This air fryer is fantastic! Things other people complain about with their air fryers don't pertain to this one! No liners. The basket is glass, with handles that stay cool. The tray is ceramic, no teflon or other non-stick hazardous finishes. And both the glass basket and the tray are dishwasher safe! I've done drumsticks in it, sweet potato fries, and chicken thighs, all of which were the best I've ever had. The chicken was crispy outside, moist inside, and done perfectly, per directions in the insert. The sweet potato fries were incredible. This thing works great. No plastic smells. I love the way it cooks. I love that I can see the food. There's only one downside. The uning element is towards the back.So there's an area that has less direct heating in the front, where the window is to be able to see your food. Cooks, fast cooks well.Just have to keep yourself a note to switch sides ... show more

TL;DR the apple won! I LOVE this air fryer - easy 5/5! Photos are of size comparison with my coffee pot, and with a 6 quart air fryer that I ended up returning. As a first time air fryer buyer, I did all the homework to know exactly what I wanted with so many confusing options out there. My requirements: PFAS/chemical-free (preferably glass), relatively small footprint (my countertop space is limited), good cooking performance and reliable. Despite not being glass, I finally settled on a highly rated, Teflon-free 6 quart air fryer, which size was at the upper limit of my counter space availability. After I ordered it, and before I even got a chance to unbox it, I unexpectedly came across this little 4 quart Cuisinart gem that checked ALL of my boxes! So I ordered this one too. I took them both out of the box and made my decision based on side by side comparison in size and aesthetics. I didn’t compare them based on cooking results (I wasn’t going to send one back used). My main concern was whether or not 4 quarts would be big enough. It’s just my husband and me, except for when my young-adult children are home on occasion. The test was what would actually fit. Both can fit 2 slices of a large pizza, or 3 frozen breaded chicken breasts. There’s a bit more breathing space between the items in the 6 quart, but not significantly more room to fit a whole extra piece of pizza or chicken fillet. So that’s how I made my decision - I decided to go with the smaller footprint and the glass bowl with the visibility. The other got boxed back up, and I started cooking with this Cuisinart air fryer. Cooking observations: The buttons are easy to use - very intuitive - includes type of cooking (air fry, bake, broil, re-crisp, and warm) plus 2 custom buttons (custom fav 1 and 2) that you can preset your favorite/most often cooked foods. Pre-heat is built into the bake and broil buttons. Shake halfway reminder is built into the air fry button. But you can also press the halfway reminder button if you want to add it to your other settings. The time and temp are adjusted with up/down arrows and scroll fast with a long press. There’s no pause button - if you hit the start/stop button to pause, you will have to reset all the settings again. But if you pull out the basket, it automatically pauses and restarts again when you push it back in - for when you shake or flip your food during cooking. It continues to cook if you ignore the shake signal. Little buttons on the plate mechanically push down while the basket slides over the plate, and pop back up when the basket is in its proper place - you’ll hear the click. It won’t function unless the basket is in its proper place. The basket is borosilicate glass. Yes, it’s heavy, but no more so than my 4 quart casserole dishes. It has 2 handles on the sides that slide the basket in and out, not 1 handle on the front of the basket that makes it awkwardly heavy to lift out - like all of the other glass basket options that I had considered. The handles do not get hot during use. (However, the handles make it not microwave-safe or oven-safe. But It is dishwasher safe.) Features I love: Glass basket - besides being chemical-free, I can view what is cooking - especially being new to air frying - so that I can stop it early to keep things from burning as I learn the art of timing. (This thing heats/cooks faster than the recommended settings on the food packages.) Even the top is clear and it has a light to view from above too. The glass basket comes with a plastic lid so that I can prep veggies or do other meal prep in advance and keep it in the fridge until I’m ready - it can function like a glass storage container. The footprint is fairly small. The unit is about the size of my 12 cup coffee maker, if not smaller. I’ve used it 7 times now, and everything I have made in it so far has been cooked to perfection, better than in my oven. It’s pretty quiet, fast, easy-to-clean, and decent looking on my counter. I don’t mind leaving it out all of the time. There’s really nothing I don’t love about it. Considerations: The glass basket is HOT, even though the handles aren’t. I have a silicone trivit/hot pad that I keep in front of the unit so that I can just slide the basket out onto the trivit and slide it back in again. Consider everyone in your household who might use this, if getting burned is a risk. For me, it’s no different than taking a hot casserole dish out of the oven, only I don’t need hot pads to hold the handles on this. Also consider the size (4 quarts.) It is perfect for 1 - 2 people. The crisper plate is just under 7.75” across. The top of the basket is 8 7/8” across. Depth is 3.5” without the crisper plate, and is about 2.5” with it. The main difference in size between this and the 6 quart basket (of the other air fryer I sent back) is that most of the extra 2 quart space is in the depth of the basket. For me that is no big deal, since the majority of what I make will be pretty much single layer anyway. (It is however, about 1.5” smaller across in crisper plate size, which does crowd things a little more.) But this basket really too small to roast a small chicken in it - consider that if that if depth is an important feature for you. I love both of the air fryers I ordered, and it was really hard to decide which one to return since they both had such good features - it was like as comparing apples to oranges. With all other considerations being pretty much equal, the winning features were ultimately being able to see what I’m cooking, and fitting nicely on my counter, despite losing some volume in cooking space. I have had several air fryers and this by far is my favorite. Very quiet. So easy to clean. Don't feel like I am eating Teflon. The light on the air frying is amazing. You can see your food cooking. I have only used the air fry so I can't comment on baking or the other options. I got this on prime day which had the air fryer marked down to an amazing price but I would have gladly paid full price after using this machine. Outstanding in every way.
