This is an excellent piece of Calphalon cookware. It is a large, deep skillet that is almost like a hybrid with a wok. It comes with it’s own glass lid that has a rubbery seal around the edge of the lid. This specific line/material is able to go in the dishwasher which you’re going to like because this thing is SO HEAVY. I am able to put it on the top rack of my washer but it takes up 90% of the space there. Seriously, if you need to be able to lift the piece to do the cooking of your food, or hand wash it, you need to know how heavy it is. Not for people with weak arm or grip strength. It has a long handle so the weight of the metal portion is far out from where you’re holding it, causing it to perhaps feel even heavier than it might otherwise. ... show more

I really love this pan, after snagging a smaller calphalon pan with its matching lid at Goodwill and using that one for about a year, we decided to upgrade to a new, sightly bigger pan. This one did not disappoint and it’s very easy to clean! The nonstick has so far not scratched at all, but we are pretty careful to not use metal utensils. My previous deep skillet was a 12" Calphalon Select, a lower grade that was much lighter in weight. It had lost most of its non-stick coating, so I replaced it with the 13" Calphalon Premier deep skillet - a higher grade with more durable non-stick coating. Its much heavier and holds more volume. Great for cooking, but a bit hard to handle when full. If you aren't very strong, consider the 12" or a lower grade. ... show more

Large enough to brown 2-3 lbs ground meat at one time. I wish it was a little heavier so it stayed put on the burner without using the handle. However, it is dishwasher safe which is a good trade off!

This is an excellent pan. We've been using one step above cheap pans and decided to treat ourselves. My husband (who does 99% of the cooking) was skeptical about such an expensive pan being worth the cost, but he RAVES about this pan. We (He) can't wait to switch the rest of our pans over to this brand/line. One thing to note: This pan is especially heavy with the lid on. While obviously less heavy than cast iron, this pan is heavy on its own, but it's near impossible to maneuver one-handed with the lid on. Add food to the pan WITH the lid on? Definitely requires two hands. For anyone with serious arm/hand weakness, go with a smaller pan. ... show more

I needed to replace a skillet that was deep. This one is deep, but it is bigger than I realized. I end up keeping it on the stove top, but other than that, I love it.
