  • Watch the installations videos
I was daunted by the number of negative reviews reviewers complaining about installation that when I got it I actually avoided setting it up for a week in fear of the installation process. I have a MACBook Air laptop with a Big Sur operating system and I just followed the instruction that Cannon USA has on their website. There is an installation guide video that was super easy to follow. It works fine for now. The one thing that was slightly annoying is that for the WIFI to work you will have to hook up the machine with the laptop, and there is no USB to the MacBook Air so make sure that you have a port to hook up the C port to a USB port to connect both in the set up phase. Also note that Canon states that the hubs may. not connect as you will need to be connected directly and not through a hub, but I didn't see this as possible so I kept trying with or two external hubs until I found the one that works. Usually, an apple C/USB hub will work. Good luck! ... show more

  • I like this printer
I had pretty much the same one that was still going strong after 10 years, without WIFI. I was looking for a similar printer I could hardwire with a USB cord, very hard to find now and went through several with WIFI and unable to set up. It was really easy to set up. I used driver from the Canon website because my computer has no CD Rom drive. Hint: Make sure to turn the printer on before you install the driver. Otherwise the computer won't recognize the printer. ... show more

  • Small footprint and works great!
The media could not be loaded. I just received my printer today. Canon printers have always been reliable for me. I have an inkjet from them and I needed a laser for my small business needs. If I could deduct 1/2 a star and do a 4.5 I would just because of the bad instructions or lack there of and the installation errors. I don’t feel like it’s worth deducting a whole star so I rounded up lol. Here are my first impressions of this printer 1. Setup was somewhat annoying. Here’s why, the booklet instructions were Very minimal meaning there are only illustrations to show you the steps. It would be great if they included even a small amount of text instruction to guide you. In the illustrations I wasn’t exactly sure what step I was completing, And if I did them right. They could improve a bit there. The software for installing. I used the disk that came with it… honestly I would have been better off just going to the website and downloading from there. Note: my printer was in fact installed correctly despite errors coming up. so I had to just ignore the errors that kept popping up saying “installation interrupted” I just went to my setttings/devices/printers and printed a test page to make sure. 2. Printing. Okay so after I had it all setup and ready things went smoothly from there! I’m excited because it prints so quickly. after the test print went so fast, as if it was pulling a blank page through, I thought “what?! Did it even print?!” And yes, yes it did. just very quickly. I tried to post two videos one showing the speed but I guess you can’t. so I chose to post the unboxing video. 3. Small foot print for an already small office. I really like that this thing is so small! It’s the smallest printer I’ve ever owned. I already have so many devices setup in my office that the small foot print of this, makes it so much nicer for me. You can see in the photo and video the size and while it might not be to someone less liking, it’s literally perfect for my needs. I have an inkjet and 3 vinyl cutters setup, and now to add a laser printer small is what I needed. ... show more

  • Great for printing large quantities
This is a B&W Printer, so I bought it to print large number of documents. Thus far, I've printed over 2000 pages with the original toner which now is starting to fade. The print quality is adequate, yet if your files have. a lot of graphics in color, they are not easy to see clearly. Again, for mostly B&W needs this is a rather effective and efficient printer. ... show more

  • Setup was OK, Prints quickly.
As a person in IT, it baffles me how much a pain in the neck printers can be to set up. This one is no different. Setup on my PC was average - Drivers and setup software came from canon.com....setup requires USB connection to begin with unless you use WPS (which you really shouldn't) I chose to set up static IP and I still had to manually create a printer port before Windows would allow registration. I do not know if choosing DHCP will automatically create a port. Linux setup...the LBP6030 drivers are not in the native driver database for canon printers, nor are they available on the Canon US website. I had to go find them on Canon India's website. Manually installing them doesn't work, you must use the install script then register the printer. Printing from Android or Samsung's print service is possible but you must download Canon's print service app first and register it. Then you can go back to using whatever print service you prefer. Print quality/contrast and speed are good, as is expected for a Canon laser printer. All in all this is an excellent, basic good bang-for-buck printer for someone who knows computers well enough to make it work. For the non-tech -inclined folks out there it's worth spending more for a model with better support and possibly wifi-direct function. ... show more
