The Champion Power Equipment 100137 3-inch Portable Chipper-Shredder is designed to dependably deal with branches, brush, leaves and yard debris by transforming them into mulch or decorative accents for your yard. Equipped with two hardened-steel chipper blades, the chipper chute is designed to handle limbs and branches up to 3 inches in diameter. The shredder chute has a 13.8-inch shredder blade and four shredder hammers, perfect for shredding shrubbery, leaves or yard debris up to ½ inch or less in diameter. Included with your chipper shredder is a tough 2-bushel collection bag for easy cleanup or mulch application. The durable steel frame is built to last. Powered by a 338cc Champion single-cylinder OHV engine with a 1.6-gallon fuel tank and designed with a low oil shut-off sensor, this unit has a 1.2-quart oil capacity (recommended 10W-30). Pleased I purchased this chipper over others. Although a little pricey, I believe the quality is good enough to last for several years going forward. Nice wheel size for moverability. Thicker metal than most others. Assembly was enough although it took sometime to put together. What I disliked most is when you have a jam you have to manually disassemble to remove. Time consuming. After a few uses you will know the machine limits, but it is a learning curve. Recommend! ... show more

    • Good power, no issues, doing the job.
I have 1.5 acre lot, 1/2 of which is woods. Lots of limbs on ground which is why I purchased this item. It has been 1.5 years and it works well. When I first got it, I would clog it, a lot. I have had to learn how to sort and feed it versus just throwing / forcing things in. But it has ground up every branch I could fit into it. And the leaf/twig feed has also worked well. It has a lot of power. I wheel it in and out of my garage with not much effort. No issues so far. ... show more

Great machine for 1 acre twice a year cleaning of Iron wood, Palo Verde, and Oleander hedge clean up. Started first pull and for about 15 hours of use and the first oil change I have had zero issues. The machine works as described so don't put anything but leaves or light clippings in the top...if you put half inch branches in you will get crushed and severed half inch branches out which will take a long time to convert to mulch. Excellent machine designed for residential high quality use. After 15 hours my inspection has shown zero loose bolts..No motor issues at all. I feel really good about this purchase. ... show more

I’ve only used this for about 5-6 hours and so far it’s been amazing. It’s been shredding debris with no problem, it’s done better than expected with green materials and has done wonderful with thick branches as well.

This unit was boxed up so very well and so easy to unbox. The chipper came with easy instructions, the bolt are of high quality steel. There were only 3 part to put together which was done in no time at all. It came with a nice long spout funnel so that the oil was easy to put into the engine from one of two places. I was so surprised to find how very well the chipper is made. Heavy steel, the paint job is bright yellow and looks like 100 coats. I have looked at so many chippers and you just cannot find one like this. I cannot say enough about it. It is heavy, the tires cannot blow, it has a really powerful engine, easy starting, low oil shut off, the inlet funnels are very lengthy and many safety features. Easy starting, great directions and works like a champion. I can't say enough about this wonderful machine ... show more

    • Chipper that does the job and doesn't disappoint!
Nice compact unit that delivers plenty of power to shred right up to the 3 inch recommended diameter. Easy to feed the brush, stick, and branches into the machine and makes quick work of it. It may struggle with solid green wide branches, but will still get through it. It's a hard pull to get the engine started and it feels like it barely gets going to start, but it does catch and puts to get going and then voile! May be a problem in colder weather, but so far good. Wishing for an electric start for this. My wife couldn't make the pull to start it. ... show more

The unit is not as big as a professional unit but has the power of some. This easily fits in my small shed. It has power for days and has so far chipped everything I have put in it. The branch chute is large enough to allow access but be safe. The bright yellow color makes it stand out. So far I am quite happy with the unit. It cranked on the second pull. The chipper/shredder works as good as expected. But changing the oil? Forget about it! The manual's pictures is NOT where the drain plug is located. I had to send a picture of both sides of the engine to the Champion Customer Service, and they put arrows on the picture to show were the drain plug is. They were timely and helpful in that respect. The manual advised to use a socket set to remove the drain plug, however, it's nearly impossible to get a socket set into the small area to remove the drain plug. I tried a wrench, no good either because no room to get a good torque on it. It's almost like I would have to remove one of the wheels, and a customer service rep said to loosen the bolts that mount the engine to the base plate...all to change the oil??? The engineers who designed this failed in that respect. ... show more
