I just used one of these on my 8 year old blade and it is sharp once again. Make sure to use safety glasses & good gloves. Make sure the drill stays in clock wise mode or the screw holding the grind stone may loosen. I think using a vice to hold the blade is the safe way to go, also. Thank you! These sharpeners seem very sturdy.

I just sharpened the mower blade today and the disc works well enough. It was easy to use, the plastic disc acts like a guide. I just did a couple of quick passes with the blade still attached to the mower (put the mower on a table). All you need is a power drill. I have a dremel attachment too but this disc and power drill was better. A one person job; one hand holds the mower blade (gloves on) and the other hand runs the power drill (when mower blade is still attached). Next time I would remove the mower blade and get a full sharpening in.

purchased despite negative reviews...and found tool to work very well..but must support blade firmly in upright position. my bosch 18v variable speed drill worked perfectly fine on high speed. One note, if blade not held VERY firmly in vise, it will bounce!

I had been seeing this item for sharpening lawn mower blades advertised on TV, and thought maybe Amazon would have them. I found this item, thought I would give them a try. I have a set of three blades that needed to be sharpened. Mounted the first one in a vise, and proceeded to mount the sharpening stone onto my portable electric drill. First thing I notice, the plastic collar is not well secured to the drill shaft, after about five minutes of sharpening, the plastic collar flew off in two pieces. I might suggest not only wear safely glasses but some sort of safety face piece. Tried the other four, and the plastic collar must be heated or lightly glued on the shaft as they all failed miserably. Guess it will be the file from now on, less likely to get hit in the face by flying plastic pieces.

Poor quality. Doesn't sharpen mower blades well. Was looking for something to give me a few good cuts before taking blades to a grinder, but this was disappointing.
