  • Great printer especially for the price!
So I had to order a printer in a pinch because my old printer died and I had just purchased ink for my old printer so I wanted to get a printer that accepted the old ink so I could use my brand new ink that I purchased a week earlier. I thought $60 was a great price for a throwaway printer. I end up buying $50 printers every 5 years or so and just toss out the old one when it starts screwing up and that's what happened here. Installing it was SUPER EASY. No wires, nothing! You only need to attach the power cable and everything else happens wirelessly. QUICK INSTALLATION TIP! Don't use the CD that comes with it. There is a website on the installation instructions. Go to that website, download the software for the TS302 printer (this printer), and just follow the instructions! It takes about 10 minutes to do the install and align the printer heads and you're all set. I didn't have to fuss with my settings on the actual printer itself. I didn't have to adjust any wireless settings, it did all of that automatically. After that you're all set! Any other computer in the house attaches easily just buy going to printer settings in windows and clicking add printer. It should find it on the network and you just add it. I also tested my iPhone 15 Pro and same thing. I brought up a return label and the iPhone found the printer automatically and printed no issues. Prints fast, looks good, works flawlessly. The ink is also pretty cheap! You can buy a set of black and color ink for $30 for the XL cartridges. It also includes some starter inks but they most likely won't last long so you should buy some ink rather quickly. Anyway, that's it! Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Chose USB connection from the start - Adequate Printer Chose USB connection from the start - Adequate Printer
I've been using a 15 year old Dell-branded (Dell 720) Lexmark printer that I bought new in the box about six years ago. It worked well in spite of the Vista driver for it being erased with every Windows 10 update, that is until it finally stopped "communicating" with the desktop computer and other laptops. It died. I got this Canon printer to just slip into the old Lexmark's place, connected via USB. I'm not up on the modern world of printers so I wasn't sure what the printer end of the USB cable was that's been vaguely mentioned for this printer (that isn't provided). It's the same old printer cable type as always, as seen in one of my provided pics. You won't see the back of this thing anywhere else on the internet. The printer comes with ink, some 4x6 photo paper and power cable. USB cable is NOT provided. I set it up with the disc and chose the USB option. I have no interest in it being wireless. The installation process was SLOW as if it was trying to install to a Windows 98 computer instead of Windows 10. But once I got passed that it finally printed the alignment pages. Again, SLOW. It had me worried that this was an abnormally slow printer, but once the printer head alignment was complete and it printed a test page, it zipped right out, no problems. The setup process was tedious but not difficult. There's a grayscale printing option in the preferences before you print to save on color ink. That option is a must for me. Most things I print don't need to be in color. I mainly mention that because another review said that option wasn't available. It's there and also three options for print quality if you don't necessarily need it in high quality. I only print auto insurance documents twice a year and the occasional shipping label for holiday gifts or the odd ebay sale (shipping label+packing slip). I just like the convenience of a little document printer being around. Nothing fancy was needed. The ink cartridges seem easily attainable at Walmart or next door at Office Depot at "fairly" reasonable prices. Reasonable as far as ink cartridge prices go...still too expensive. If you need a printer for occasional use, this one should do the job. Read the instructions and be patient during the setup and everything should be fine. I have no doubt that connecting wirelessly should be just as easy. My network was already detected by the printer software and was asking if I'd like to connect. I've noticed that the cheaper Amazon stock of this printer runs out quickly but is quickly restocked. Don't pay $100 for this thing. lol What I've always called a "ghetto scan" does not make a scanner. lol ... show more

  • READ BEFORE INITIAL SET-UP TO SAVE HEADACHE
The instructions that come with the printer are garbage, the only useful thing was the website to go to to set-up on your device. There is a website for computer users and QR codes for iPhone and Android users which take you to your designated app store to download the Canon PRINT application. Computer users will have to download the required software before connecting to the printer, following the link provided in the instruction manual takes you to download and installation instructions. THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART The manual included with the printer wasn't helpful at all if you weren't able to connect per their instructions. If a light wasn't flashing for the network, instructions said to just go back to and earlier step and start over. THE WEBSITE however gave detailed instructions for what to do if your network lights weren't blinking or if there were other issues. I tried to summarize the entire process the best I could below. Long story short - just go to the website and you will be so much happier. The quality of hte printing though is great, I'm very very happy with how the printer works after I was finally able to get it set up. TO SUMMARIZE SETTING UP - unbox printer - remove all tape/plastic - plug in - power on - go to desktop website to download needed software for computer and/or download Canon Print app for phone - Once programs/apps installed successfully - look to see if the network light is blinking. FOR ME THIS WAS BLINKING AT FIRST BUT MY PHONE WASN'T ABLE TO FIND THE PRINTER - AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO FIND THE PRINTER WITH MY PHONE THE NETWORK LIGHT STOPPED BLINKING. The manual instructed me to go back to the instructions telling me to remove the tape after unpacking - useless. - IF NETWORK LIGHT NOT WORKING OR IF IT STOPS WORKING ----- PRESS AND HOLD THE DIRECT BUTTON FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN RELEASE - looks like a smart phone/tablet - NETWORK LIGHT SHOULD BEGIN BLINKING. - FOR ME I had issues setting up initially on just my phone so I went to the website and did the installation via my laptop. I was prompted to enter my printer's information to locate the right software to download right from the site. - Setting up software on MacBook Pro took moments - The computer couldn't locate the printer on the network so I was given alternative steps to what to try - this is where the suggestion of the direct button came. - PRESS/HOLD DIRECT BUTTON UNTIL NETWORK LIGHTS BLINKS - computer was able to locate the printer and connect to it - AFTER FULLY INSTALLED ON COMPUTER/LAPTOP THEN PUT IT ON YOUR PHONE VIA THE CANON PRINT APP ... show more

