  • Fantastic, when it works
Model name: Model: QL810W DIFFERENCE:USB Host Port
I've had this a few months now. I wanted to have a nice wireless printer to print my occasional labels without having to set up my regular printer each time. When this thing works, it's exactly what I wanted. I pull up the app, design a label and print the one or two that I need. The problem is that half the time I get a communication error. Called tech support, waited for them for a long time and they showed me a better way to set up the driver. That was fine. It worked that day again. In fact, it's worked about half the times I've needed it. Some days I'd get the stupid communication error again. Sometimes I'd print out a whole slew of labels and then it would stop working. Today I'm trying to reinstall the driver again on my mac, and it won't connect. I suppose eventually it will again, but for $450 or so, I expect fewer problems. I bought this to stop having an inconvenience. I still have a major inconvenience. Update 3/1/2021: I haven’t had trouble with connectivity in quite a while, even after power outages, moving locations and adding other computers to print from with it. Whatever the bug was seems to have gone, so I’m improving my rating from 2 to 4 stars. ... show more

  • Prints Labels Fast
Model name: Model: QL810W DIFFERENCE:USB Host Port
I use this printer for personal use at home. It was pretty straight forward setting up the printer and connecting it to my Wi-fi network. I did have to initially connect it to my computer using the included USB cable, but once untethered the wireless features work flawlessly. The labels are easy to load and no paper is wasted when loaded correctly. The printer is very fast and the print quality is excellent. The automatic cutter is fast, however, the label is ejected out with some “force”, so placing the printer to close to the edge of a desk or stand will have you picking the labels up off the floor. I like the P-touch programs that can be downloaded from Brother and used with the printer. Although I haven’t used it yet, I do like the feature of being able to print Red and Black print on supported labels. I don’t like that I have to remove the labels when not using the printer and making sure to reinsert the protective sheet back in the printer when not in use. I wonder how many people have thrown the protective sheet away because they didn’t read the instruction sheets? Maybe Brother should print on the protective sheet not to discard or throw it away! Trying to determine which labels to use with the printer can be confusing since Brother has several label printers and the label rolls look alike. So far I have purchased a box of Brother address labels which work fine with the QL-810W. While this has nothing to do with the quality of the QL-810W printer, the iPrint&Label app for the iPad is pretty lame for printing address labels. I would give the printer five stars if I didn’t have to remove the labels and reinsert the protective sheet when not using the printer. ... show more

  • Great little printer
Model name: Model: QL810W DIFFERENCE:USB Host Port
This printer was a little tricky for me, a not so tech savvy person, to set up, but works great! When you change the paper roll you have to instruct the printer in which paper you are installing but other than that, it’s a great little printer.

  • Prints well and quick, but trouble with connecting to laptop.
Model name: Model: QL810W DIFFERENCE:USB Host Port
Mostly works very well and easily. The difficult part is the connection from my laptop to the printer. I experience some trouble getting it to connect properly sometimes. Other than that, once it prints, it prints well and prints quickly. Love the easy cut feature on it. The installing was also quick and easy. ... show more

  • Great little printer, website not so much
Model name: Model: QL810W DIFFERENCE:USB Host Port
So far this printer as worked very well for me. The wireless feature is essential, since the printer is on the other side of the room from the computer. I have several different label sizes for it, and it's very easy to switch between them. I did have some difficulty getting it set up initially, but maybe that was just me. Once past the setup issues, it has worked great. My one complaint, and the reason I'm docking it one star, is not about the printer itself but the Brother website. Trying to find labels for this thing is rather frustrating. When I try to find compatible media I get a page of pictures of printers, kits, and both compatible and incompatible labels, even after specifying my model number. Then I have to keep clicking "Load More" to get more pictures. Why can't I just type in my model number and get a simple list on one page of all the media compatible with this printer? I don't need pictures, just dimensions and a link to get more details. Very inefficient! ... show more

  • Great printer for PCO's Check-in App
Model name: Model: QL810W DIFFERENCE:USB Host Port
We bought three of these printers to go with PCO's Check-In system. We've been using them for almost 6 months. The only problem we had is where one of the printers is located with spotty wifi connections. There is no ability to hardwire the printer, so make sure you have good access points near the printer. Pros: - Easy set up on MacBook with Brother's driver - Connects easily with Planning Center Online's Check-In application - Quality design - Prints quickly - Cuts automatically - Large power brick with long cords - Includes printer to USB jack for a printer cable for easier setup Cons: - If you have spotty internet, you will need to make sure you set the printers up as Static IP Address - No hardwired ethernet cable option (only WiFI) - It would be nice if it has a display screen when you have an error and for set up I highly recommend this Brother printer for anyone who is looking to do digital sign-in and print sticker labels with PCO's Check-In system! ... show more

  • Not compatible with the current Apple iOS operating system.
Model name: Model: QL810WC
To verify a new printer, Apple uses Bluetooth. After that, Apple will use AirPrint via Wi-Fi to do the actual printing. But this printer requires verification via USB. Apple iPhones and tablets will refuse to use USB for this purpose when installing a new printer, and this printer will refuse to turn his Wi-Fi on unless it’s verified via USB. So it’s incompatible with Apple iOS. Maybe it will work on apple Mac but I don’t know because I don’t have a Mac. ... show more
