The De'Longhi brand is really high quality and excellent. This makes 6 of these that I have purchased for myself and others. The fan is quiet, the unit heats efficiently, and it can be set to turn on and off automatically. Also, you can stand it on its feet or hang it on the wall. If this gets tipped over, it shuts off automatically. If there is a power surge or if the wall socket overheats, this shuts off automatically. The outside gets hot, but not hot enough to burn with s simple touch. Great workmanship.

This unit performs exactly as others have written. Its is a slow convection style heater, even with its fan on MAX mode. In my application, the heater performed best in a room with 200sf. With some solar radiation adding to the morning and evening heat mass of the room. When running it on MAX, in the mornings I got a 10 deg. rise in the first hour in a 200sf room starting just at dawn. Then continuing with a 13 deg. rise in the second hour. On this particular morn, it was in the mid 40's outside It basically took the room from 46 to 69deg. in 2 hours with help from the sun through a 42x64 window. In the evenings (from dusk) the room would slowly drop from a high of 77 to about 63 over 6 hours At bedtime (11 pm) we put the unit in LOW mode and did not reach 45 deg. until just before dawn The more activity in the room, the better the heat dispersion. There are small sounds from the unit when contacts close or open. There are expansion and contraction sounds of the metal case. None are overly loud, none interrupted our sleeping Its a middle of the road heater, correctly priced for the performance. (83$US+FREESHIP) It really is not designed for repair, although you can easily disassemble the unit, the control components are not easily acquired.

First of all, the actual heat function is good. I like the the "Max " setting can be used with or without the fan. However, there are two major issues: Bought this for the bedroom, but it makes a loud clunking noise as it warms up and cools down (goes on and off) making it impossible to sleep or use it in the bedroom. The timer is great, but if there is a power outage, the timer is stops working and so the heater turns on/off at wrong times. A digital timer could solve this problem.

This heater is very efficient especially in locations where you want heat quickly. The timer function allows you have the heater turn on and off multiple times a day in 30 minute increments. This is especially useful if you want heat in the morning and evening but don't need it in the middle of the night or mid day. The fan is quiet and it works equally well on the wall or free standing. I was going to mark down for not having wheels, but this is extremely light and moving it doesn't require them. The fan is a huge advantage over a straight radiator. It lets the room heat up faster but also lets you warm up by the heater with out being right on top of it.

Had high hopes for this unit to replace a panel radiator. Paired with a remote thermostat but it struggled to maintain the temperature. Ended up going back to the radiator. Maybe it would work for other scenarios - I was trying it to keep vacation home warm during winter.

Update 2 year later: I regret ordering this heater. Without a temperature setting it is really difficult to figure out how to set it and warm up a room based on temperature. My other delonghi with a thermostat or another heater with a direct blower to warm you up is much better. I’m going back to my heater with a thermostat that can rotate back and forth. :( I hope someone from DeLonghi reads this: please hire a product designer and test your panel heaters for usability! I bought these for rental units so the idea that once you learn a heater it's easy to use doesn't apply here. Every person who uses it will be learning it for the first time...and it's on me to remove the frustration I feel in using this: This heater has several knobs and it’s not clear how they all release even after reading the manual. The "thermostat" is a dial with a few numeric settings from 1 and higher. I guess we are supposed to experiment to see which is the optimal setting. Even if they had to ship this with celsius settings, it would have been more helpful to have actual temperature indicators. I honestly am not sure how long it's going to take to find the optimal setting. The manuals really need to highlight the how to use separately from troubleshooting. Just like with the other DeLonghi flat panel heater I have with the digital display I’m going to have to either write with a sharpie instructions where to turn the dials or write instructions on tape to apply on to the heater. (That other heater works great but again has very confusing design.) The actual functionality of the heaters is awesome - very quiet soft heat that is comfortable to leave on for long periods of time. Some good designer can surely pair ease of use with great performance and a more user friendly manual. DeLonghi will win if so!

We bought our first DeLonghi oil heater in 1992 for our first home, for a family room. That one is still sitting in my office as I write this. Since then we've bought 3 more (including one for our kids for their own home). This is our first fan-based design from DeLonghi, and so far we love it. It's very low profile next to the wall and perfect for taking the edge off a chilly basement room. I have not used the time but the other controls are very simple.
