  • An honest review from someone who cooks 3 meals a day for a family of 3
Style: 11pc Cookware Set
Overall, they get a 3.5 out of 5. I got these on sale for just under $200. Honestly, if I could return them (shipped internationally, not paying for the return shipping) I would. Let me start with my daily use and with the positive and why I have kept them and haven’t given them away. I cook 3 meals a day, an average of 5 days a week. Breakfast is usually eggs, lunch might be soup or grilled cheese, or a protein to go with a salad, dinner can be steak pan seared with veggies and rice or pasta. We are a family of 3. I cook on a gas range. I scoured the internet for decent reviews of people who use them at home but on a daily basis and could really give me a good indicator of these pans. I really could not find any decent enough to guide me. I found a few videos on YouTube that said “these are amazing look how nothing sticks” and I’m convinced those were props they were using. I bought them trusting the brand, and this is why I am writing my review. The good: - they are non stick and as far as I could read and research, non toxic. This is what I wanted in the first place without having to buy cast iron that literally no one in my family will care for and it WEIGHS A TON. - at the right temperature, foods don’t stick, my eggs have come off nicely while using a Misto with olive oil (it’s like a refillable Pam can you can put whatever oil you want into, find it on Amazon) - pancakes don’t stick either when the pan is heated to the right temp - they are very easy to clean - heat distribution and retention is as good as or better than my cast iron - they look lovely - I love the pot lids that have the little drainage holes on them for pasta and steamed veggies - thoughtfully designed so that the use of pot and pan lids, shouldn’t, in theory, scratch them ceramic coating The bad: - can’t put them in the dishwasher (I knew this buying them but FYI) - they are staining like the first picture and you *can* get it off scratching at it with your nail but like who has time for that?? I wasn’t expecting this. - they say they are oil infused but I still find I need to cook with a light spray oil to really make them non stick - they are finicky with temperature! Too hot? Food sticks. Too cold? Food doesn’t stick but takes forever to cook. Again, the heat retention and distribution is on par for what I’d expect from Calphalon, but it took me a solid month to figure out you really need to pay attention to the burner and pan size to get the best results. Why haven’t I given them away? I am replacing some possibly toxic Teflon ones I bought 10 years ago and are beginning to scratch around the rims of the pots and pans from the lids. I’ve tried stainless steel and couldn’t get the knack of it. I wanted healthy non-stick. Enter these Calphalons. They’re good enough that I’ll hold on to them, bad enough that I won’t buy them again. ... show more

  • Good value
Style: Fry Pan Combo
I like these pans. Inexpensive and work well for me. I use silicon cookware and when I wash I just use dishsoap and my bare hands. I tend to cook on everything as if it were stainless steel and nothing has given me issues on these pans.

  • Easy clean up
Style: 11pc Cookware Set
I got these to replace my old Calphalon set. The old ones were 23 years old. Can't say enough about the quality of Calphalon. Easy clean up. Very lightweight. The straining feature of the lids is very handy. I did purchase new utensils as well. Very happy with my purchase. Highly recommend.

  • Kind of disappointed....
Style: Large Frying Pan
I wore out my last 10 " Calphalon pan and ended up getting a new stove at the same time(totally unrelated to each other). I bought this pan because I didn't need to add any oil or butter to the pan and it cooks much better on the newer stovetops. I love to sauté and caramelize, but I find this pan just can't handle it. Most of the food ends up sticking to the bottom of the pan and making a bit of a burnt mess ( it does wash right up!). I am use to cooking with a dab of oil or butter so this confounds me. The directions specifically state not to add either oils or butter as it will ruin the pan and void the warranty. I find myself using a smaller sauté pan and then moving onto the bigger pan but really who wants to use another pan when you just bought a new one to do the same thing and more? I've given myself a month of using the pan but it doesn't seem to meet my needs as I had hoped. ... show more

  • Expensive but worth it
Style: Large Frying Pan
I’m so tired of pans chipping and then food sticking. This has a really durable coating. After about 3 months of twice daily cooking - still looks brand new.

  • Hard to use with oil
Style: Large Frying Pan
Pros: 1. It is basically non-stick. Things like scrambled eggs might stick a little, but not bad. 2. It cleans very easy, even with that bit of egg that sticks. 3. It’s light, which was a very unexpected benefit. 4. It’s large, which makes it good for cooking my meals that are cooked in one pan. 5. You probably can cook a lot of foods without oil, if you want to. I don’t think my vegetables would stick if I wanted to toss them in the skillet and stir fry them. Cons: 1. Things do stick, as I mentioned with the scrambled eggs. 2.If you want to cook in butter, or oil, which, of course, you do, because they add flavor, it can be tricky. Take your butter and run it around the pan before pan is totally heated to coat the pan. Don’t let the butter melt in the pan without coating the pan with it. The butter will all slide to one side or separate. Oil is even trickier. You really need to use plastic wrap or a paper towel to coat the pan because, otherwise, your oil is going to slide away. You can try to encourage your oil to go where you want it with a spatula, but good luck with that. ... show more