  • UPDATE #2. -5 stars. Pure trash. GARBAGE. You've been warned. Avoid like the plague.
UPDATE #2. It’s been working now for a while. Worked fine yesterday. Now I get 5 blinks of orange light. It’s a cartridge error. Now regardless of what cartridge is installed the error will not clear, even after 2 factory resets, even with the 2 previous cartridges that worked fine. It’s pretty obvious that this is planned obsolescence. Something in its software has locked in a bogus error that will not clear. I’d wager that it’s set to print only a fixed number of pages. All of the fixes for the cartridge errors on Canon’s site say “replace cartridge, if problem persists, contact Canon repair location for repair”. We all know good and well that no one services these cheap af printers, which forces you to purchase another printer and have to buy more expensive cartridges, which will undoubtedly have less ink and cost even more. It’s all one big scam. I’m even selling my Canon camera and I will never own a Canon anything ever again. "Easy" set-up.. BS. The directions only work if you have zero problems. If you do have a problem, it directs you did the section titled "plug in machine and turn it on". ffs. Printer has an incredibly weak Wi-Fi antenna, my device, laying on top of the printer, my Wi-Fi network visible in settings, yet the printer could not be found in the Wi-Fi network, yes the printer was set on Wi-Fi mode. So I try to direct connect. Once my device and printer formed a wireless network, which I had to try twice, I received message "saving settings" which stayed up for 20+ minutes, prompting a restart of the process. Tried it again, this time got message "gathering printer information", which has been up going on 45 minutes now. I'd been at this for well over 2 hours now. Save your money, spend a little extra for a printer that won't make you want to set it on fire. UPDATE. 2nd attempt failed. It was "acquiring information" until it quit doing so and went back to the beginning screen which showed no printer had been registered. ... show more

  • Pick a god and pray (but printer itself is great!)
Great printer for the cost, comes with its own ink, lightweight, and doesn’t take up a lot of space. Can make copies with the use of your smartphone. Only thing you need to buy is the printer paper. Comes with a few free sheets of photo paper which was a bonus surprise. HOWEVER: The setup is hit or miss. Pray to the printer gods for good luck, because it seems like the setup depends entirely on the whims of the machine and no technical reason. Comes with instructions, but if it doesn’t setup the way it explains— you’re on your own. The only advice they give is to “troubleshoot.” After a few hours of struggling and finally deciding the do the opposite of what Canon recommended did my printer finally connect. Sometimes it still doesn’t want to work with my computer but I think I’m enticed it to work with my phone. Setup aside, it’s regardless a great printer. If you’re willing to put in the effort and confusion of setting it up then you’re rewarded with a printer you can’t beat for the price point. ... show more

  • Connection issue
I should have read thru the Reviews more closely before purchasing. I wanted an inexpensive wireless printer to use with my iPad and Phone, and this seemed to be it. And it probably would have been if it had actually connected. I tried a dozen times to get it connected and it faulted every single time at the same spot. Everything went very smoothly until this point. The printer showed in my iPad Settings/WiF. The WiFi and Network lights were green lit on the printer panel. But then when I tried to connect the printer to my router, it faulted - EVERY time. The app brought up the printer name, asked if I wanted to add it to my personal WiFi, I entered yes, entered my router password, and.......... NOTHING. The app said it could take 90 seconds. It just kept clocking. And an orange SOLID light appeared on the printer panel warning button. No flashes. Solid. The troubleshooting guide showed error codes based on the number of flashes, but it wasn't flashing. NONE of the times it happened, was it flashing. Most of the orange flashes in the guide had to do with ink levels. I hadn't printed anything but I even tried taking out the two starter cartridges that came with it, and replaced them with the new cartridges I also purchased. Nope. I started all over with the new cartridges and it stopped at the same point, same orange solid line. I even tried Canon support. I'm not the sure the person I was dealing with ever saw an actual printer, but kept insisting the orange light should be flashing. That was it. Either return it or smash it out the window of my house. I think it would be a nice little low-use printer, if it actually ever connected........ ... show more

  • Simple and easy to use Simple and easy to use
I basically needed the cheapest printer I could get that would hopefully work as I had to print a bunch of shipping labels, this worked great. Took maybe 10 min max to set up; connected to my phone and boom, was printing right away. I guess it might be a little show but for how affordable it is, totally worth. Works fine, easy set up, relatively small I just stuck it in our closet. would 100% recommend for anyone who needs some simple prints fast. ... show more

  • After You Get This Setup, Best Printer I've Ever Owned
Hello, I bought an Epson off Amazon previous to this machine and just through it away due to quality and ink costs. Took a gamble on this one because of excellent reviews and I'm super impressed. Its stable, fast, cheap ink and amazing quality! Just wanted to say a few words about this printer because its a little strange to setup because there is no digital interface. However, the printer does have an IP interface however that works very well. That is the key to getting through the setup. Here is how I set up the machine: Just follow the instructions up through installing the ink. Then, press the last button on the printer for the "printer information" sheet to print Find the ip to the printer. Put the ip in your browser, press enter. Turn off the administrator password, use the password "canon" to do so. You will be prompted. Go into the network settings and set a static ip! This is the most critical aspect. Set this ip in your printer driver settings instead of the crappy dns record they use that only works half the time. Install the cell phone app if you wish. All done! Let me know if you have any questions. Enjoy. Seriously excellent printer. ... show more
