I’ve had this litter box for over a month now and I absolutely love it. I picked it after seeing a review on YouTube and decided to go with it as it was the budget pick over similar models and I wanted an open litter box to help my cat transfer from his Petsafe scoop free box. Set up: Assembly of the litter box was extremely easy and took less than five mins. However, set up to the app took a second. DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING but letters in your WiFi name or password. It simply wont show up. We ended up renaming our WiFi to fix this problem and luckily due to reading reviews beforehand I could quickly figure out this was my problem. Size: It is a good size litter box and similar overall footprint to my old scoopfree. Transition: I’m lucky to have a pretty easy going cat as far as getting him adapted to different litters and boxes, I think it did help that before the scoop free and crystal litter he had used regular clumping so he had no issues with transitioning back to clumping for the OpenX. I ended up just putting him in it after I was done setting up and showing him the clean cycle and he was good to go. I had left his other box set up next to it for about a week after setting up the OpenX but he immediately took to the OpenX. However, how the transition period looks like is more up to the individual cat. Cleaning/odor control: I did end up switching to the other grate offered as the one that comes with the litter box wasn’t getting all of the little bits in the clean cycle, however, I don’t see a huge difference where I feel like you would need to. I think the litter box stays pretty clean for my boy, however, due to having the dark grey litter box the clay litter does leave marks from cycling. As long as the drawer is closed, I don’t notice any odors and if you open the drawer I do recommend using the odor cubes/continuing to replace them after the initial as it does stink very badly if gone to long between replacement. I have changed out the bag every week and haven’t had any issues with that except for making sure the bag is properly aligned which fixing is just adjusting and reclosing the drawer. I have deep cleaned it twice with disinfectant and it disassembles easily and quickly for the deep cleans. The biggest thing I do recommend for this is getting another mat that goes under the litter to swap them out between deep clean cycles. Being waterproof they don’t like to dry and I will eventually get one so I feel like I can get it even cleaner. Overall it is extremely worth the money and good for cats that prefer an extremely clean litter box and pet parents who don’t want to scoop a box everyday.

I have had the LitterRobot3 from whisker for the last three years, that litterbox was great at first, but everything you had to do for maintenance was ridiculous and extremely time consuming, over the last year, it started throwing error codes(over torque codes) almost every other time it was used, I researched and found that apparently that was common and the reviews that mention it are often hidden...I was so fed up constantly having to troubleshoot and fix the error codes on top of taking it completely apart once a month to clean all the pieces(a lot of pieces and screws.. Frustrating) That brought me to researching other litterboxes to replace it with, there was no way I was going to spend another $700+ for a litterbox that let's you down before it pays for itself.... That brought me to this Litterbox, it caught my attention because I saw it was on sale(even if it wasn't on sale it's still less than half the price of that LitterRobot3), I read all the reviews here on Amazon, plus others on other review sites, at first I was skeptical, but I took the leap and bought it while it was on sale, and I'll tell you right now I'm glad I did! It was extremely easy to set up, it took me less than 10 minutes, my kitties took to it immediately, it is extremely quiet when it cycles, and finishes cycling in less than 30 seconds!, the app is awesome and recognizes my cats when they use it(after I added them into the app and binded them like the directions said) even my picky kitty will use it, she would refuse to poo in the LitterRobot3 which always meant extra mess and extra litterbox... She hasn't used the "extra" litterbox all week and has pood in this litterbox. I have only had this litterbox a week and already impressed with it! There's no smell, the deodorizer block it came with does it's job and does it well. I have 8 kitties and I foster babies throughout the year! So this is great for multiple cat households, I plan on buying another one of these! It took less than a minute to take it apart to clean it, quick and simple. I was able to wash it and put it back together in less than ten minutes, which made me extremely happy. The LitterRobot3 always took me 45 minutes+ to take apart, clean, dry, and put back together. The app took a day to figure out and get use to, but I'm my opinion that's normal with any new app! And I love that it was easy to figure out and the litterbox and app recognizes what kitty is using it! If you're looking for a great affordable litterbox that won't break the bank, is quiet, and doesn't smell, this is it!!!!

