UPDATE January 2023 - still intact and still looks good. I’m beyond pleased. This is very cute, easy to put together and reasonably well made. Would make an attractive chill space for an indoor pet although rabbits will likely chew on the wood. It is NOT, however, appropriate as a stand-alone house for any animal, even though it is advertised as such. Is would be a matter of seconds for any raccoon, fox or skunk to break open and get to your pet. I’m using it as a private nesting box inside of a well-fenced hen yard. The stain is very, very lightly applied and I doubt this would last more than a season anywhere it rains much. I added two coats of marine varnish and so far it’s staying dry. Despite the limitations I will order another if it survives this winter. They really are attractive as a nest box and cheaper than I could make it myself.

I had purchased this for a single hen that we ended up watching over so that itd have a small coup to stay in during the winter where we could monitor her. Its very snug, the hen is a decent size so she can sit and lay in it and I think she's squeezed through the door but wasnt her preferred place. Granted the size issue is user error because I believe dimensions are stated, but I had overlooked it, so that was to no fault of the company, just keep an eye on it. Realistically this could be used for a smaller bird, comfortably, like a quail, or could be used for a smaller cat or rabbit as a sleeping nook. As for weathering? I cant really say for sure, its held up so far outside in the winter this year but its not being used so I havent examined it closely, we ended up using an old dog box for the hen (improvised but it worked, shes not actually our bird and we just wanted a shelter for her during winter storms) Now the assembly was incredibly easy, just need a screw driver, its very simple and forward. Though the material feels a bit flimsy. Its sturdy enough when being built, I just wouldnt trust being rough with it at all. All in all, not a bad product, it wasnt for us. Be aware of what you are buying and keep an eye on the price. This was affordable and theres reasons, but again, for a small bird, cat, or single rabbit it will probably be alright

I bought this for a duck couple. They have a large enclosure and shade from a decent tarp, but they don't have privacy for sleep or egg-laying. Overall, I am happy with this purchase. 1. This was very well packaged. I don't like styrofoam, but the pieces were cut with such accuracy that nothing was scratched or had a chance to break. If you (the manufacturer) can, please consider using only cartons that can be shredded for compost or recycled. 2. The wood smells of myrrh. I hope this means it is resistant to rot; I could not find much information online. 3. They enclosed spare screws for all sizes (one each) - how considerate! 4. The sheet with drawings was sufficient for me, perhaps not for others. 5. Make sure to have also a smaller Philips screwdriver on hand; the B screws will slip with the larger size driver. The B screws are also not the most perfect wood screws. 6. It would have been good if the screw hole position for the large hinge had been marked. One of my cats (photo, he is a big boy) saw fit to trample over the roof and down my back while I was screwing and holding the lid up with my head :D This part was the only tricky, unfun of the assembly; the rest was easy. 7. I placed wood shavings on the floor for comfort. The female duck checked it out this morning and spent some time in there with the drake guarding; this may be enough privacy for egg-laying. They stay together, and the box is too small for both, so it won't likely be used for sleep.

This is super cute and really easy to assemble, however I expected it to be bigger than what it is. I bought it for 2 stray cats that live behind my work and I don’t believe that they will both fit in here. It seems to be sturdy but the floor has gaps in it I am not really sure why.

I bought and used this for my hen, Sara, when she went broody. It not only made a perfect little broody nest for her but it made for a perfect place for her to hatch her chicks as it's low to the ground with a short ramp for the babies to get in and out. Well made. Warm and cozy. Door closes for added safety. I used this until the chicks were about 8 weeks old, cleaned it and put it away for future use next time one of my hens has eggs to hatch! That being said it would work perfectly for a permanent nest as well. It's exactly the right size for the nesting pads. The pads fit perfectly in the bottom. This could definitely be used for a permanent nest for even the biggest hen or a warm cozy feral cat house. Love it!

UPDATE: It's put together and looks/works good. I read another reviewer who mentioned the wood was soft and easy to screw into. I tried again, by hand, and noticed the holes are predrilled on some parts, but not the receiving ends. I then found the wood definitely soft enough to receive the screws. So it's a bit of a double edged sword that the wood is so soft and no drill needed, (yay), but also the quality is the wood is not very great. But I am way happier with wood over plastic, it's cheap price and ease of assembly. ******* OLD PARTLY INACCURATE REVIEW: Had I known I would have to drill the holes for all of the screws (about 20 of them - I wouldn't have purchased. Buyers need to know this ahead of time because there are plenty of people who are not handy enough - or don't even own drills - to do something as simple as drill holes.

Came with broken and busted pieces. There's also a very strong smell to it. In the instructions and information, it states that you cannot have it out in the elements and to not rinse it out/wash it, etc. But yet it's supposed to be waterproof?
