  • DIY hair at home- yes you can do it! And no $200+ salon bill to pay!🙌🏻 DIY hair at home- yes you can do it! And no $200+ salon bill to pay!🙌🏻
Color: 6A Light Cool Brown Size: 5.85 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Okay hear me out!! DIY boxed hair dye to use at home.. yup sounds terrifying. I’ve never dyed my hair myself or anywhere other than at a well known salon with someone I trust with my life to do it for me. Well these days who has $200+ to throw at a salon?! Enter, the Clairol demi-permanent hair dye in cool light brown. This is super close to the same color my hairdresser used on me when I decided to go back to my natural hair color after being blonde for over a decade. Well after paying so much to get it redone a few times as it washed out and grew, I had to consider my DIY options. 👇🏻 I added before and afters for reference of course but wow 🤩 LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! First off, this color is great and really brought my hair back to life with covering up the blonder color that is growing out still (see my before photos for reference- it’s grown out like halfway-ish so far). The cool light brown color has no warm tones in it. I do not do warm/red tones of any kind in my hair and it would not go with my skin tone so it’s important that I found something that is strictly cool color tones. This also covered up my grays that I unfortunately already have on the top smack dab middle of my head so that was a nice bonus! Second, the dye adds a CRAZY amazing glossy look and feel to your hair. I am most definitely using this again in a couple months if not just for the glossy effect ✨ It revived my hair and brought me back from drab to fab! The application is super easy- I mixed it up as instructed and poured the whole bottle all over my head and made sure to cover it all. 20 minutes of sitting and then showering it off and voila!🤌🏻 Not to mention, they include a conditioner with this and it is amazing!! Also adds glossiness to my hair everytime I use it. There is plenty of conditioner to use and maintain for after the dye job which is nice. I only wash my hair once a week so I expect it to tide me over until I dye it again. Again, my photos here speak for themselves but go ahead and DIY that sh*t girl! We saving moneys in 2026 okurrr 💅 ... show more

  • This worked great for me!
Color: 7A Dark Cool Blonde Size: 5.85 Fl Oz (Pack of 3)
I used the 7A dark blonde color and loved it! I used it to cover brassiness and blend grays and it worked perfectly. Please note, this is DEMI permanent color, it does not have ammonia or peroxide/bleach in it so it will not lighten your hair- only stay same tone or darker. I think bad reviews don’t understand this. My natural hair is brown with some grays. I wanted to add some blonde to blend the grays in better, so I gradually lightened it over a few months (John Freida go blonder spray). That worked well and I really liked it, but as my hair grew out and I tried to add the lightening spray mostly to darker roots, it still always got on the lengths of my hair and eventually turned all of my hair too light and too yellow/orange brassy (as brown hair tends to do when bleached out). I tried toning it with purple conditioner and purple toning mask (Overtone brand, lightest purple so it wouldn’t darken too much or turn bluish) but it didn’t work at all, still very yellow. So I gave this a try and it was great, completely covered the yellow and partially covered the grays, it looks very healthy and even and blended now. Looks just like the box color AND also left my hair very healthy and glossy. It also smelled very nice. I have no complaints, the 20 minutes suggested in the directions worked perfectly and I’ll use it again if/when this gradually washes out. I prefer this over permanent color because I didn’t want it to look too flat or completely cover all my grays (and give me obvious roots as it grows out). If you are looking for a dye that will blend but still leave some high/low lights, and a softer root line, this is it. ... show more

  • Good color and product. No damage to hair.
Color: 5C Brass Free Medium Brown Size: 5.85 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I use this every other time I dye my hair to decrease the effects of box dye damage. The color is right and matches my permanent dye color. It does wash out and will fade like it’s supposed to over a couple of weeks. I don’t wash my hair often so it actually lasts longer for me. My hair is 100% white- gray naturally so I was worried it wouldn’t cover my roots. Bc I dye it dark brown those roots really show. But It does cover them. It makes them brown but not as dark brown as a permanent dye. Way better than pure white though. I just came back and ordered 3 more boxes because I’m happy with it. ... show more

  • A Very Good Demi-Permanent Dye
Color: 8 Medium Blonde Size: 5.85 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
My hair had been damaged by using a strong permanent hair dye that contained a bleaching agent. I also sit out in the sun a lot so that didn't help my hair any. I decided to try this demi-permanent hair dye in the medium blonde shade. This is truly my natural hair color. Since I needed all-over coverage due to too much lightening, I followed the directions for all-over coverage, not just the roots. First, it was very easy to mix. Just gave the bottle (with the dye mixed in) a good shake. Used the enclosed gloves. Then I applied it. It was a bit gloppy so wear an old towel around your shoulders and make sure you wipe up any spills. I had to use my own hair covering (a disposable food bowl cover does the trick!) I did not shampoo as it said to do afterwards. I just used the conditioner it comes with. Now for the result: slightly darker than I expected. More like a dark blonde. After a week though, it lightened to more of a honey blonde with some highlights. After two weeks it was more like the color I wanted. Now it is almost five weeks and I am due to using this dye once again, as it faded considerably. Note that I do shampoo and condition my hair every day. I bought this demi-permanent in medium blonde again as it did make my hair look healthier and didn't damage it at all. At this time, I don't want to go a shade lighter than this. ... show more