***FINAL UPDATE *** The replacement box arrived today and it weighs both cats properly. I’m very pleased with it and love how quick and easy it is to set up the open x boxes. Having two boxes on the app works well. I have the one that doesn’t weigh properly set to not update the cats weights and the new one that works properly is allowed to update their weights. When I break down the old box for cleaning I’m going to see if there is a reason I can sometimes smell dirty litter when I lean down close to the box. It doesn’t happen all the time so maybe it’s just right after it cleans. Overall I’m very pleased with the open x and both my mother and daughter have each bought one for their cats as well. Out of three boxes mine was the only one that had any problems so that’s just luck of the draw. Customer service took really good care of me and they were very friendly as well. ******************** I wanted a litter box that was more open than my current automatic litter box by FRCFRC. I’ve got a 14 pound cat that used the FRCFRC box but would also use the old manual scoop one I still keep out as my cats adjust to automatic litter boxes. The CATLINK box is larger and more open so she now seems to prefer it. I have problems with the CATLINK box though. It is working but it can’t tell the difference between the two cats, almost 5 pounds different in weight. It would notify me that Mochi was in the box even when she was with me and Churro was the one in the box. I contacted customer service and the email I sent just got an auto reply but nothing else showed up in that email thread. So I contacted them through Amazon and got faster service. But of course there is the delay of chatting with people from another country in another time zone. So I called as well because a litter box is pretty important when you have two cats! The first time I called I got a recording saying to try again so I waited a couple of hours and called back. I got a really nice person who walked me through several things to try to fix the problem. (NOTE if you decide to uninstall and reinstall the app, hoping that fixes app problems don’t delete the password and set up a new account! The box is bound to the app account and you won’t be able to setup the app). So customer service helped me get the box unbound from my old account and setup again. He also looked up the email I had sent and told me I had gotten a reply so I checked my spam folder and there it was. It came from a different email than the one I sent a request to. So if you email them, keep a close eye on your spam folder. I had saved the email I sent my help request to in my contacts but didn’t know I wouldn’t get a reply from the same email. The current box has been recalibrated for weight two or three times and the infrared sensors recalibrated once. It still doesn’t weigh correctly using known weights so CATLINK is sending me a replacement box. They do have great customer service and are very patient! Once the new box arrives and I set it up I’ll update. Until then, the current box does still recognize cats have used it and cleans itself automatically. It’s been frustrating but if the replacement works well it will be worth it. I love having a replacement litter pad (ordered separately) and replacement grate with smaller holes (also ordered separately and used with standard clumping clay litter). Being able to pull the bag closed before removing the container of used litter really helps prevent that blast of odor when cleaning out the box. The replacement grate with smaller holes does a good job of filtering the smaller clumps and being able to set the box to wait up to 30 minutes before scooping is great! I do have the child lock turned on to prevent curious kitties from hitting buttons. Soft stool burial is important to me because churro has a history of diarrhea. We haven’t had a problem lately but if she has it again I know what to set the box to do. It will wait five minutes then bury the waste then wait again before scooping.

We bought this April 5th, 2026. It's now June 18th, and we've already thrown the box away. It's been terrible, to say the least. Let me go through the problems one by one. 1. Setup: It took me a while to figure out how to make the box actually work. The bin construction is impractical. You line the bin with a trash bag that fits over the sliders so the basket can pull back through the litter, but the liner bunches up and the box errors out and won't run until you fix it. I shimmied things around until the error finally stopped. 2. App: IT. DOES. NOT. WORK. The Bluetooth wouldn't connect, and when it finally did it felt like pure luck, because the next day it stopped linking the box to my account. The app isn't fully developed and can't accurately report which cat used the box or their weight. Honestly, some of the features feel like they were added just to make the box seem "special" or "fancy." It disconnects, it doesn't save data the way it should, and you're better off using the manual buttons on the box itself. I can't share account info the way it claims you can. It always throws an error saying my account email isn't linked, which it obviously was, since I used it to sign up. There's no explanation or guide on how to fix it. If you log out and try to log back in, it doesn't keep your data. Even the litter box connection disappears and won't show in the devices section. 3. The actual litter cleaning: This is the most disappointing part. I can live with normal product quirks, but a litter box that won't even empty litter properly is the last straw for me. The filtering grill doesn't snap or lock into the back of the box. It's too wide, so it barely separates the clean litter, and when it rotates to empty, nothing dumps into the waste bin. It doesn't rotate far enough. You'll see the clumps just stacked up while the box rotates back to the start, leaving an excessive amount of dirty litter behind. And the longer you own it, the more it struggles to detect whether a cat is using it, so it just sits there. You have to unplug and replug it to get it to empty at all. It stopped cleaning automatically, and we eventually went back to scooping the box ourselves because that was less of a headache. 4. Odor control: There is none. There's no hood, and since the litter doesn't empty, the dirty litter just sits and starts to smell (another reason we went back to scooping). The mat isn't practical and leaves huge clumps that stick. It won't dump the big pieces, so once again you're scraping it until it drops into the waste bin. The odor neutralizer it comes with does nothing. Unfortunately, I was out of the return window, so I couldn't swap it for another model. I'd strongly suggest looking at a different model or brand, because this is not a budget-friendly alternative. $200 isn't cheap, which makes the wasted investment sting even more. Pay the extra coins if you can and don't settle on this one. I don't know how it got positive reviews. It's a waste of time, money, assembly, and performance. I rarely leave negative reviews. This is maybe my second ever, and it's just too disappointing to stay quiet about. It's not for multiple cats, too big for one cat, and it just hogs space in your home until you accept the loss and recycle it. Not recommended.

