't break a sweat. You do need to make sure that the blade stays sharp. If you accidentally hit sand or dirt while the blade is running, you should change out to a fresh chain or sharpen it. It is very easy to add oil and the reservoir is very large. It does use up oil so you be sure to check it as you work. ... show more
