It was fairly easy to install even for a novice like me. Just read the directions and measure and use a level if you are placing 2 (like on each side of a bed, like we did). One thing that stumped me when installing was there is a small screw in the middle of the wall plate/ bracket that prevented the wall plate/ bracket from laying flat against the wall. I tried many things but finally just removed that middle screw, that wasn't doing anything that I could see , and they lamp brackets lay nice nice and flat against the walls. I looked but didn't ' see that in instructions. They look VERY nice for the price... look more expensive than what we paid. We also like the 3 way bulb ability for added brightness when wanted. ... show more

The lamp part was not too difficult to assemble. However the brass cover for the cord was too hard to get straight. The metal part which had to be nailed to the wall was so difficult to get straight I finally gave up. The brass rods that go over the metal part do not fit easily. I had to end up trying to hammer it onto the metal part which did not work. I have lots of holes in my wall which I will have to use spackling and paint to cover. I like the lamp which goes with my four poster bed. ... show more

Defective harp part. Frustrated and annoyed after wrestling for an hour to install the bulb and vacuum broken glass! First GE 3-way bulb broke off in my hand as it would not twist in correctly. The next two 100 watt bulbs I tried were difficult as well. Had to remove lamp from wall and take out harp to repeatedly and carefully screw bulb in. UPDATE 12/13/2020: Upgraded rating as customer service was extremely responsive. Answered my question immediately, researched resolution, and sent two new harp parts with a wider span to try. I purchased two of these lamps for my bedroom - over the headboard. I like to read in bed and needed lights I could aim where needed, but look good while doing it. These lamps fit the bill. The swing arms work well, not too tight nor too loose. The shade fits with my decor and the bright brass arms and back plates add the "jewelry" touch.
