I'm not your typical Chihuahua. I'm what you would refer to as a ChiWowWow. I like to look good for my honeys and that includes taking care of my nails, coat and remaining teeth. Seeing as I'm part fiercely ferocious and part numpty neurotic, typical dental hygiene measures seldom work out. I have a stash of buried toothbrushes and finger wipes I keep as trophies. No company ever got rich by overestimating what I want to put in my mouth. This Dental Fresh Water Additive, however, isn't bad. It came into my life more than two years ago and worked really well back then. It seems to me now, that it brightened my teeth and freshened my breath in a matter of a couple of weeks. My personal assistants, however, neglected to order some for quite a while after I finished the second bottle. (They've been dealt with for dropping the ball on that - and it wasn't pretty). A couple of months ago, I began getting the impression that my breath resembled foul soccer cleats. For one, my Shih tZu neighbor turned her nose up at my proposal for a moonlit stroll. Moonlight strolls are her favorite. Luckily (and good for them), my personal assistants were more observant of my needs, and they seemed to think that the kisses I deign to impart upon them every so often, smelled far fishier than the Fish Oil I demand in my grub. As such, they purchased another bottle of this stuff and I've been using it for almost a month. Much to my chagrin (what isn't?), I seem to recall this stuff being much better and faster-acting when I first tried it two years ago. My breath is better than it was a couple of months back, and I notice that my teeth are beginning to whiten, but the first time my assistants bought this, the results were pretty great and they happened a lot faster. I presume the formula might have been changed either because it was too good at fixing oral issues, or to make it more palatable now, which it is. Could be I'm just remembering it wrong - but that doesn't happen often. As far as I'm concerned, we're keeping this on the shopping list. Moonlit walks are back on the calendar. ... show more

Add a capfull to her water bowl in the morning and she drinks right up - before she would sniff to see what was going on and then wander about her day. Now she has to drink a bit before she moves on. Stinky breath is *gone* - and we're only about a week in, there isn't really any scent now.

I decided to try this product because the ingredients list was very close to something much more expensive. I have used the first bottle up. I have a dog and 2 cats. My dog's teeth are pearly white. There is a minute amount of tartar that I will need to brush, but for what I saw developing on his teeth this did the job. I tasted it myself to see if the cats would be offended, and I can't detect a smell or taste. It doesn't bother any of the animals, and they all drink as usual. Highly recommend this product Update: I've been using this for over 6 months now. My dog's teeth are white, but he has been experiencing stomach upset. I read the ingredients over again, and I see sodium benzoate and other synthetic preservatives can cause stomach pain & upset. I am going to switch to something more natural and see if that doesn't clear the issue up. I am also concerned with their change from a clear solution to a colored solution. It doesn't make a difference in the taste, but the cap has green residue from the coloring. ... show more

One of my older dogs was having dental issues and the vet suggested I use an oral rinse which my dog hated. A local pet store recommended a dental water bowl additive which was very expensive but it worked. My dog had no problem drinking the treated water and the additive cleaned up his breath and teeth.
