  • Best Investment - Perfect Every Time
Style: Evo Silver
I am thrilled to finally have this machine. It makes delicious fresh coffee and milk based drinks. You will see in my video that I add my favorite creamer before my latte brews. I like mine a little sweet, and that’s what works for me. I have bought some organic syrups and can’t wait to try those, too. It has been so much fun and a delicious experience getting to know my machine. I will try to keep my review list short and simple: Pros: *Makes a delicious coffee beverage (haven’t tried iced coffee yet, but I’m certain it won’t disappoint *Reminds you to clean the milk spout with a touch of a button when finished making your milk based drinks, as you will see in my video *Automatically does a quick rinse of the coffee/water spout when turned on or off, as you will see in my video (always keep a small cup there to catch the water) *Allows to reconfigure settings to your preference and memorizes the settings you chose - I.e. more water, less foam, etc. (you can find videos on how to change settings - super easy) *Has a decent sized water tank that provides multiple drinks before filling up again *VERY easy to learn and start making coffee right out of the box (just be sure to follow initial cleaning steps first) *Accommodates whole beans and ground coffee (be sure to read how to do ground coffee, as the machine is supposed to be on, can’t go over a certain amount at a time, etc. - easy to grasp but I want you to get it right) *Alerts when it’s time to refill water tank or remove coffee grounds from its disposal tank. *Very quick process and well worth the drink - it’s definitely a treat for my husband and me. *Has a hot water feature for teas, oatmeal, etc. You pick how much you need (no preset for that, I don’t think). Just be sure to have the hot water spout attached (original spout that you remove to attach the milk container for milk based drinks) *Very hot temperature, which I love. Just be aware and careful when you first brew and take that first sip. Temperature can be adjusted - just watch a YouTube video or read the manual to learn how. Cons: *Ive only found one, and I could be mistaken. But I don’t recall getting an alert when my beans needed refilled. I am new to ground beans and maybe it expects we know how many we should use. I don’t yet know, so I put enough beans in to cover the base. However, I could tell it was out during one of my drinks because I didn’t hear a strong grind. The drink was not good. Not a big deal, but it’s worth calling out if you’re wondering or like me and a newbie to whole beans. We will get it down! I love this machine, and I am so thankful it was on a deal. We splurged and got it for Christmas for us. My advice - don’t wait another morning without this machine. You deserve this; You won’t be disappointed. ... show more

  • Quality coffee and easy to use. Quality coffee and easy to use.
Style: Evo Silver
This was easy to set up. I was surprised how easy it is to use and how intuitive. I brewed a couple of different types of drinks and they all came out really well. The frother worked great. It was a little bit of a learning curve to clean the milk container but that was easy once you know what to do. Keep in mind that the device will purge a little water that is left in the system before AND after use. But the lower tray captures this wastewater with no problem. This is a great espresso machine and is very versatile. The only thing that is a little disappointing is that you can't really place a tall travel mug to brew directly into. You could sort of take out the tray insert, and then it would fit, but you would have to empty the tray first. But even with that, I would purchase again. ... show more

  • Unacceptable!
Style: Evo Silver
I rarely post reviews, but this one is necessary. The coffee itself is good and there are some nice features, but this machine is not acceptable at this price point. Here’s why: 1) It leaks constantly. When I contacted customer service, the rep suggested I was letting the steam catcher overflow from frothing milk. That’s not the case. I haven’t made a frothed milk drink in three months, and there is still a pool of water under the machine every single day. Enough water to soak my dish drying towels. The catch basin is completely dry, which also points to a separate design flaw: the basin itself is roughly the size of a standard bottle cap. Not exactly a well-thought-out feature. 2) The beans don’t funnel into the grinder properly. A significant amount gets stuck along three of the four sides of the hopper. If you don’t catch it in time, you end up with a weak, watery shot. This requires constant babysitting. 3) The used grounds tray fills at a wildly inconsistent rate. Sometimes it holds a normal amount. Other times it fills after just three pucks and locks you out of making another drink until you empty it. I’ve had this machine for six to eight months and my frustration grows with every use. To top it off, a customer service rep told me they will likely discontinue this model due to known issues and that I should watch my email for a recall notice. If the manufacturer already knows the product is defective, why is it still being marketed and sold? ... show more

  • What a super-automatic should be!
Style: Evo Silver
I had a high-end espresso maker for years. I enjoyed the coffee but grew weary of all the effort and finally retired and sold my equipment. We recently spent time in Eastern Europe, including 5 days in a hotel with high-quality super-automatic coffee machines. I was initially skeptical but loved my morning lungo! I was even impressed with the cappuccino feature. Surprisingly good foam! So, we return home and I want to keep the lungos coming. I start researching super-automatic machines. I love spreadsheets and assembled one that enabled me to compare features, quality, price and maintenance. Digging out all the info I wanted took time and effort. I finally narrowed down my choices to De'Longhi and one other brand. I then had to decide which models gave me what I wanted. In our case, we want lungo and cappuccino. We did not need more coffee choices. We also wanted true super-automatic capability. I kept coming back to the De'Longhi Magnifica but they made several different machines with the Magnifica label. I was uneasy about the Magnifica lacking a specific lungo button. Well, I learned that this machine's coffee button is actually a lungo button (a more dilute espresso versus Americano and brewed coffee) and the machine can be adjusted to deliver the strength we prefer. I like the price and features of the Magnifica Evo and that's what we purchased. When the machine arrived, I was very impressed with the packaging. It is simply excellent! That helped me feel optimistic about the machine. After setting everything out, I was not as impressed with the manuals. The machine appeared to be quite complicated and more maintenance than I expected. After making a first cup of coffee, I liked the results but still found the manuals tedious and hard to follow. I turned to youtube.com. I found quite a few De'Longhi Magnifica videos but was especially impressed with the one by consiglioskitchenware. De'Longhi should put a link to this video in the front of the manual. The presenter showed me how easy it is to work and maintain this machine. The manual now makes a lot more sense. We've been using the machine now for a week and I absolutely love it!! The lungos are just what I want: a full-bodied brew with a lovely crema cap and no bitterness! The cappuccinos use a shot of espresso - also beautifully done - and the foam far exceeds what I expected. It's smooth with fine bubbles, maybe not as good as a high-end espresso shop but very nice for home results. As for the super-automatic features, they get top marks. We adjusted the coffee volume slightly and the machine faithfully remembers our adjustment. I punch the coffee button and I hear the grinder going to work. Then, a slight pause while the water gets set up, followed by the boiler delivering a cup of coffee. Then the machine discharges the used puck into the waste bin. When I turn off the machine or it turns itself off, it uses hot water to clean the coffee delivery line. I was skeptical about the ease of the cappuccino feature, especially foam quality and ease of cleaning. Again, the machine exceeded my expectations. I pour milk into the bottle, plug it back into the machine and hit the button. It starts with beautiful foam and then injects the shot of espresso. When I'm done, the machine has a "clean" button that discharges hot water through the foam delivery system. The milk bottle is easily rinsed and cleaned, and the head and suction tube can be easily hand cleaned or put in the dishwasher. Would I buy this machine again? Absolutely!!! ... show more

