**5/5** Really solid little espresso machine. I wanted something that would let me get into making espresso at home without taking up a ton of counter space or spending a crazy amount on a larger setup, and the Bambino has been great for that. It heats up extremely fast and is very simple to use once you get the basics down. There is still a learning curve with dialing in your beans, grind size, dose, and shot time, but that is more espresso in general than the machine itself. I’ve been using it with my Fellow Opus 2 grinder and once everything is dialed in, it makes some really good espresso. The steam wand also works well for milk drinks like lattes and cappuccinos. It takes a little practice to get the texture right, but it gives you enough control to actually learn instead of doing everything automatically for you. I also really like the size. It is compact enough that it does not take over the counter, but it still feels like a proper espresso machine and not some tiny compromise product. For someone getting into home espresso, I think this is a really good starting point. It is beginner-friendly without being so automatic that you cannot learn anything from it, and you can still get very good results with a decent grinder and fresh beans. No real complaints so far. For the size, speed, ease of use, and quality of espresso it can make, it has been a great addition to my coffee setup.

I absolutely love this espresso machine! I’m a big coffee lover, and this has completely changed my morning routine. The espresso tastes so much better than what I was used to making at home, and I honestly don’t feel the need to stop at coffee shops anymore. After having a bad experience with an expresso machine I purchased on Amazon I decided to buy a more expensive machine from a company that I had seen advertised previously. After receiving the machine I noticed that the the coffee tamper was missing. I also couldn't remove the double cup coffee filter. I followed the instructions provided and after cleaning and initial start up procedure the double cup light wouldn't light up. I tried several things to get the light to come on but nothing worked, desperate for a cup of coffee I pressed the one cup button but nothing except cold water was dispensed. Even after letting the machine sit for 10 minutes I still got nothing but cold water. Against my better judgement I ordered another machine after complaining it was the second machine I ordered from Amazon that didn't work and was told I could keep the piece of junk I initially received because I have better things to do than having to keep returning items. I will write a review on the second machine. UPDATE: Against my better judgement I ordered a replacement after the first fiasco. This machine initially heated water to 135 degrees F, which we all know needs to be around 200 degrees F for proper extraction. After several tries the hottest I got the water was 160 degrees F. Also, it is so hard to get the grounds holder centered properly. it is so tight and hard to get centered. I actually spilled grounds everywhere while trying to get the holder off. I contacted Breville directly this time and they customer service person had me use my phone to watch me brew the coffee and then show him the temperature on my thermometer. I guess he didn't believe me. I was also told the holder is so hard to disconnect because it's new and should "wear down" eventually. On previous reviews others complained how difficult it is to remove the holder. So, I had spent an extraordinarily amount of time fussing with both machines trying to get then to work properly, then wasted more time with customer service. I should have just contacted Amazon again like the first time. Told the rep i was throwing this second one in the garbage like I had the first one, but Breville emailed me to send the second back and once they received it with an invoice and they would send me a replacement. I now wasted time repackaging the machine and emailed Breville back and told them there was no way I would never buy a coffee machine from them -EVER!!!. I have now received 3 defective coffee machines in a row and this usually patient person has just lost his patience. THIRD UPDATE: Going through the reviews I have found a second complaint of the issue in the difficulty of connecting the portafilter to the machine. I could barely turn the portafilter once I pushed it up into the machine, and I weigh 200lbs. I was told by the customer representative that the portafilter "is new and needs to get worn down a little bit." First of all, this was a useless excuse because I should have never had the difficulty I had attaching the filter to the machine as I had. Secondly, the representative should have admitted to this having been an issue and should have immediately offered a replacement. The company has since sent a letter of apology which is appreciated but doesn't diminish what I've been through. This is the 5th day without my morning coffee and I'll have th visit the town's coffee shop, "The Blooming Cup" in Tully which is actually a nice place to enjoy a cup of joe and a pastry

I am writing this review just shy of 3 years after purchasing (purchased Nov. ‘23). This espresso machine has been just wonderful for us! We have had no issues - though do note that we regularly clean the machine. It has been very durable, I mean, we have had it 3 years, making several shots a day! It is pretty quiet, as far as espresso machines go - obviously, it will be loud, but it is not as loud as the big espresso machines at coffee shops. I love the clean look of this machine - it is not bulky, and fits nicely on our counter. We have never had an issue with leaking. The only thing we struggled with was when we had hard water. To deal with this issue, we just used different water so the hard water didn’t clog up the machine. It was very easy to clean the hard water out of when it was built up. Like I said before, we regularly clean the machine, which helps it last longer- as with all things. I would highly recommend this espresso machine to anyone who is just starting out or is on a budget. You will have it for years to come, and be able to enjoy the perfect shot of espresso, every time.

