I had such high hopes for this vacuum. My Dyson went kaput (probably because of my shag rug), so I did a search for “best vacuum for shag rugs” and this was #1 on the list for vacuums with a power cord. I first used it on my carpet in the bedroom…and it worked great. Was kind of disgusting actually to see how much animal hair it pulled out. Then, for the real test, I took it over my shag area rug and it burned up the belt & the brush in just a matter of minutes. After only one use it already needs a new brush, belt, and cover that holds it all together cause the plastic pieces melted together. I’m so disappointed! 3/19/23…update: I contacted Amazon and their customer support was great. I was given a couple options and decided to go with contacting the manufacturer. Their customer support was amazing as well. They sent me all the replacement parts I needed (quickly too) and the vacuum is working like a champ now. Since I needed a new vacuum for all the other surfaces in my house I decided to keep it. I’ll just have to find something else to keep my shag carpet clean. I’ve bought so many vacuums over the years including Miele, oreck commercial, Dyson, etc. I reach for this vacuum every couple days because it works SO well ! Reasons: -picks up a truly disgusting and impressive amount -very easy to use (best every day wall to wall carpet cleaning, best for deep cleaning carpeted stairs) -I can empty the canister with no mess and no frustration. No impossible fiddling or twisting. Tip: lower the canister into an empty clean trash bag, then using the bottom of the trash bag covering your hand, press the bottom button of the canister to release the dirt at the bottom of the bag. And shake the bag a little w the canister in it. This prevents dust from floating up in the air. If necessary I also use the trash bag like a glove and swirl my hand to grab anything wadded up. I never let the canister get over a third of the way full. -doesn’t smell bad or kick up dust when I vacuum -perfectly weight balanced so doesn’t tip over at the slightest breeze and is not heavy to use I think bissel engineers know wtf they are doing ... show more

I had the BISSELL Power Force Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum 2191 for almost 6 years. I am really particular about the floors in my work and residence. I think it’s something after living in Europe where we clean the floors more often. After my Bissell 2191 I decided to try a well reviewed backpack vacuum. I have vacuumed both carpeted rooms with it 1-2 times each week. And, I kept finding hair from my shedding pup. So I decided to go back to a belt driven Bissell. Since the cleanliness of the floors is my pet peeve and I’ve been vacuuming at least once every week (with a shedding Labrador) I thought, “I doubt I’m going to pick up much on the first run with this new Bissell 2252.” I’m amazed for 2 reasons, 1) I honestly had no idea what the backpack vacuum was not picking up, 2) the material picked up in the photos is from only two spaces… everyone otherwise would have thought were clean. I had purchased a cordless vacuum on Amazon, it was horrible, and I returned it the next day. Watched a lot of videos for corded vacuums and ended up watching a video on this vacuum on a YouTube channel Vacuum Wars. I have a 20 year old corded Bissell that has been great, but it came to an end. I have purchased a Bissell carpet cleaner, and I love it. So I decided to go back to Bissell for a corded vacuum after the cordless one was not good at all. I have six cats, lots of cat hair, this vacuum absolutely does the job! It’s the main reason for my purchase. It’s lightweight, maneuvers fantastic, I love the attachments, and I’m one to clean my vacuum after about two or three times using it, and it’s also super easy to clean. Taking apart and cleaning! MUST BUY!! I have 3 boys, a husband who's work boots bring home tons of gravel, dust, and dirt, 3 dogs, and a cat this vaccum is absolutely amazing. Honestly, this is probably the best vaccume suction I've ever had. I went 5 rounds with my old vaccum and nothing was getting picked up it was probably a generation or 2 old from this model, but 1 round with this vaccum it filled where the old one didn't even pick anything up. I have read some reviews where it says not long lasting, so I will update in the future aboit longevity. As of now though, the best suction to a vacuum I've had. It is a little bulky and because it is a swivel the top kind of flims around, but never to the point of falling over just looks unsteady. Other then that I'd buy this product over and over. I could not recommend enough ! I was doing lots of research on getting a new vacuum and i keep coming back to this one because of the reviews! It did not disappoint ! I thought my floors were clean (low carpet) but i just wanted to try it when i first got it because who doesn’t ? It sucked up so much i was disguised that my floors were that dirty ! I have 4 dogs and ALL of the dog hair was picked up ! I have never had a vacuum that does that ! The suction is incredible! Great Vacuum! Bought it in Nov 2019 and it is March 2023 now and the band finally broke, it was super easy to fix. I am not a handy gal and it took less than 5 minutes after watching a youtube video on how to fix it. I had an old dirt devil, took the band out of that one and put it in this Bissell and it works like a charm. The suction is strong, easy to clean the filter, it's basically a sponge that you rinse off and it dries pretty fast. The bagless canister is easy to remove and empty, makes cleaning fast and not much of a big deal. The vacuum isn't too heavy..... just an overall great buy. I have pets and it picks up the hair and kitty litter good too. Bought one for my Mom the same year and her vacuum is in tip top shape, and the band hasn't broke on hers yet. ... show more
