Great little grill for camping . I purchased a cast iron grill over the lightweight one that comes with it. Heats up fast and works great in windy conditions. Portable and compact makes it great for camping. It doesn’t need much room to store. Locking lid is great to keep things together.

Grill size is 12” long by 9.25” wide with another inch where it’s rounded. I cooked a salmon steak and 4 artichokes for 2 people on this, next day 4 lamb chops and some sliced potatoes. I like the small latch to keep it closed. It works just fine. When you are ready to start cooking, you simply open it, take out the 8” propane tube and temperature control unit, screw on a small propane tank, then slide the tube into the propane hole on the side of the bbq. It just sits in there and the propane tank rests at an angle facing you. It’s just as easy to remove the tank and tube since it’s not a complicated connection. No, it does not leak, the laws of fluid dynamics pull the propane thru that connection to the bbq flames. The grill is a good weight with nice enamel coating and food does not stick easily and cleans up fast. Below the black grill is an aluminum bottom that is deep and curved to hold any grease dripping. I found that easy to clean up with a paper towel. Since it cleans so easy and disassembles so quickly, I was able to quickly put it away for the evening. I keep the box it came in and one piece of styrofoam and store it that way. Overall, very happy with it. It’s compact enough, but will cook a whole meal for 2 or 4 depending how you do it. It has a big oval burner ring and cooks just slightly hotter than you expect, but still controllable. I’ve had thin aluminum and tinny camp products in the past but this is not one of them. It has a good camping-quality feel and I would certainly use it at home on a patio but does not take the place a good stainless steel home patio bbq. Take it camping and leave the charcoal, chimney and smoke at home and you’ll be quite happy with this. ... show more

Small but Mighty

Took this thing out to the lake. Bought it as a mobile option for the boat (WHEN ON SHORE.... i see you legal folks). Assembly was crazy easy. Well packaged. Sharp crisp RED. Bought a generic bag for it that holds 2 tanks with it. Regulator pops in and out easy enough. Spark model works alright. HARD to start in breezy conditions. We cooked 12 chicken legs in 1 go and 3 pacakages of brats in 1 go. Kinda surprised what fits in 105 sq-inches. (TWSS) Few things I wish I knew. 1) those 1lb tanks need to be colder/cool or they will cause problems lighting the grill. Always bring a couple and DO NOT rely on just 1 tank. Store in shade 2) Really wish they made a liner that fits over the aluminum colored drip tray. I tried yoshimat, it didnt fit nice. Drip tray works but it looks like hell already. Its a grill, but you know what I mean. Would be nice to pull a liner out and clean it on the fly so the drippings dont soak into the bag, etc. 3) I am tempted to try finding the griddle and pan attachments for the older model and see IF they fit. Would be nice to have those types of accessories. IDK if they will work or not. Have them on order. Overall fast ship, good product, parts available everywhere. Regulator if it breaks you can get on amazon or walk into most Walmarts in the camping section. 1lb tanks are EVERYWHERE. Great for what it is and what it does. Faulty Latch Not the Fault of Coleman or the Grill

I purchased this grill just a few days ago and it arrived as expected thanks to Amazons amazing efficiency. I have owned and loved my Coleman RoadTrip grill for years. Unfortunately it is now ending it life and I am in need of that always sought after back yard BBQ. The favorite tool of outdoor grillers around the world. As a huge fan of my RoadTrip grill when I saw this smaller even more portable version I had to give it a try. I am happy to report I am every bit as thrilled with the manufacturing quality and the durability of the materials. I have not fired it up and grilled on it as of yet because after carefully reading the reviews it appeared that it may have a problem closing and locking the latch which makes it portable. I am happy to report I found no such merit to those claims. I will say initially I was inclined to agree, but after realizing I had not properly aligned the drip pan which resulted in a failure to close properly I felt compelled to dispel those false accusations of a faulty latch. If you take care to align the inside parts as designed and lightly press on the lid before you turn the close latch you can actually feel the latch "click" into the closed position and frankly you could carry it around as a purse at that point if you choose. I will not actually cook on the grill for a few weeks since I am in the process of moving and if I need to update my review at that time I will. I have to tell you this grill seems to be every bit as good as my faithful RoadTrip grill and even better if its just you and another that is going to eat. Worse than junk. This is dangerous. Avoid it!

The good thing about amazon reviews is that you get a range of opinions on something and then have to decide for yourself if it's worth trying. And if you don't like it, back it goes. That's what I did with this grill, and the answer is a 100% thumbs down. The form factor is very appealing. We're moving from travel trailers to a camper van, so every cubic inch of space is important. We love our Weber Q, but even the smallest Q is too big. This seemed like the ideal solution. I'm not going to restate all the negatives you can read in the other reviews. Just believe that this thing is absolutely as bad as they say, and even worse. 1) Heat control. There is none. There is full on, and when you set it to low, it's still full on. I cooked some bubba burgers and rolls on the first cook. The rolls instantly burned, even on low. The burgers had to be continuously flipped to keep from burning. These burgers drip a lot of fat, and that fat was continuously catching fire in the drip tray. 2) Drip tray. This thing is nothing short of dangerous. It's tough to get out, and tough to get back in. Even worse, all the reviews talking bout sharp metal edges? Yup, so easy to cut your self. And you really have to remove this thing to clean it. 3) Too hot to handle. This thing gets so hot with the lid down, you cannot open it using the lid handle. You need something like an oven mitt because it's too hot to touch. Oh yea, when you flip the lid open, the grill tends to want to tip over backwards, possibly spilling all that lovely grease in the drip tray and possibly causing a fire. I'm going to stop here, but if you decide to try this out for yourself, just be aware it can be dangerous. I don't even see how this is usable. Possibly I got a defective gas gas valve with no adjustment control, but from other reviews I don't think that's the case. Bottom line: Coleman should be ashamed of itself for selling this poorly designed, dangerous product. For $100 this is the worst stamped metal piece of junk I think I've ever used. Good Value For Small Spaces

