Easy to use and navigate. Works as expected. We used to use a whole laptop for the monitor in our store-front window, but the computer kept shutting down to update which left us with no video in the window. After getting fed-up with this, I decided to purchase the Media Player. I love that you can put all types of media devices in it.     • Offline media player that runs Android apps!
Think of this device as an old-school iPod that uses your TV for output. It's offline, with no internet connection, so everything needs to be walked to it. While there are many of these devices around, this one has interesting features like two USB ports plus a Micro SD slot, and the ability to install Android APKs like Musicolet, AIMP, and VLC. Download the 32-bit APKs to a flash drive or micro SD, navigate on the home screen to "Files" and open them to install. Sherry from ByDiffer confirmed for me that the operating system is Android 7.1 and that the maximum capacity of the micro SD card is 128GB and can be formatted FAT32, NTFS, or exFAT. Now the bad news. Documentation is poor. The instruction manual is in broken English, and - as always - batteries aren't included for the remote and you'll need 2 AAA batteries to get started. The software isn't well documented either, starting with what version of Android it is running. FWIW, mine is running firmware version 1.1.8, but there's no information on how to update it or modify it. I've also found that aftermarket music apps can start playing while you're using the built-in video player even if the music app was shut down. There's also no screensaver, which is a disappointing step back from the earlier off-line media players. Verdict: at the price, you're not far off from Android boxes that can access the internet. But those are usually loaded with malware so this being offline-only provides some safety. This box best serves low-tech people who want a simple interface, yet like to experiment with apps.     • Just what I needed
Great for playing home movies on anything with anything with an hdmi connection. It is also able to play on the old TVs that use the AV cables. Plays just about every video file type out there too. Best thing about it is the ability to play the next video automatically as well as a volume control feature that lets you adjust the volume without changing the volume on the tv. Very easy to use, and would recommend to anyone looking for a great offline video player. ... show more

    • Very buggy software
Once you copy a file to the internal storage and set it to autoplay.. it will stuck in auto play and you can never get back to the menu to change anything again. You will stuck at autoplay and that's it.. no new image or video can be uploaded.

I have been using my laptop for Halloween video effects (mp4).... I replaced the laptop with this media player and it worked perfectly! Super easy to use and took less than a minute to setup. What I really liked is that I have a USB thumb drive with 20 videos that need to be played in order and then looped over and over. This device worked perfectly. No pauses in between videos...it was seemless and looked great. I am connected to my TV via HDMI...and the remote that came with the media player has volume control so I didn't have to touch anything on the TV. 1 device, 1 remote, easy to use!     • Issues with display dimensions
I originally purchased one of these and second (a different brand- MYPIN). From the looks of both (the media player and remote) it would not surprise me if they are manufactured by the same company. Only the programming is slightly different. My primary use for both is music playback from a memory stick/thumb drive and both do this well. The video interface for this product will not display all of the image. It crops the top and bottom of options display and photos. Changing the aspect ratio does not correct the problem. If you only plan on using this for music playback it performs adequately. If you plan on showing photos and videos I would recommend paying a little more for the MYPIN. I only wish I had noticed the difference before purchasing 2 additional units. ... show more

I needed to get an mp4 digital movie file (a “Yule log” burning) to run on loop on a computer monitor (to create a digital fireplace). This will do exactly that.
