I've ruined a few cast iron skillets over the years, so I'm determined to follow the included instructions & keep this one in good shape. The pan is not huge (like some I've ruined) but it is big enough to fit two good sized burger patties in side by side. I've never had the benefit of using a press, but having oiled up both really well with vegetable oil before I began, I found these got extremely hot. Next time I'll know not to turn the heat on so high. My boyfriend griped that I was pressing too hard on the hamburgers and was going to expel all the fat (necessary for flavor) but I thought these came out just fine. If anything, a little overcooked because it was my first time using the set and I didn't want to give anyone botulism! The surface creates a nice evenly heated place to cook, and both pieces are definitely weighty, good quality. I used plastic spatulas on this, mainly because I don't have metal ones. But I think it's better so as not to scratch the surfaces. I still have a hard time * not* using soap, and I may end up going through a lot of paper towels, but after cooking I did my best to clear out the pan and grooves on the press with the spatula and then paper towels. Then I added a little more cooking grease and reheated super hot to condition the pan. So it's not the easiest thing to clean, but mostly that's because you have to reset your brain as to what " clean" really means. The flavor on a brand new skillet was already pretty darn good, I suspect it'll get even better with this extra " seasoning" activity. If you're willing to put in the time, I think this is a good value, the cost didn't seem particularly high.

This cast iron skillet and burger press set has a lot of potential, especially for smash burgers, bacon, steaks, and other high-heat cooking. The skillet itself feels heavy-duty and holds heat very well once heated properly, and the grooved burger press works nicely for flattening burgers and creating crisp edges. The burger press is honestly one of the better parts of the set because the weight helps create good contact with the pan, which is important for getting that classic smash burger crust. The cast iron also distributes heat evenly and works well on stovetops or grills. However, despite the listing claiming it is pre-seasoned, mine absolutely did NOT feel properly seasoned out of the box. Before using it seriously, I would strongly recommend fully washing, drying, and seasoning the skillet yourself. Without additional seasoning, the surface feels much more prone to sticking and moisture damage than expected. I also noticed how quickly it can rust if not cared for carefully. I accidentally left the pan on the stove and a little water got onto it overnight, and rust developed very quickly. That is fairly normal behavior for untreated or lightly seasoned cast iron, but it reinforces the fact that this pan needs proper maintenance immediately. Once seasoned correctly and maintained well, it performs much better and develops a more reliable nonstick surface over time. Like most cast iron cookware, drying thoroughly and lightly oiling after cleaning is important. Overall, this is a solid cast iron cooking set with a very useful burger press, but buyers should not expect a truly ready-to-use pre-seasoned experience right out of the box. Proper seasoning and maintenance are definitely necessary to get the best performance and avoid rust issues.

I am extremely impressed with this cast iron skillet and burger press set. Right out of the box, both pieces felt solid, heavy-duty, and exceptionally well made. The skillet heats evenly and retains heat beautifully, making it perfect for burgers, steaks, bacon, and just about anything else you want to sear. The burger press is a great addition and helps create perfectly smashed burgers with crispy edges and excellent grill marks. It also works wonderfully for bacon, keeping it flat while cooking for more even results. The pre-seasoned surface performed well from the start, and cleanup has been easy with proper cast iron care.
