  • Take your time putting it tigether, it is beautiful on it's own
Style: GA5403B
It took my Guy two days to put it together. but the instructions were extensive and very good. no oh darn that was upside down. take it apart and do it again. type problems. I had to laugh because both men in my house were instantly excited to have a real BBQ. And they have used it for the last three days. a week later we have managed one dinner out of the house when the men were talking about the next meal they are going to cook next. It is a hit. ... show more

  • Great Grill!
Style: GA5403B
It took about 2 hours to put together but straight forward if you follow the directions. It heats up fast! We grill all year and the Michigan winters were tough on our old grill getting to hot but i got his to 750 degrees in April, in Michigan.

  • side burner things stuffed inside main unit
Style: GA5403B
This grill replaces my old Charbroil (about 10 years old) which experienced multiple rust throughs in the firebox, after having had the burners and deflectors replaced twice. We bought this because it has the back burner for the rotisserie, which I really like, and you can't find any longer except on this unit, and ones costing twice as much. So, The good: The finish was good, and despite other reviews indicating shipping damage, we did not experience that. It went together in under the time described by other customers, and went together fairly easily, more about that later. The grills are SOLID and produce a good sear, the system heats up fairly quickly, and cleanup doesn't look too hard. The bad: I was missing three of the "A" screws in the kit, didn't want to deal with contacting CHINA to get three screws, so I had to go down to the local farm store for metric stainless bolts. slightly annoying but no big thing, cost about $5.00 for the bolts. It would have been nice if the manufacturer's instructions for assembly would have pointed out that the lines, valve, and sparker for the side burner were stuffed up inside the main unit where the rest of the valves are. The instructions do NOT tell you to remove those from the main body before bolting it down to the chassis. Untuck them before you lift the main unit and put it on the chassis, it will make your life a lot easier! The grill over the side burner should be bigger by about three inches. I was making "Cowboy Candy" on it, which involves boiling a lot of vinegar, sugar, and Jalapenos. NOT something you want to do in the house! My big pot does not fit on the burner squarely, it ends up canted because the base is bigger than the cooking surface of the side grill. Even one inch more would have helped. The ugly: The cart system seems a bit flimsier than my old Charbroil. It's solid right now, and I may be borrowing trouble, but I wish the back were fully enclosed, instead of the round stock brace holding the louvered back in place, (see picture 3) Now all of that said, a few caveats. Considering assembly, my wife and I are professionals (she's an engineer at a naval shipyard, and I'm a retired Electrical manager at the same yard.) so we're used to putting things together and taking them apart, and we have power tools, YMMV. I seem to have listed more cons than pros, this was not to say that it's a bad grill. I would buy it again, based on the limited time I've had it (this was written a week and a half after arrival and I've only cooked on it four times.) It's got all the features I wanted, and plenty of space. ... show more

  • Well Worth The Money
Style: GA5403B
After reading the reviews, many of which complained of bent parts and poor customer service, I was a little hesitant to order this nice looking BBQ, but I made a leap of faith and did. When I received it, the packaging looked like it had been "tossed about" somewhat, making me nervous. It sat several days before I had the time to open it up for an inspection and assembly. When I got into it, the way it was packed looked good, and the outer tears of the box were only superficial. But once I started taking parts out, I did find some bent parts. They way they were packed, and where they were in the box, makes me think they had to have been already bent when they went into the box. The damage was minor, so with a block of wood and a rubber mallet I straightened them. None of the bent parts affected exterior looks, or brought up any performance issues. Whether I was just lucky or not, I can't say. I've had it up and running for a month or so now, so I'm ready to make some comments on performance. The first "issue" I have is the sear burner. It is not an infrared burner, but just a "normal" burner designed to put out more heat, so I'm hesitant to call it a "sear" burner. All other BBQs I looked at use an infrared burner for searing. Another "issue" is the spacing of the burners. When it was laid out all the burners were spaced equally, but spaced out far enough that the burners on the end are actually to close the the ends. This results in the "sear" burner not being centered under it's grate, making it harder to lay out your steaks evenly over it. Also, the diffusion plates over the burners are much to small for my preference. I as yet have not used the infrared rotisserie burner. (Infrared: as long as they have them, they should put one under the sear grate!!) Overall, taking the price into consideration it is well worth the money, but could be improved for not much more cost. ... show more

