I ran an offset stick burner for almost 20 years and loved it. I like this better. After almost a month I've done whole chickens and chicken wings, ribs, pork chops, pulled pork and a loin end roast, a brisket; even hot dogs and a pizza. The ability to start low and smoky and then quickly and precisely raise the temp is key. The temp control so far has been impeccable in 75-90 outside air temps and calm winds. +/- 5 degrees of set point. It will run over about 10 degrees when going from 235 to 300 but quickly settles down. The app is a little wonky and I have not been able to run the controller from my phone, but the basic functionality is there.( I would subtract 1/2 a star for that) Being able to monitor cooker temp and meat temp while in the kitchen doing other things is huge. I find the probe accurate to within a degree of my instant read. When I started looking at pellet smokers a year ago I was considering Traeger, Camp Chef and others but decided I wanted American made and have not been disappointed. When I started unpacking and felt the heft of the thick stainless heat deflectors and drip tray, the cast iron grates and the heavy gauge chassis I knew I made a good choice and it was worth the price - which really is very reasonable. ... show more

    • Where's the Rotisserie Accessory that Fits?

I bought the Baron 500 pellet grill and the "universal fit" Rotisserie Kit but the rotisserie cannot be used with the grill (not way to install it) as the video and written descriptions indicate. The main reason I bought this grill was because it had a rotisserie!! I called the manufacturer and although the CSR was kind she was unable to tell me why the Universal fit kit won't work on my grill. Big disappointment. I 'd like to return it but the packaging is gone and the grill is assembled (and it is heavy) so not sure if Amazon will have a solution. I was told that to get the rotisserie you need to buy the Regal model (about $500 more)...so this is/was FALSE ADVERTISING! ... show more

    • Remote (WiFi & Bluetooth) and App Features do not work!

I was so excited to assemble and use my BK 500 Pellet Grill. It is easy to assemble but keep in mind it requires two people. The problems start when you do your first cook. The WiFi feature on the grill simply does not work, and the Bluetooth feature works sometimes and sometimes it does not. The app is completely worthless and the developer t2Fi is based in Australia so forget about getting proper tech support around the app and connectivity between the app and the device (grill). The temperature probes seem to be substantially inaccurate in their measurements and the calibration feature on the app does not work. Do not buy this product if you want to be able to control the grill via your mobile device! Otherwise the grill is sturdy and well built, but alas false advertising where the technology features are concerned. ... show more

The edges of the grill are 20 degrees hotter than the center and the controller is off by at least 20 degrees (40 degrees off in the center) on my replacement controller and probe. The first controller and probe were way off. To top it off, the calibration function does not work. Cooking larger cut of meat such as pork shoulder is also cooked unevenly -- the side towards the edge cooks much faster than the side toward the center. This grill would've gotten more stars, but was falsely advertised as "made in America", which was a major deciding factor in this purchase. It is made in China. Though, the grill seems well made and sturdy. We've only had it a week, but are happy with how our food has turned out so far. The temp gets hot enough to sear, which seems to be a problem with other "name brand" pellet grills. It's labeled well and easy to assemble. ... show more

I only used my Charbroil twice. the first time I did pork ribs. I wasn't used to the way how accurate the temp. was, but a learning process. they came out great, only I couldn't figure out how to use the app. for observing and controlling temp. I just used it for the second time, using rib eye steaks. after playing with the app, I finally figured out how to use it. Wow, how fantastic. I have never seen such impressive color, and how great they came out. It takes a bit to clean the different parts inside, but for me it is well worth it. Were do I start, I like the fact that you can load the pellets outside of the grilling area, I love the Bluetooth feature, this allows me to be inside while cooking outside. I was impressed with how the accuracy of the temperature of the grill was even in 20 degree weather. The only con about the grill is that they recommend using only their pellets (Smaller size pellet) so that is what I'm doing unfortunately there isn't anyone close by that sells this so I need to order them, hope I don't run out. ... show more

I’m very pleased with this grill overall, the only issue is the temp offset. It maintains temp flawlessly but is about 35deg cooler than the display. This seems to be a common issue. Now that I’m aware, I just make the necessary offset myself. Broil king is sending a replacement thermocouple but it’s on backorder. I still recommend it to anyone. Made very sturdy. ... show more