  • De'Longhi Magnifica Evo Automatic Espresso & Coffee Machine with Auto Milk Frother
Style: Evo Silver
Setting up this coffee machine takes a few steps, but once done correctly, it works well. First, clean and fill the water tank with drinking water, then test if hot water comes out properly. Next, activate the water filter by running water through it and checking that it flows from the small holes at the bottom. Move the blue slider to set the two month filter duration and place the filter securely in the tank. It's not always clear whether the filter is fully active, which can be a bit confusing. Before brewing, it's a good idea to test the machine to ensure everything functions as expected. The device can detect if milk is in the milk tank, and milk based drink options only appear when it senses milk. When using coffee powder, a full scoop (using the included spoon) helps the machine detect it properly. During testing, the machine made cappuccinos, lattes, and regular coffee with consistent quality. The milk frother works automatically for milk based drinks. For cappuccino, it first pours hot frothed milk into the cup and then adds the coffee, which comes out smooth and well balanced. Milk heats up quickly, and the water gets hot within about a minute. The machine has two spouts: one for hot water (which can also connect to the milk tank) and one for coffee. The water tank fits securely but can feel a little heavy when full, so handle it carefully to avoid spills. For first time users, it's important to follow the manual closely. Pressing multiple buttons at once can confuse the system and trigger error light. The machine doesn't always explain what the error means, so the best fix is usually to run a cleaning cycle and restart. The instruction guide covers most common problems and tips for making drinks correctly. Overall, this is a solid, well made coffee machine that delivers good results once you get used to it. The only challenge is dealing with occasional setup errors, which can feel a bit overwhelming at first. This machine is mostly made of plastic and tends to make some noise when it starts or during the grinding of beans. It’s lightweight and easy to move around. The brewed coffee grounds fall into the tray located beneath the machine, which should be cleaned regularly after each use. I’m still learning how to use it, as it occasionally shows an error light. All the external parts can be cleaned with tap water. The coffee infuser is located next to the water tank. To clean it, remove the water tank, open the door, and press the red buttons to pull the infuser out. Rinse it under running water and soak it for about 5 minutes. The manual also recommends not using any detergents to clean the infuser ... show more

  • Excellent home machine for coffee drinks that need frothing.
Style: Evo Silver
We have used this product for 8 months and it has worked very well. It provides a range of drink, and is easy to maintain, with sensors indicating what needs to be cleaned. It provides fresh ground coffee drinks, and the frother works well.

  • Best purchase decision
Style: Evo Silver
I’m sorry to have to update my review to say this machine had a sensor go bad and will now only make coffee and hot water. Any button that involves frothing will not come on. I have to say I’m thankful I purchased on Amazon. They took care of me getting a refund with no problem. Very impressed with them. As for Breville, they need to work on this common issue and do a redesign. The way the frothing container has to click in every time, it’s no wonder it broke so soon. Original review: This was the best decision. My husband and I have enjoyed this machine so much. It’s brought our coffee drinking routine to a whole new level. We no longer spend money at coffee shops like we used to do. Now when leaving the house make our own and take it with us. This machine is so easy to clean, easy to use, and a joy to own. It was worth every penny. It does feel a little loud in a quiet home first thing in the morning, but not enough to wake anyone sleeping. After reading all the reviews we did decide to only use distilled/filtered water and make sure to clean annd change filters each time the indicated light comes on. Now that I’ve owned this a couple of months I wouldn’t want to go back to a regular coffee/espresso machine. It just makes the mornings a little brighter. ... show more

  • Made the switch to espresso machine!! Made the switch to espresso machine!!
Style: Evo Silver
I have been a coffee drinker for years and I have always wanted to make the switch to an espresso machine. The De’Longhi Magnifica Evo ended up being the first apllicance I setup at my new home and honestly, it has exceeded my expectations! The main difference is the quality of the coffee, it has a smooth and silky texture to it. I was definitely intimidated by the idea of learning how to use an espresso machine thats why i held off for so long but Magnifica Evo makes it very simple and automated. I absolutely love different options for the drinks and how it automatically cleans and rinses after every shot. This espresso machine has made it possible to drink store like coffee at home without the hassle of grinding the beans, measuring your shots, weighing them. This is a huge game changer for daily coffee drinkers who want the same premium coffee feel at home. - zawahirfaheem ... show more