  • First one arrived very damaged second one was a fire hazard
Style: GA5403B
The grill came in an undamaged box but the grill itself looked like it came from a car crusher. Ok, not that flat, but damaged on every large piece. It was returned without too many issues and a new one was sent. See my review about the replacement. Apparently I cannot write a separate review about the replacement so here it is. The replacement arrived with a couple of dents in it but we were able to put it together without too much trouble. It looked nice and flamed on when propane was added. All seemed well until I tried grilling. The burner controls were very erratic and unless I stood there with the top open and watched it every second, the food would burn on one end and barely cooke on the other. After putting up with this for several months I was going to donate it to the metal recycling truck but decided to give it one last try. I put 4 hamburgers on and went into the kitchen to get a utensil when I just happened to look out the window to see the entire grill engulfed in flames. The grill was on my wooden deck, under the eaves, next to the brick house. I ran out, pulled the grill into the middle of the deck turned the tank off and doused it with the garden hose. Luckily the house did not catch on fire. After it cooled down I opened the cover and found that 2 of the burgers were still raw. That means the outside of the grill was what was actually on fire. I did not contact the company or amazon because it was past the return time frame. The burner regulators were bad as I had suspected from the start. It went to the curb the next day with a huge sign that said FOR SCRAP ONLY!!!! ... show more

  • Good Quality - Difficult Assembly
Style: GA5403B
After reading many reviews before making this purchase, I was worried about the product being damaged in freight. It was packed so well I don't think it would have been possible to scratch or damage unless it fell 5-10 feet off a dock. However, I will warn everyone now, if you are not an experienced assembler or have access to such a person DO NOT BUY THIS GRILL. I have assembled some of the most complex equipment in my life, but this Grill took me over 9 hours, mostly because of the EXTREMELY POOR assembly instructions. This is not a plug and play assembly, and if you go into it with a screwdriver and adjustable wrench only, you will be very frustrated. There was ample hardware that was marked relatively well, and all the parts were included. Be sure that you find and release all the fixtures that are cable tied under the main console. If you miss one (which I did), there is no way to get them out without going back several steps. The side burner controller and igniter are very difficult to fit in next to each other, and the Instructions were absolutely no help. I finally settled for the side burner knob to be slightly at an angle. The rigidity of the gas line to that burner knob made it near impossible to maneuver around the igniter assembly. The overall quality of the grill is very good. All of the parts seem robust and rust resistant. One of the burners does not light with the igniter, but I can live with that. Most grill igniters stop working within a couple of years anyway. To get a rotisserie included along with a searing burner for this price point is unheard of. So far I am pleased with the performance. ... show more

  • Love this thing!
Style: GA5403B
While my first order was damaged in shipping and I had to hassle with Amazon CS to get it reshipped, once I received the grill, I was thoroughly impressed! Assembly, while a tad time consuming, was not as difficult as most reviews here make it seem. If you can assemble a Lego kit, you can assemble this grill no problem. About a 2hr assembly time solo by my estimation, not bad given the size of the thing. I've used it a dozen and a half times already and every single time it's heats evenly and quickly. The top rack gets a nice distributed heat that I've used to cook jalapeno poppers and stuffed mushrooms with great success. The grills are a breeze to clean, as are the drain pans. Overall build quality is great too with a few minor nitpicks such as a small dent on the side of the hood and the left side tray not snugging up as well as it should. In the end, I am very pleased with this purchase and will be recommending Royal Gourmet to my friends and family PS: haven't used the rotisserie feature yet but will update when I do. ... show more