Bought this because it was the most compact size grill I could find for our sailboat. Did not want to invest $400 in a marine grill so we gave this a try first to see how we liked grilling from the boat. Pros: compact and can be stored anywhere. Easy to clean. Starts easily and does okay in breezy conditions. Cons: The latch to hold it closed is flimsy. I would not carry it by the handle relying on the latch to stay locked. And you have to make sure the bottom pan is in nice and tight after cleaning or the lid won't close. It's not a no-brainer. Ultimately, I'm happy with it. It's just the right size for my family of two and I can tuck it anywhere while we're sailing. Update: While it's nice to be able to take the insert tray out for cleaning, the metal is finished so poorly my husband has cut himself on it 4 times. I tried filing down sharp metal shards with a file but my husband has a big bandage on his finger now so I guess my efforts were worthless. Be careful when cleaning. Living in a condo with storage space at a premium, we needed something compact but fully functional. After reading the reviews, we decided this grill was exactly what we needed. It has a surprisingly large grilling area, very adequate for cooking for a couple or small family. Assembly was minimal (screw on legs), the propane line connection snapped into place easily, it started on the first click and almost immediately I could feel the heat rolling out. I grilled chicken and never set it past Medium heat, which was very adequate. I loved the fact that unlike the other portable tabletop by Coleman, this has a lid that is domed to be able to cook in true grill-like fashion with the lid closed for faster cooking. The chicken cooked quickly, had nice sear marks on each side and was juicy and delicious. A great trial for this little grill! I appreciate the fact that the bottom drip pan is designed to come out for easy cleaning. The grill and drip pan fit in a kitchen sink for soaking or washing. Because of another review with a dire warning about the extremely sharp edges on the drip pan, I was very concerned and that was the first thing I checked as I inspected the grill. I carefully looked at the edges and even ran my finger all the way around the edge, fully intending to use my rotary grinder to dull them down if they were sharp enough to cause concern. I could find nothing that I felt would be problematic. The drip pan and grill cleaned easily. Also, addressing another issue that was brought up in the reviews, if you leave the grill attached to the propane tank, it will not tip over backwards when you remove the grill and drip pan for cleaning. Others have complained about the latch. Perhaps theirs needs minor adjusting. When I close the grill and latch it, it stays closed. I walked around holding it by the handle and it did not come open. I even sat it on end and rattled it back and forth trying to get it to pop open and the latch stayed closed. I'm impressed with the fact that everything needed for grilling (except the propane tank) fits comfortably inside the grill resulting in a wonderfully compact package with a very small footprint when stood on end. Based on the suggestion in other reviews, I have ordered the carrying case, but only so I will have a convenient way to store and carry 2 tanks with the grill. Otherwise, it's so well designed and handy it really wouldn't be necessary. Bottom line is that I am very impressed. You can tell a lot of thought went into the design of this little beauty. The workmanship is good, what I would expect from Coleman. It functioned perfectly on the first try out of the box. It is lightweight, easy to carry and small enough to easily tuck away in a trunk, corner of a closet or even in a kitchen cabinet. I couldn't be happier with my choice, for our purpose it is as close to perfect as I could hope to find. UPDATE: After almost 2 years, I had a problem arise with the handle. The heat from frequent grilling caused a part on the handle to disintegrate, resulting in the handle coming off. The grill was at the end of the 2 year Warranty period, so I contacted Coleman, explained the problem and asked for a new handle and insulating washer to fix it. To my surprise, after I provided pictures showing the problem area, Coleman replaced it with a BRAND NEW GRILL! I am extremely impressed with their customer service department and their warranty service. This is definitely a company that stands behind their products. One trick to make it easy to clean!

Love this little portable grill. Used it 5 times so far, and cooked burgers, hot dogs, and even Korean BBQ ribs. Difficult to control the temperature when the lid is closed, as even on low setting it'll get much hotter than you'd probably like, but you'd be hard pressed finding a grill with perfect temp control in a small package like this. Was able to cook up to 4 burgers at once, 8 ribs, or a whole package of hot dogs. Having owned their bigger portable grill, I used my trick on that grill on this one, which is laying down a layer of foil (use the cheap thin foil) under the grill but don't block the flames obviously, and then at the end of the session all you are doing is chucking the foil and cleaning the removable grill. Much much easier than trying to clean the entire area underneath the grill. Just remove the foil and you're done! Assembly was just the 4 feet on the bottom. Locking mechanism works perfectly, and this grill has taken an absurd beating unintentionally and its worked perfect. Due to some storms, the table this was sitting on outside blown over a few times, flinging this little guy several feet away onto some concrete and gravel. No scratches that I could see, and works like the time I opened it. Great product! ... show more
