  • Best Multi-Function Printer for the price!!!
First off...I am not a "Brother" fan. I've had a few bad experiences with Brother products, but for the price, I decided to go ahead and give this unit a try. I'm GLAD I did! For $199 bucks, I am super impressed with this printer! Set-up was a piece of cake and the fax machine nearly configured itself. The touch screen menu is simple to use. I purchased this because I needed a printer to print 11 x 17 inch prints and most printers run upwards of $500-$1000 for large-format printing. To be honest, hand-feeding each (11 x 17) page is a pain in the neck! However, for the $$ savings, I just turn up the music and continue hand-feeding. I will be hand-feeding approximately 400 sheets of paper...I may feel differently after I finish, but right now it works fine. The unit is quiet and sleek and fits just about anywhere. Don't over-think it like I did...just get one! You won't be sorry! ... show more

  • JUNK!
I've had good products from Brother, and I've had not so good products from Brother. This is the worst. Initially, I was very satisfied with the print quality. Cost of toner for this machine is reasonable. That's all the good I can say. The wireless capabilities of this machine are terrible. I see no point in wireless printing if every time I want to use it I have to reboot the machine. The machine worked marginally well for about a year. After that I stopped printing. I've cleaned it, tried every troubleshooting option available, and it doesn't print. It puts out a sheet of paper with a few black spots. I tried two different new toners (OEM), and it won't recognize them, and therefore won't print because it thinks the toner is empty. This is the second and last Brother printer I will ever own. Replaced with an HP and have had no problems, and better print quality. My mechanic always says "The bitterness of poor quality is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten!" ... show more

  • The color printing has is of good quality. Having 11x17/A3 printing in a machine this ...
A few pros and cons with this printer. Pros: The color printing has is of good quality. Having 11x17/A3 printing in a machine this size is great. Wireless was easy to set up on both Mac and PC and works well from anywhere in the house. The design is attractive and the touch screen is easy to use and intuitive. Cons: The starter ink packs are annoying, they really should include full ones with at least the XL capacity. My yellow starter pack before I had even finished the test printing so I had to go out to the store to buy one before the printer was even fully set up! This was extremely annoying. Second, the printing is not particularly fast so if you are often need things in a hurry this is not a good option. It is also fairly loud when printing, but there is a quiet mode (which makes it print slower). ... show more

  • A gazillion features, wireless connections, A and B size paper capability, yay!
bought this to connect Macs and iPhones and iPAD to be able to print. Set up was easy, print quality is fine for an inkjet, speed is quick enough. This has ample features and the tilting touch screen allows it to hide in a closet and let me send to it, scan from it without it having to take up any desk space, how wonderful to have a touch screen! 11X 17 (B-size dwgs) capability is great for my Engineering work. ... show more

  • Windows 8 Compatibility Issues
This seems to be an outstanding device by measure of features, ease of use, and print quality. Using the instructions and software that came with the unit, my wife was able to set it up easily, but I had to help her with the wifi portion. That was not complicated per se, but she can be intimidated by that sort of set up and I suspect others may be as well. It's really pretty straightforward and I paged through the options on the unit itself, entered our wifi password and it connected without issue. However, having it on the network only highlighted our frustration that it has varied compatibility with Windows 8. My Windows 8 PC (fully functional Lenovo ThinkPad) could not install the drivers on its own and I had to spend 15 minutes seeking and downloading the driver set from Brother. It was a pretty long install but seems to work fine now. Worse, our Microsoft Surface is NOT COMPATIBLE with this unit. My 9-year old has a Surface that uses Windows RT and that is her primary device for homework, drawing pictures, etc. She loves to print and this proved a giant disappointment for us. The Surface found and recognized the printer immediately - and clearly stated that it is not compatible with Windows RT (the version of Windows 8 that runs on the Microsoft Surface and ARM processors, if I'm not mistaken). At this point, I'm outside of the time to return it as it was a Christmas gift and I don't have the energy to go through process of finding a high quality printer/scanner/fax device that will be compatible. Deep in the Brother support website, you can see that the device is not compatible with RT, but it's clearly not something that we were aware of nor is it stated in the product description anywhere. I don't really care that it has it's own interface that allows one to "Access FACEBOOK, PICASA Web Albums, FLICKR, GOOGLE DOCS, EVERNOTE, and DROPBOX accounts via the Web Connect TouchScreen Interface." I think most people use the interface on their PC or Mac, iPad, Kindle, or whatever. This unit will serve its purpose for my wife's business very well, but I will need another printer for my family. Perhaps I'm a victim of early adoption of Windows 8 here, but I remain pleased with the quality of the unit, very disappointed with the support of our new devices. ... show more

  • Hope the 2nd one works & still waiting for the promised ink
The first Brother printer did not function correctly even after 2 lengthy calls with Brother's service rep. Brothers promised to send me an ink supply to replace the $76 that I spent on ink on the 2nd day after receiving the printer that was consumed doing the tests instructed by the Brother's service rep. The replacement Brother printer functions fairly well except for paper jams more frequent than experienced with my previous printer (Canon) which also used large quantities of ink. Overall, disappointing. Shouldn't have believed their ads. ... show more

  • Great printer!
I purchased this model no. over four years and used it excessively until it wore out. I loved it so much, even though there have been two printer upgrades since this model, when I needed a new printer, I searched for the exact same model and paid three times as much as I did four years ago. It's an efficient little workhorse. Shipped timely and packaged well - thank you! ... show more
