PRODUCT REVIEW: CKG TREON METAL DETECTOR This metal detector offers a good balance of professional features at a price that won't break the bank. For someone new to the hobby, it provides plenty of room to grow without needing an immediate upgrade. EASY ASSEMBLY: Putting this unit together was straightforward and quick. The parts fit well, and it didn't take long to have it ready for the first outing. The build feels sturdy enough for regular use in different terrains. WATERPROOF CAPABILITY: A major plus is the IP68 waterproof rating. Being able to use the 11-inch DD coil and the rest of the unit underwater (up to about 16 feet) makes it great for beach hunting or shallow water in creeks and lakes. Having that extra protection against the elements is a big relief. CONTROL PANEL AND SETTINGS: The main control panel is packed with options. It includes four detecting modes: Coin & Treasure, Prospecting, All Metal, and a built-in Pinpointer. For a beginner, there is a learning curve to understand the multi-segment discrimination and ground balance settings, but the digital display is clear and provides helpful feedback. OVERALL PERFORMANCE: With a high frequency of 18.75 kHz, it does a good job of picking up targets. Itβs lightweight enough that it doesn't wear out your arm during a long afternoon of searching. Itβs a good detector for the money will do pretty much anything you want. Iβm happy I choose this over paying a couple hundred more for a better known brand.

This metal detector was very easy to put together, and figure out how to use quickly right out of the box. I really like how easy it is to compact to a smaller size to travel with. I have a much more expensive metal detector that has a steeper learning curve to operate, so this CKG Treon detector was a nice addition to be able to pick up, and go hunting in the woods for treasure. The headphones included are very comfortable, and the weight of the metal detector is very similar to my expensive model. If you're not ready to spend a thousand dollars, but want a professional easy to use detector this ones for you. The price is incredible for the quality, and features it has. Would make an excellent gift for someone new to metal detecting, or just wants to upgrade to one with more features. They are not kidding with the title - this is a true professional grade metal detector. Definitely for adults, children would probably get frustrated with it. I am by no means an expert but I was able to put it together and start testing it out in my backyard pretty quickly. Thankfully, the instruction book is very useful and well written with lots of details. My old metal detector had a fraction of this unit's capabilities. Fortunately you can start using this one quickly without having to understand all of the functions. When you are ready to deep-dive into the metal detecting world, this unit will take you very far. Installation and set up is fast and easy. The head unit is rechargeable (USB-C) and pops on and off for easy transportation. Backlight is nice and bright. Connectors on the back are easy to use and provide great water-protection. Took me a minute to figure out how to charge it back up... the USB-C interface is actually under the screw cap that doubles as the headphone jack. Pole is highly extendable and the arm guard is quite comfortable.

After watching all the treasure hunting shows on TV and the Duck Commander Guys searching for artifacts, I knew I needed to get my own metal detector. This one is a really nice setup at a super fair price, I can't believe how nice the headphones they included are. Everything is fairly light and comfortable to hold and swing around looking for treasures. Can't wait for the ground to thaw out in the spring so I can go locate some cool stuff!

Metal detecting is not as easy as they make it look in the online videos. It requires a learning curve. I already had a metal detector, but this one is more sophisticated. It works well to help you determine high and low value targets and accurately pinpoint location. The detector is waterproof, as you can see from the accompanying picture. I found some old beer cans and a hunk of metal. No coins yet, but I expect to see some as I get better at using it.
