I waited until a year to write this review. I decided to buy a cast iron pan because any carbon steel substitute was not working for me, and this one was available at a really good price. First of all, it is heavy, sturdy and high quality. I have been using it regularly for Indian/Asian stir fry vegetables and noodles recipe. And it is still like new. It is easy to clean, doesn't have strange residue like carbon steel, and the food tastes delicious. Most of the times, it can be cleaned with the scraper. If you have used it 3-4 times and have to clean with water, as long as you make sure to rub it with oil and heat it up afterwards, it will not rust at all. I bought this pan for my husband who wanted a larger cast iron pan. He loves it! It is heavy but it cooks so well! It makes pan searing steaks a breeze! We also love the scrubber that came with the pan because it makes cleaning up light work.

    • Great pan, but with one flaw
Size is great. Heat distribution is great. It's nice and deep. Overall it's a very good cast iron skillet. The only flaw is that it feels like it wasn't sanded down at the factory. It has what feels like a 40 grit sand paper surface. It doesn't cause an issue with food sticking(if you season it properly), it is only an issue with cleaning. After I cook, then clean, I try to wipe it down with oil and a paper towel, but it eats paper towels like a demon possessed. My other skillets don't have this problem. At this price point, it was the deepest pan I found for it's 12" size. I love it for making deep dish pizzas and pot pies, etc. No regrets for me. But maybe go with another pan if you can do with a slightly shallower or more pricey pan if you don't want to deal with a sandpaper surface. This pan will be perfect for those of you who need to cook, but also need to do some coarse sanding for your wood working. ... show more

OK, so I got this for a steal about a year ago. Not sure why the price was so low, but I took a gamble. Gotta' say that I wish I would have purchased one of these years ago! Yes, it takes time to properly "season" it, but well worth the effort. I use it 3-4 times a week now and could not be happier.
