  • Espresso with cold brew function and many settings
Color: Pistachio Green
It is a compact espresso machine, and I got it in a soft, light green color. I measured a height just shy of a foot and roughly 13 inches long and a bit wider than 5 3/4 inches. On the top are capacitive touch buttons. I only have to tap them lightly to make them work. Included with the machine are several accessories. I found a portafilter with both single and double pressurized baskets, a tamper with a metal base and a textured plastic handle, a cleaning needle to clean the steam wand, and a water hardness test indicator. To brew a double shot, I need around 14 grams of coffee. It tastes quite pleasant. The espresso machine drips a little after finishing. It takes a while to heat up for steaming. The steam wand spits out a little hot water before it steams. It can handle dairy alternatives like oat milk (I use Barista version with passable results). I found it difficult to get proper foam. It took me some practice to learn how to hold my vegan milk to get real foam. Another use for the steam wand is making tea. Instead of boiling water in a kettle, I can place a tea bag in a cup and let the steam wand do the work. The cold brew function works well. It tastes fine and has a sweet note. I don't have to keep cold brew in my fridge for a day any longer. Instead, I tap the cold brew button and wait about five minutes. On the bottom, I found a sticker that tells me it's UL listed, made in China, and it's rated 120 volts, 60 Hz and 1450 watts. There are four clear rubber feet to prevent slipping. I can also choose from three different positions from which the power cord can come out - either straight out or more to the left or right side. I can customize some settings by entering the menu. To access this menu, I press the steam and 2 x Espresso buttons simultaneously for about ten seconds. The manual explains what buttons to touch to change the brewing temperature, automatic shutdown, and how many cups the machine has prepared - it's not an exact number but a range. I mentioned earlier that it includes a hard water tester. Based on the results of the hard water test, I can adjust the machine accordingly. I keep the manual near the machine as it takes some combinations of buttons to change a setting. The drip tray is removable so I can fit taller cups as well. And since the machine doesn't weigh much, I have to hold it with my other hand while I lock the portafilter into position. ... show more

  • Awesome little espresso machine
Color: Rosé Pink
I'm a little spoiled because we already have a pretty solid prosumer espresso machine, but I wanted to set up another one in my studio. I've also tried a different brand/similar countertop style that's $230, so these are the two machines I'm comparing this one to. – Espresso – It does a pretty good job of extracting a decent shot. The crema comes out richer than the cheaper machine though not as rich as the high end machine. I think the difference in overall richness is noticeable but it still makes a good cup of espresso. The portafilter is smaller than the standard 58mm—I believe this one is a 51mm, but it shouldn't really affect the extraction too much. The biggest drawback is the steam wand. It's fine for this machine, but that's probably where I notice the largest difference between this and the high end machine. It has a single hole—some have up to four—and lower pressure and it dramatically affects the creaminess of the milk. I practiced with this wand a little bit and produced decent results, but it's nothing like the other machine. You may not notice a difference if this is your first espresso machine. If I could change anything it would be the steam wand. – Machine – There's a clear difference in material quality between this one and the less expensive one. It's sturdier, better built, and doesn't move around on the counter when you're trying to get the portafilter in and out. It's well-designed and doesn't come off looking plasticky despite it being mostly plastic. It has a pretty small footprint and looks good on the counter. It's easy to set up. You can get it up and running in 15 mins. Overall, this is a really great starter machine at a pretty reasonable price for a good cup of espresso. You'll save so much money making better coffee at home. I will never go back. If you're looking for an easy machine, I would seriously consider this one and not go any cheaper. The quality drops off a cliff with those cheaper machines. Plus this one makes cold brew and even brews pods. De'Longhi is also a pretty trusted brand. For a countertop machine, this one is does it all. ... show more