For the money if you check Reddit reviews and on here (if you trust 'Amababa-bay' reviews - I don't). It's plenty large for multi cat homes, has a neat function that continues to clean the litter more than once after it's been used to ensure all nasty materials are removed. And that great function is of course part of the reason why I removed one star and didn't give a five-star review. These types of automatic cat litter system inherently work the same way, and during their cleaning cycle they completely expose the litter tray below that holds all your kitties nasty matter, essentially making your room smell nasty if you don't have a decent air freshener system in place. Even with this function turned off, it's noticeably more 'fragrant' than my other automatic litter trays. It has a rubber seal on the poop tray underneath, however, it's way too short to make a meaningful connection with the bottom of the machine and that leads to constant odors pervading your space. Of course, the easy solution is to immediately go and scoop the nasty stuff into irregular Kitty poop bag and many will be happy to do that. However, if you like me and follow the sales pitch the seller uses to sell their device, and one is that it manages odors and doesn't need emptying for up to a week, you kind of expect to at least have a few days autonomy? Maybe I'm unrealistic? But isn't going and scooping out the nasty crap every day more or less the same thing as just using a large plastic box old school litter tray?

I've resisted automatic boxes for years. However, I just got two rambunctious young boys (especially stinky) and recently had surgery so I really wanted to simplify things. I initially had sticker shock when I looked into the more recognizable brands. This one is a good price! And it has been about 3 weeks and I'm very happy. The app/box hooked up quickly with my WIFI and the boys took to it quickly and, in fact, they think it is a game to watch it operate. My sister's old cat freaked the first day when she saw it in action, so I took it off auto for now. Now she has decided she likes it over her own regular box so I'm thinking of getting another for her. I have no issues with odor even with these really stinky kitties. However, it just so happened I set it up in front of a ozone air purifier so that may be picking up some slack. In any case, it has solved any oder issue! I have swapped out the litter and done a full clean once since having it (needed to change the type of litter) and it was not hard to pull apart and clean at all. It was wonderful to have it dump all the old litter for me after years of wrestling normal litter pans to dump them into garbage bags. Small issues: 1) Do NOT use light weight litter! It will stick where you don't want it to stick. I'm not minding getting the heavier stuff since I need so much less now that I'm not scooping by hand. I plan on putting it on soft stool bury when I switch to the automatic clean and think that should solve the tiny bit of sticking problem that remains since switching to the full weight litter. 2) It can't always tell the three cats apart since they all weigh close to the same amount. But since I'm not closely tracking them, I'm ok with that. I can watch who is in it from time to time and check to be sure no one has gained or lost too much weight and that alone is enough. Unless something goes terribly amok and awry in the coming months, I can happily give this 5 stars.

Great product and great customer service. I’ve had this product six months now and my cats use it with no problem. Very easy to set up and use. Apps are also easy. Always stays clean and never smells. I use this with two cats with ease. What makes it even better is last week my house got hit by lightening and it killed surged the device. I was so upset being outside the warranty and how well it has been working. I reached out to the company and explained what happened and they were so sympathetic and nice and offered to send me a whole new replacement at no cost! It even came in two days! Definitely a great product for reasonable price that I would recommend to everyone!

So far so good, we’ve had the multi cat open-x for a few months now and it works great even using pretty litter!!! it’s even fairly easy to clean. We have 3 male cats and we disassemble and clean it once a week and it takes around 10 minutes to do but that’s us scrubbing all the parts in warm soapy water so that ammonia and bacteria doesnt linger anywhere. We will def. purchase again as long as they keep the quality up. The only con i’ve noticed is price of replacement gel bars for the odor eliminator I’ll be purchasing amazon brand along with they should have added a odor eliminator tube to this one like they have the newer versions but we have adapted. Great product, works and functions great even with 3 cats.
