Needed to replace my 8 year old all in one ink jet printer. After researching, found this Brother laser printer. I rarely needed to have a color printout so decided to go with laser monochrome printer. Plus I got tired of dealing with ink cartridges messiness and expense. Received the new printer in its manufacturer’s box. Upon opening, all components were there including instructions for setup. Setup was fairly straightforward for me. I have all Apple products. I installed it in my home office along side my iMac. Connectivity was no problem. Added paper and the cartridge which installed easily. Plugged it in, iMac found it, installed software and was ready to go. Tested it out with a print job. Boy was it quick compared to ink jet. And the textual document was sharp and clear. Next tried a copy. Copy was also clear and quick to produce. During these initial jobs I was also impressed by the low noise produced by this printer. My old ink jet, would clatter, bang, shutter, and moan for at least 30 seconds or more before any printing. This printer started and finished printed with 20 seconds. Then I tried a 30 page document. It was finished printing in almost no time without all the noise and drama of the old ink jet printer. Very happy so far. Why didn’t I do this sooner. By the way, the display is touch screen, and is easy to navigate. It also gives you indication of the remaining life of the cartridge. I also generated a print job from my iPad. Worked very well. Great print quality without the hassle of ink jet cartridges

Print quality is superb. Set up is a bit of a hassle but not impossibly difficult. Love the multifunctional capabilities. The toner is super easy to install and you don't have to worry about prolonged inactivity for printing. No inkjets to worry about getting clogged or dried out.

Hate HP laser printers? These are the best!

Took a gamble on this laer printer. I LOVE THIS THING! I've been using my HP laser prints for a long time, but I saved the chips out ot HP OEM laser cassette, but they are A HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR ONE. Yes, they are great quality but way way overpriced. Set up was actually pretty easy, I remembered some things from being a Mac guy and that helped alot, so set up was really way easier than I thought it would be. Prints are top notch. New replacement toner cassettes are very affordable. One thing I was warned about is DO NOT sign up for their subscription toners, they own you if you do and can cause major problems is what I read from reviews. ... show more

This seems to be a very good printer. I just set it up this afternoon, and so far, so good. I went from a Canon Inkjet to this nice Brother Laser printer because I am sick of printers that don't work, and of the expense of the cartridges. This is a reasonably sized unit. 16 x 16 x 10 (10 inches tall). Light weight. I chose the black & white only printer as I almost never print in color and never photos or graphics. So this suits my needs perfectly. That made it less pricey than the "color also" laser printer and only a bit more pricey than the an Inkjet printer...but factoring in the cartridge price, it comes out about even. (do some research on that item). I gave it only four stars not for quality of text or functionality; that is all perfect. But for the somewhat confusing set-up. Once you figure it out, it all goes rather smoothly, but they could have made it less tricky. Don't give up. You just have to hold your tongue right. I like it. Its a good printer. ... show more

14APR2026 UPDATE: Still doing a great job after purchasing a little over a year ago. So glad to have found this little gem of a printer! 20SEP2025: Prints first time every time! Reliable wireless printing, print speed is fast, good quality B&W prints, fairly quiet, and at a great price comparatively speaking. I've only used the print and copy features so far and they're great. Haven't used the scan feature yet. Easy and quick to set up, and intuitive to use. Never thought I'd say I love a printer but I love this one - the BROTHER HL-L2480DW Wireless Compact Monochrome Multi-Function Laser Printer with Copy and Scan, Duplex, Mobile, Black & White. (I came to despise all the other *HP* printers I've owned. All of the HPs had wireless reliability issues. Took multiple tries on 90% of the print jobs, with most of them never printing at all. Based on Amazon reviews and Reddit comments, I decided to give up on HP printers and will now only buy Brother. Whatever Brother is doing with their printers, they're doing it right, and hope they continue.) Bought this printer on March 13, 2025 for $220, am reviewing on September 19, 2025. Haven't kept track of the number of print jobs, but am nearing the end of the end of the first ink cartridge, which sounds about right because it seems like I've printed enough to go through a cartridge. Monochrome toner is the way to go

I dont do a lot of printing and dont really need color, so this has been great so far. I will only buy monochrome toner printers, the inkjet ones are a disaster. I like the "print both sides of page" feature. No problems, would buy again.

No complaints

My printer repair man warned me that all residential printers are designed to fail within about two years. He recommended Brother printers as the tallest among midgets, so I carefully went through reviews trying to find a model with the fewest complaints of breakdowns. That turned out to be this one. No Support for Firmware problems

I recently purchased a Brother Printer HL-L2480DW and could not get through the set-up without the printer tripping the circuit breaker every time I turned it on. My first call with the Support group revealed that if the front panel was open the circuit breaker would not trip. But the printer does not print with the front panel open. The support person put me on hold and after 20+ minutes reported that the issue needed to be resolved by another department. A follow up call was promised. No such luck. Day 2, I placed another call and was told the issue was in another department and I could not communicated directly with them. They would contact me BY E-MAIL. Day 3-No Contact by email. Day 4- No Contact by email from Brother. I call and wait 1 1/2 hours for a call back. I get a call and immediate hang-up. BOTTOM LINE. This is a firmware problem and the printer needs to be replaced by Brother will not resolve this issue. Very Frustrating. ... show more