First thing: can it make good espresso? yes. Second thing: can it froth milk? yes. Next section will be the tldr part. My experience level: I have been making espresso drinks for ten plus years with mainly LaMarzocco machines at shops. I have used home machines on occasion. I currently roast coffee. I knew going into this espresso machine it would be upgraded and I will list all of the upgrades needed to have a chance to make a cafe quality latte. Grinder because it doesn’t have one Heavy duty tamp because plastic is not how you want to tamp Bottomless portafilter because the one that comes with it is lightweight and not good 18-20 g basket Three hole steam wand tip- not major but the three holes does well with a perfect vortex Extra tools is a quality scale, glass espresso cup with measuring marks, better milk froth pitcher, WTD tool to break up the ground clumps, nice towels for clean up and a knock box. Last thing is getting good water. From the tap is wrong for many reasons. Mainly every water source from the tap has hard water. Your equipment is not going to last long without good quality water. Find a source that does spring water or RO but adds minerals back. Super important and don’t overlook this part. Okay in use: power on and let it warm up in seconds! Love that feature and that is honestly why I bought this in the first place. I also like the program volume dose. Super cool in a sub $300 machine. The grind level is important so the water goes through the puck just like professional machines. Once you get there cafe quality will be what your friends are saying as they drink.

It's my first Espresso machine. I couldn't be more delighted. I wanted a machine for beginners, and compact enough for smaller spaces. I am almost afraid to purchase anything that needs assembly. Admittedly, I was anxious about unpacking this Breville Bambino because of that fear. Let me tell you, it is SO EASY to get it set up. It comes with ample accessories to get you going so you don't have to buy extra add ons. I went from a dozen or so years of drinking only Nespresso and FINALLY decided it was time to move on because of the expense of the pods and the waste and harm to the environment. Right now I water down my espresso, as the strength is a little much for me. So I pull a triple shot with only using the recommended single amount of ground coffee. It is quite easy to adjust the settings. I drink my espresso black so I can't comment on the steamer. Over the long run this beautiful invention is going to save me huge money, as I can easily drink 10 cups a day. Seriously. The biggest hurdle was buying a good grinder at a decent price, so I don't have to buy all of the mumbo jumbo of a scale to weigh the beans and anything else that an espresso connoisseur would need. I went with a reasonably priced electric conical grinder. - SHARDOR Conical Burr. That too was a snap (no assembly required, tyvm). The absolute hard part for me, was getting the grind just right. I ended up setting the dial at 9 for regular beans (Swiss water process beans are more for the experts, I found out). And I ignore the timer and just fill how much I want into the Breville portafilter and pack it down. Hope this helps anyone who is buying an espresso machine for the first time. I highly recommend this one. Oh, and I also use the double walled cup because it is easy to get a perfect pour and crema. I haven't yet mastered how I can get such perfection with the (other) single walled cups it came with. It is a learning curve. Don't know how long this baby will last, for as much as I drink. But it is wonderful for entry level and doesn't take up a whole lot of space. I am already preferring the taste over Nespresso. I love it!