  • Natural looking color, gradually fades, no damage.
Color: 5 Medium Brown Size: 5.85 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Natural looking color, gradually fades, no damage. Smells so much better than typical dyes. It is quick and easy and your hair is left feeling and looking healthier than before. And it comes with a fairly large tube of a wonderful conditioner that you use once a week in between touch ups. I refuse to use any other dyes. And it leaves my hair healthier than the salon ever did, plus costs hundreds less. ... show more

  • Covers my solid white Covers my solid white
Color: 5 Medium Brown Size: 5.85 Fl Oz (Pack of 3)
Covers solid white nicely. You can see in one photo very gray wild hair, another where white hair frames my face. The orange sweatshirt is immediately after coloring and black shirt photo was taken a week and a half post-coloring. Two boxes of color every 3-4 weeks and the job is done. The color I use most often is Brown #5 and does a great job covering the white if the color solution is left on long enough… I have a lot of hair and one box just wasn’t cutting it. Gray came early for me and white soon followed… at 53 years old I just got tired of the white and needed a change. Sooooo… 35 minutes on the roots for box 1 and then the second box on the remainder of my hair for another 15 minutes. Done. When I followed the advised time on the box, my hair ended up very red… that’s always been how my hair holds color… red first. So I leave in much longer and it works perfectly ending up with a rich brown. The color does take a couple of washes before it looks just right to me but I get a lot of compliments from those who know me and also from those who don’t know my hair is actually white. Aside from adding extra time, the directions are simple. Put the gloves on and mix one bottle into the other bottle, give it a shake apply it to the roots first. Set your timer. It can be messy so watch out for that. Be sure to have towels at the ready for cleanup. Sometimes I use a Q-tip and put color on my eyebrows but I don’t always love the results. What I do love is that overall the process is easy and straightforward. The color treatment and conditioner give me shiny healthy hair and it smells nice. I like that it fades a little over the 3 weeks and doesn’t have a hard line where the new growth is. The color never fades all the way on the full length of my hair it just lightens. This option is much better than my friends and colleagues who pay a ton of money to get their “hair did” at the salon and have a white skunk stripe down their part while waiting for next appointment… waaaaay cheaper, better coverage, and more available, as in Amazon delivers and it’s easy peasy salon hour at my kitchen sink. Note that the color still saturates differently throughout the hair because of the different shades of gray and white that is applied to. So there’s still a natural depth in the color. Lessons learned: if you’re experimenting with leaving the color on longer, the main thing is each time write down or keep track of how long you leave the color on the roots plus then the extra time on the rest of your hair… It has never harmed my hair to leave it on longer, but since I want the roots to be darker than the rest of my hair I just experiment a little bit. So try until you get the time right. When you’re doing a touchup on your roots, you definitely still want to put some through your hair at the very end of the time…don’t skip that even if it is just 5 min. If you don’t, the rest of your hair will be dull and lackluster. And during root touch-ups you definitely also do not want to leave the color on alllll of your hair the whole time that you have it on the roots. It will get super super dark, and the roots will be lighter where the color has only been once… unless that’s what you want. I’m not sure how it’s possible with two boxes of color, but I always find a way to miss a few random strands of silver. Watch the forehead and temple hairline color also and it will help the results look more natural. I keep experimenting/adjusting the time (mostly because I’m impatient) and am very very happy with the color every time. ... show more

  • Amazing alternative to other brands and doesn't burn your scalp at all! Doesn't stink either.
Color: 2BB Blue Black Size: 5.85 Fl Oz (Pack of 3)
Shocked by how far this brand has come. I first tried them when I was a broke college student and had to sacrifice to buy a box, back then it was like $30+ a box and I really wanted to use more natural, less harsh chemical hair dyes. Back then (2012-2014) not only was it super expensive for just one box but the color pay off sucked. I was so upset I remember so it took me a while to come back. So glad I gave them another shot because I absolutely loved this hair dye wow! It had minimal bleeding once I washed it the first two times and that's super helpful. Plus the richness of the color is so good! Even after over a month the hair dye is staying put. Although I only wash my hair once a week. I was not expecting this to be as good as it was since it's a more "Natural" hair dye but it blew me away and i'm 100% only buying this brand moving forward. The 3 box deal is unmatched too. I was previously buying the 3 box deal with Revlon but this is my new jam. I think the standout pro of this hair dye is how it DOESN'T burn your scalp or stink too much. Hubby and I are ttc and I really can't be exposed to too many chemicals right now in case I do end up pregnant these months so I really needed something that wasn't going to be so corrosive. Big negative about this brand is that the grey coverage isn't that great. It does cover greys just doesn't erase them fully fully. So keep that in mind. I have nearly a full head of greys and this covered like 98.9% of my greys. There were a few leftovers here and there, maybe like 10 total. Very unnoticeable but if you're a perfectionist it will bother you. ... show more

  • Good option for a light refresh or natural tone, not for intense color change.
Color: 5 Medium Brown Size: 5.85 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Easy to use and gentle on hair. The formula feels mild and does not leave hair dry. The color looks natural and the shine after coloring is nice. The only downside. The color result is not strong. If you expect a bold change or strong coverage, the effect looks soft and subtle.
