The seat part is fine. They're pretty comfortable, and they look nice. The reason they get 4 stars (again, I'd say it's more like 3.5 stars) is because the pedestals are very cheap. The way you assemble them, with just a toenail screw holding them in the corners, is bound to cause you problems. I would recommend gluing them when you put them together. Most of mine have come apart and the only way I can keep them together is to predrill and put a finish screw right through the face of the wood and into the tongue of the side it's joining. I've also used a pin nailer to put a small finish nail through the back side of the wood and into the tongue, but there was a risk of splitting if not done in just the right spot. I settled on 4 stars and not 3 for one reason -- the price. For what you pay, it might be worth the hassle of the extra work assembling them. ... show more

These chairs are the most beautiful bar stools I have had for my rec rooms. And also the most UNCOMFORTABLE. The chair is tall & hard to get in, the seats are super small, not at all good size for people with a few extra pounds, and not comfy to sit in as cushion is super padded. For the money I spent I could have found something better at the furniture store….. ... show more

As already noted these are without a doubt not counter height. I had to cut some four or so inches off each leg to get them to fit. That being said once I did that they fit perfectly and they were very good for the price. It was worth having to cut the legs down. If you are going to cut the legs you will need a miter saw that can cut at two different angles because of the slant of the legs compared to the floor. I was able to cut them All off and although I’m sure they aren’t all exactly the same down to the millimeter, I was able to rid the chair of any wobble using their “drop” test. The instructions literally tell you that if they have a wobble you should drop them to the ground, so I did, and each chair that had a slight wobble lost it’s wobble without fail. What a hoot! Anyways, I’m not a professional at all so don’t be intimidated by the cutting as long as you have the tools. You can measure the angle by putting the leg on the ground flat to the bottom and putting a level where you want to cut and drawing a line across with the level. Then use your level to draw another line the other side of the leg starting at the same Point. Using your miter saw get the two angles to the right point and snip it. It’s not difficult and again if it’s not perfect, just drop the chair! ... show more

They stools were sort of defective though and after contacting their customer service, not only did they offer to return and replace all the stools but rather than going through that hassle, they sent me replacement stools free of charge.
