I needed a heat source for a covered but open-sided carport at my campsite and found this heater to be a well-designed solution for specific scenarios. The installation is simple; it's lightweight and the included hardware makes it easy to hang securely. Its completely silent, fanless operation is a real benefit in that serence setting, and the official IP65 weatherproof rating means it can be left installed outdoors without concern. The heat output is very direct and focused. When positioned directly above, it provides noticeable, radiant warmth quickly, making it ideal for a single chair, a spot at a grill, or a small workspace. It functions as an excellent personal warmer. However, the warmth does not radiate outward very far. In my testing, moving just a few feet outside its direct beam results in a dramatic drop in effect. It is not designed to heat the air in a larger conversational seating area. At the time of this review, this was listed at $189.00, with a coupon available that brings the final price to $159.00. This is a well-built, silent, and waterproof heater that excels at providing focused, personal warmth - it's pricey, but if it meets your need it's probably worth the sale price. This outdoor electric ceiling heater comes with everything I needed to set it up except for a hook to hang it from the ceiling. I ended up needing an extension cord as well as the cord was not long enough to reach the outlet from the ceiling. It’s lightweight, but is also sturdy with a heat resistant top. I was worried about it getting too hot under our deck, but the top barely gets warm. It was super easy to install and it works great!! I can adjust the height easily so I’m getting as much heat as I want from it over my porch swings. The remote is the only way to control it, so I am sure to keep it safe so it doesn’t get lost.

I ordered this, thinking that it might warm up our patio on cooler winter nights. We live in south Florida, so it never really gets "cold", but it can go down into the 50's, and even 40's once in a great while. Our patio is fairly large, about 30' x 15', with one of the 30' sides open to the pool deck. I don't expect this thing to heat the patio the way one of those propane heaters would, just take the chill off a bit. I have a feeling it might not be powerful enough, so before I mount this to the ceiling and install an outlet, I'm going to rig it up temporarily to see whether it's worth it or not. And it isn't likely to get cold enough to try it out for a couple of months. Nevertheless, the suitability for my desired use shouldn't affect my review. The heater appears to be well made, and it does throw out a bunch of heat. It's somewhat modern in appearance, but of course, appearance is subjective. You do want to make sure you plug it into a GFCI protected outlet. Although I have not yet tested this in my desired location, I see no reason why I shouldn't rate it as 5-stars as it is as described and does what it says (although I did not test its waterproof claim). Once I test it out, I'll update this review with my thoughts. If it isn't powerful enough for our patio, I think it will work nicely on the much smaller front porch at our summer cottage.

This heater warms up quickly and the nine heat levels make it easy to find the right setting. The carbon fiber tube gives off steady, even heat and the timer is useful for outdoor use. Installation does take some time, but the performance matches what you would expect at the list price of $174.
