There are six photos attached to my review: sandwiches going in the pan, sandwiches cooking, nearly finished, completed sandwiches*, what the pan looks like after cooking (I did brush butter directly on the surface of the pan), and after wiping out. *The upper most sandwich is lighter because the pan was not fully centered on my gas burner. I've heard a lot of good things about Caraway from some of my friends. When I saw this as an option on vine I decided to go for it. It's a good heavyweight skillet. The exterior color Marigold is very nice and bright. I decided the best test for this grill pan would be to make some grilled cheese or hot ham and cheese sandwiches. I thoroughly buttered my bread and prepared the sandwiches. I let the pan heat over medium high heat for several minutes and then lowered the temp as I placed the sandwiches in the pan. Everything toasted up nicely and left fancy little grill marks on each sandwich. The pan cooked very evenly. When I was done cooking with it all I had to do was use a slightly damp cloth to wipe everything out. I noticed that the ceramic coating was so non-stick that everything slid around in the pan. I've never owned a squarepan before but this is such a nice shape and size that I can make four regular grilled cheese with sandwich bread at the same time which I can't accomplish in a circular pan. I think this pan may be out of the range of some people but if you are in the market for a good square grill pan a highly recommend this one. ... show more

I ruined my last ceramic pan because I didn't pay attention to the no high heat instruction, and since I want to avoid PFOA/PTFE coatings I've switched to a carbon steel pan. I've finally got the seasoning down but there are times I still long for the convenience of a non-stick pan, whether cooking eggs or a juicy steak without the messy cleanup. Enter the Caraway Square Grill Pan, let's find out if it's the non-stick for me. Like other Caraway products I've used the construction, quality and finish are excellent. It has some heft to it, it's heavier than my carbon steel but not as heavy as a cast iron despite the 11" square dimension (which is bigger than a 11" round pan), there is no flex whatsoever and it sits perfectly flat against my stove top. The perracotta finish is striking and easily pops in my kitchen, standing out from the carbon steel or enameled cast irons. The handle is a good length so it does need a bit of space, it doesn't heat up too much in regular cooking but you'll need heat resistant handle sleeve or gloves when it comes out of the oven. Having learned from prior experience I now know to exercise patience when heating up the pan, this is probably dependent on the stove but I did find medium low to medium work best. Once warmed up I noticed it retains heat rather well, probably due to the thick gauge construction. Despite only on medium, I can hear the sustained sear after dropping a couple steaks that otherwise would have quickly cooled a typical non-stick pan. The 11" square size easily allows for two very large steaks or three large steaks without crowding the pan, this was a revelation having only used round pans before. But the defining moment is seeing the coveted sear marks on the steaks, wow. It truly lives up to "grilling time, all the time" slogan! My experience with eggs is a little different. Regular eggs come out just fine, and with the right amount of oil I can even get very close to the carbon steel crispness. As for scrambled eggs I subscribe to the Gordon Ramsay method of continuous whisking while cooking, and the raised ridges do get in the way and I profess preferring the carbon steel here, now that I've got the seasoning down. But this is billed as a grill pan not a general purpose pan and for that target it more than lives up to the billing. ... show more

I have been using Caraway ceramic pans for several months now and they've become my favorite pans to use. Their smooth ceramic surface makes food just glide off without the need to use extra oil or butter. When I saw this unique Caraway Square Grill Pan, I couldn't wait to give it a try and see how it stacks up. I'm always looking to add new tools and different cooking methods to my culinary playbook. Just like my other Caraway pans, anything I cook on this grill pan just slides right off onto my dish. The pan's attractive exterior color is a mix of copper, rose gold and terracotta. This roomy 11" grill pan is designed to allow me to bring the flavors of outdoor grilling into my kitchen with its unique square shape and grill lines that ensure those beautiful sear marks on whatever you're cooking - whether it be meat, vegetables, or paninis! The slick ceramic coated cooking surface. This not only allows for smooth gliding of food but also requires minimal oil for cooking, making it a healthier option overall. Additionally, the fact that it works well on all cook-tops, including induction, adds to its usefulness. I'm especially happy with how well it works on my induction stove-top, but it looks great, too! Another useful feature of the Caraway Square Grill Pan is that it's oven-safe up to 550 F, which means I can easily transfer my food from stove-top to the oven without any hassle. This has come in handy countless times when finishing off dishes or keeping them warm while preparing gravy or other parts of the meal. It also lets me brown a roast on the stove-top before popping it into the oven. This adds an extra layer of flavor to roasts. In terms of cleaning, I can simply rinse off and wipe away any residue with a soft cloth after each use. (The pan comes with a free cleaning pad for tough spots but I haven't needed it). A quick soak in soapy water followed by a gentle rinse and wipe down does the trick! With this freedom from having to scrub pots and pans, I don't hesitate to cook more often. The grill pan is free from harmful substances like PFOA, PTFE, lead, cadmium, and toxic metals, so I don't worry about chemicals seeping into my food. The Caraway Square Grill Pan has been an excellent addition to my kitchen pans collection. I would highly recommend this pan without reservation for anyone who wants to ensure that their time in the kitchen is well spent! ... show more