Well, allow me to say, this is the first machine I have had since the 1980s was it and that one Hoovered. Finally tried a unit, one of the many seemingly all variants of the same 51mm units. I had to send it back because, while very nice at the price point I feel it (and they) are probably best - and aimed at - milk coffee drinks and not actually espresso. Some, seems all similar did, have something the Bambino lacks - more metal. In feel (if there is such a thing) they, or at least mine - felt substantially more robust. It felt actually like better quality. But I couldn't adjust the water and couldn't get enough coffee in the portafilter. Maybe, some other options would fit the 51mm unit. I couldn't confirm it. This unit has a lot of plastic in it including the group head. BUT! It can adjust/learn pump-run time (adjust the water volume indirectly). The temperature is non adjustable. But I don't think water temp (as long as it is very near boiling) is really a variable most home espresso drinkers would benefit from - especially the beginners and novices. With the thermocoil design I understand it has, it heats in like 3 literal seconds. Steam is good (but I drink simple espresso so I am honestly not much help in evaluating that part). The wand has good articulation. I do like that Breville is big enough that plenty of 54mm baskets, portafilters, screens and papers are available - including bottomless. While I do like the unit's function and it has everything I wanted, it does feel cheap for the value proposition. I don't think it will hold up well for the length of time I keep appliances. It might. But, I do worry that the fact it knows how long it has been powered up/plugged in - makes me wonder if Breville embedded a count-down timer to planned obsolescence. I hope not, but the manual is clear in disclosure that it's recording usage data. I added a picture of three pucks/cakes (whatever term you like) within the first 24hours of receipt. The two dark ones were with pre-ground 6 month old (or longer) coffee and the third was with Folgers Classic drip grind. Yes, I do wish the entire Breville line was built on a standard 58mm group head (I do prefer a thinner cake per dose). And I do worry if it has an internal count-down to death timer and if the plastic will hold up. Edit: (added a bottomless portafilter and IMS basket) They -- finally -- came today. While these are aftermarket non-Breville parts, I added a video of a shot. (Replaced that because it was a little dark - new video has a little spurt - welcome to aftermarket bottomless portafilters. It happens sometimes) I don't claim to be an expert since it's been 35, idk 40ish years since I have had an espresso machine. I'm just now re-learning how to do it (or learning this machine); but, since I detest coffee snobs who discourage much more than they impress, I wanted to share. No, I'm sure it's not "perfect" but with this machine you really have potential without having to sell a kidney to pay for it (oops, I hope that doesn't violate 'community standards'. I might add some other still pictures later if anyone cares. Not a knock on the OEM portafilter & basket but I do prefer the aftermarket rimless basket because it is possible to make a larger diameter and thinner puck (ceteris paribus). The coffee in the shot was Lavazza Crema e Aroma which I guess from the "use by" was 3 months old. And, yes I prefer some blend of robusto (anywhere between 1/3rd and 2/3rds). If you would like to try your hand at espresso without variable overload and/or no room to experiment, then this machine is a pretty good starter. Edit 2: I added a picture of the IMS basket (2 pucks). Why? Well, so you could compare to the first picture where the stock Breville rimmed basket was used. Really there are only about 2 point. The stock basket has a rim (grips inside the portafilter great) and because the walls have draft - the pucks pop out easy. The downside is, that same taper that turns loose of the post brew coffee is less forgiving on volume of coffee powder. A light dose is hard to tamp and a large one won't fit or gets up into the shower head they call it. The aftermarket I chose is rimless so it tamps better. Not having a taper/draft-walled, your puck can be thinner for the same dose and there are more holes. So, you get more variables to dial in. The downside is, the pucks will eject in their entirety, you just might need an extra whack. The combo of bottomless & basket seems to be a trade-off. I seem to get more Crema and a rare spurt (see the video). So far, spurts have been rare. It's no defect, just a tamp made by a human. THE REASON I added the aftermarket parts to the review isn't to hurt Breville or over criticise them, no quite the opposite. While a little cheaply built like the plastic group head and more expensive than a 51mm manual espresso machine, being slightly larger portafilter size (I wish it was 58mm) - it heats quickly, is semi automatic and you can always add accessories later if you want. Don't have to, but you can.

I’ve had my breville for nearly a year now and I have absolutely loved it: it makes the most amazing latte ever and it makes them fast. Unfortunately the last couple weeks even after several good deep cleanings on it. It’s not brewing correctly or steaming correctly. It’s like the machine isn’t getting hot and maybe something is clogged up. My cheap Mr coffee machine lasted me 6 years and I’ve almost got a year out of this one. The coffee is better but for the price I should be getting more years out of it. Because of the cost I’m super disappointed it’s only lasted this long. I didn’t buy the the warranty either. My fault but I truly figured it would have last me longer. I also only make one maybe two coffees a day out of it.
