I purchased two of these clear filter housings to replace existing similar units installed on either side of my water softener. One of the previous units failed catastrophically, cracking around the circumference just below the female threads. Fortunately everything was installed in the garage, and we were home to spot the gushing leak, so water damage was minimal. These units seem well made, and I like the pressure vent and how the double o-ring seals are mounted on the periphery of the head, rather than in a groove in the top of the housing. This requires less torque to get a water-tight seal, which means less effort to unscrew the housing for changing filters. Hopefully this also means less stress on the housing too. This is the important thing to know: Apparently the clear polycarbonate housings have a finite life expectancy; the included instructions warn the threaded housings should be replaced every five years! Yes, they are great for evaluating when filter cartridges need to be replaced, or knowing if your softener resin screen starts leaking (thus the downstream filter - trust me, you do NOT want all your home water lines filled with resin!!). Just be aware they have a serious operational limitation and will eventually fail! The solid (opaque) versions are made of a more sturdy material. ... show more

I purchased two of these to replace the Dupont filter housings that kept splitting. They are much huskier than the Dupont units, and because of that, I had to do a little re-plumbing. Also, these don't come with a mounting bracket -- had to fabricate a pair. They seem a lot beefier tha the old filter housings so I hope they don't fail like the others. ... show more

This filter worked well while it lasted but it only lasted 2 months and then the handle that opens and closes it broke away from the ball valve. Return time is 30 days - it lasted 60 days so I am out $32.00

    • Ordered Standard Duty HF360A Culligan Filter system to replace the "crystal" filter cannister.

I received an HF 360B System which does have crystal cannister. However it connects to the new Filter housing in a really different way. If I hadn't examined the cannister carefully and discovered that in fact it could be installed exactly as my old one into my original Filter Housing, I might have sent it back. All's well that ends well; it is designed exactly like the original crystal cannister, it's fits perfectly, and performs its job well ! ... show more
