Best Filtration system I have used. I was using Brita but to water still tasted bad but the water here in Tucson is some of the worst tasting. Culligan system is slow but effective, the water tastes great. Worth every penny and the adde be it of reducing plastic.

I received a used unit with a used filter. It was supposed to new! I'm actually glad because I have sinceearned that the ceramic filters add methylene chloride to the water. This is not a good system compared to many others including much less expensive ones.

This Culligan MaxClear 3 Gallon Gravity Polished Stainless-Steel Countertop Water Filter system is my first gravity filter of this type. I had heard about Berkey filters, and had thought about getting one, but then all the issues with the EPA or FDA came out which forced them to stop selling specific filters and as I did more research I came to find that none of their filters are NSF/ANSI certified and rated. So I'm glad I never went the Berkey route and I'm glad to have found the new Culligan MaxClear system since the filters are lab tested and NSF/ANSI rated to do what they say and they have a crazy level of filtration to remove contaminants that most other filters no not and cannot filter out. I love having the assurance and peace of mind that these filters are actually doing and delivering what they claim. This filter system came in box nested in together and aside from my initial problems with pulling out the container (it was bagged in plastic so the space/tolerance was a bit tight), It was simple as can be to set up. The filtration does take while for the water to filter and pass through the top chamber and the instructions indicate that you have to run 3 cycles through before using, so that is time consuming and tedious. And you have to do that each time you switch to new filters as well. So you need back up water during that time. But once you go through that step you should be good, because it has a 3 gallon tank/reservoir which lasts for a bit and you can constantly refill and add water to the top. The water tastes clean and doesn't have any odor that I noticed. I'm not sure if you leave it for a long time if any stainless steel flavor will be imparted from the housing, but I usually consume water frequently and quickly so I haven't noticed any issues with that. I think the price of this system is very reasonable and it's actually much cheaper than the Berkey filter system. But where the system grows costly is with the filter replacement and frequency. I don't know how long my initial filter will last yet, but they recommend 6 months, which seems good. I will need to see when it needs to be replaced though. This is also a great filter for camping, prepping and for people who live off grid.

I’m obnoxiously picky about how my water tastes, and for every single one of my 37 years, Culligan has held the best-in-class title to me. I already have 3 of the 7 and 10 gallon pitchers, and while I love the water that comes out of them, I loathe changing out the filter 3 times a month. It’s expensive, annoying, and super wasteful. So when I was able to get my hands on one of these babies, I was thrilled. I’m so happy to only have a filter change a couple of times a year. Yes, the filters are expensive, but the cost-per-day of running this set up vs the smaller plastic pitchers is a quarter of the cost. The filtration itself is great: on brand and exactly what I expect taste-wise. The installation and set up is slow on the front end, and you should absolutely take note of the tips and tricks in the early reviews, because they will help you out so much and spare unnecessary stress! This unit is huge, and I appreciate it uses vertical space. It would be nice if Culligan also sold a smaller size that fits under cabinets though. It’s built to last. I will update if anything pops up or changes, but otherwise I wholeheartedly recommend.

The standout here is the certification. A lot of gravity filter systems claim to remove contaminants but don't have the third-party testing to prove it. The Culligan comes with NSF/ANSI certification for microplastics, lead, and PFAS, which means those numbers have been independently verified. In a market full of vague filtration claims, that matters more than most people realize. The ceramic filters cover a wider range of contaminants than the carbon block filters you find in most competing systems. The tradeoff is lifespan. Carbon filters in other gravity systems can last thousands of gallons before needing replacement. These won't match that longevity for basic filtration, and replacements aren't cheap. The ongoing cost is something to factor in before buying, because the $336 sticker price is just the starting point. The system itself is well built. Polished stainless steel looks good on a countertop and feels durable. Three gallon capacity is enough for a household without constant refilling. What saves this from being a locked-in ecosystem is that the housing accepts other filter types, so you're not permanently tied to Culligan's ceramic filters if you want to swap to something with longer life or lower cost down the road. That universal compatibility adds real value. At $336 this is a serious investment in a countertop filter. The certifications justify a premium, but the filter replacement costs keep the total ownership price climbing. Worth it if verified filtration standards matter to you and you're comfortable with the ongoing expense. The universal filter option softens that commitment considerably.

This was the first gravity water system I've tried. It ships with two ceramic filters along with the tanks. Assembly was easy. I washed everything, washed and inserted the filter as instructed, and filled the top tank. The first fill took longest to drain. It took a couple days for the top tank to completely drain into the bottom. The included guide instructs to discard the first three cycles. I did so and began using the system after the fourth filling. Fillings are the hardest part because I hold the tank under the faucet to fill. I don't want to touch the bottom and risk contamination, so I hold the sides. You can imagine how heavy it gets during filling. It could be filled with a separate container but since I primarily got the system to avoid microplastics and other unwanted chemicals, I try to fill directly from the faucet. The quality of the water is excellent. It doesn't have any after taste and I can only hope and assume that microplastics and forever chemicals are greatly reduced. The entire family has drank the filtered water and no one reported any negative experiences. I've even filled the dog's water dish from the system and he too was fine. Water supply is adequate for busy households. We have several household members fill large tumblers with the system and water remains plentiful. I typically refill once or twice a week. After a couple weeks I wash everything to prevent any mold or mildew buildup inside the tanks. So far, neither has been an issue nor even observed. Overall, we like the system. It's easily accessible and more convenient than filtered pitchers or faucet mounted filters. The water is room temperature, which is what everyone in the household prefers. Once the filters are depleted, I have several options available to replace them but will likely stick with the Culligan brand. The filters are costly and are the largest expense with the system. I look at it like printer ink but I'm much more willing and happier to invest in better health than tech.
