I foster cats and kittens, so im opening about 6 cans per day of cat food, so a manual can opener wasn't doing it for me anymore. Not as young as I used to be. In the past year I've gone through two Hamilton Beach can openers, that actually cut through the seam on the edge of the can rather than down through the top as traditional can openers do. I love the way Hamilton Beach openers worked because leave no sharp edges and you can actually the lid back onto top of the can after opening it. Unfortunately, both of these utterly failed after about 4 months. So, I gave up and figured id try this one. I just got it so I can't speak to it's durability yet but I will say that it's probably twice as fast at opening cans compared to the Hamilton Beach. It's also much quieter and gives the sense, at least, of being of higher quality. Again it remains to be seen how it performs over time. The blade is designed to be replaceable, though I have no idea whether or not I can even get replacements. It is a little finicky at first until you get used to how to hold and insert the can, but I found that after a few tries, I got the hang of it now, and have no problems. ... show more

This can opened puts all other can openers to shame. It looks so nice if you leave on the counter or have to store in your cabinets. It is not cheaply made at all. I did my research and for the price, this was it. A great price for a great product. It does exactly what they claim it will do, with precise cutting. I can't say enough good things. Plus it looks so good on the counter. And I rarely store any appliance, other than my coffee pot, on the counter. If you are needing a new can opener, I encourage you to buy this one. It is a keeper! Oh, one more thing...I had previously bought the type can opener that magnetically sets on top of the can. It did OK but very soon ran out of batteries. This just made me start looking for a TRUE CAN OPENER. I AM HAPPY I FOUND! ... show more

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT BUY THIS DECECTIVE PIECE OF JUNK!!!! I’ve been a customer of Amazon since they started in 1994. This is by far the worst product ever!!!! The can once latched proceeds then falls off due to the physics that are poorly designed. I cannot even hold the SS it rotates to keep it secure but will always fall into my hands creating a total mess. This all happened within a month of ownership. Don’t buy this!!!!! ... show more

I bought this because I cook my dogs some food toppers but in large batches. I open tons of cans of pumpkin puree and no salt added green beans and it gets tiresome using my handheld one. It’s really pretty and I love how easily removable the little knob part is to wash it. It works quick but it took me a second to learn how to place the can for it to work. The only thing I wish is that it would cut the can in the protective way where the edges aren’t sharp but I have no kids in the house so I guess it’s fine. After years of using the old fashioned hand held can opener we decided to upgrade since we're getting older and strength of our hands isn't what it used to be. So far so good! It opens cans smoothly and is easy to use. The only thing I would say is a downside is that the magnet, blade, and teeth tend to get liquids from the can on them so they have to be cleaned each time, but I imagine any opener would be the same.
