Got this bed rail for my mom. She recently had surgery and needs some help getting out of bed. This rail was easy and fast to assemble. I didn't permanently fix it to the bed - I just slipped it between the mattress and box spring. It's very sturdy and hasn't budged. There's a nice grip on it so you're not grabbing onto a metal bar. The light is a great idea (though I haven't actually attached mine yet). This rail isn't just for people who've had surgery or elderly people - it's for anyone who could use a hand getting up. My elderly mother is having major mobility issues, so we're safety-proofing her house. She's has had many falls so I am skeptical of the many products that claim to be safe.
