I was nervous to purchase this since there weren't any reviews but I am honestly so impressed. It's very sturdy and well made. I'm 5'4" and had to remove a section of the handle (after the picture) because it was so tall. I have hemp bedding now and it screens the bedding out nicely while keeping the mess in. I take care of a mix—chickens, a couple rabbits, and a senior dog—and this tool’s already been put through a bunch of different jobs. I like that the handle can go short or long depending on what I’m dealing with. When I’m in the chicken run, I keep it fully extended so I can get everything without crouching. When I’m in the corner of the dog’s space, I shorten it down and use one hand. The shovel and rake heads feel solid. I was worried the rake part would be flimsy, but it’s actually got a nice weight to it. We’ve got chickens, a couple of dogs, a sandbox for the kids, and a cow pen out back, so there’s always something that needs cleaning up. The curved metal scoop is strong but not heavy. It holds a surprising amount, which saves a lot of bending and lifting. What really won me over, though, is the handle adjustability. I didn’t expect to care about that, but being able to switch between a short handle for close work and a long one when I don’t feel like kneeling is a real bonus. I got this scooper not too long ago, the handle has several sections, so you can make it the exact height you need. The metal scoop is fairly large and has that curve to it, which means fewer trips back and forth. It seems like it's built to last. This is a great scooper. My chickens are only a few months old so I am still learning, but I’ve tried many scoopers that have not worked for me. Their dung isn’t very big, so it was nice to find a scooper to get the smaller pieces. This works really well in my coop, and soon my run will be all sand so it will be easier to clean. Just tried this poop scooper out recently. It’s lightweight and simple to put together. The scoop is metal and feels durable. The rake part works pretty well to clear feathers too. I also like the fact that I can switch the handle length depending on what I’m doing.     • Good scoop, okay handle
I will preface by saying I am growing weary of the screw together metal handles for garden and outdoor tools. Sure assembly is quick and easy and there is minimal hardware needed to keep cost down and be able to ship in a smaller box, but practicality is sacrificed. If you try to turn something over the handle begins to unscrew in the middle so you have to stop and tighten it back up then try to turn whatever you need to the opposite way. Okay, now that part is out of the way, the actual scoop part seems decent after a couple of uses. I use pine shavings for bedding and most of them sift through just fine. This last bag i bought had some bigger pieces that didn't sift through very well but the last bag would have just fine. I'm doing deep litter method anyway so this was just testing out by doing a few scoops, but this will help when I go to do my next clean out, but I may fashion a solid handle before then. ... show more
