  • Geezer approved: pretty darn good
Size: Complete Style: Faucet Mount
Dang. Another pretty good item. Oh well, positive reviewl. We had an undersink water filter that worked well for us for about 20 years. But 20 years took a toll on me and as I entered Geezerhood it became harder and harder to replace the dadburn filter. Until one day I just plain broke the sumbiscuit. Well no filter did not go down well with Mrs. Geezer and so then we tried a Brita pitcher. Ok, but kinda a pain. Finally we landed on this here one. Item comes with lots of adaper type parts and went on drink-sink spigot as though it were designed to which, of course, it was. So far works pretty dang good so much so I bought a second one and gave it to Junior Geezer. The little plastic dohickey on top kinda gets in the way of stuff and things, but not too bad. That;s it for me. Geezer approved. ... show more

  • Tasty water
Size: Complete Style: Faucet Mount
I am tired of wasting money on plastic crap that is just going to get thrown away and help pollute our wonderful planet. So I chose this, mainly based on the brand name as well as all the positive reviews that were given. I received it this afternoon and it took me a whole 10 minutes from box opening to turning the water on and letting it flush for 5 min. So 15 min total time for me, but longer for those that don’t pay attention to the instructions or have any common sense. It’s not rocket science. Also this thing isn’t gigantic, it looks a good bit bigger in the pictures. It’s about the same diameter as a Red Bull can and maybe 4” tall (guesstimate). The water flavor is a whole lot better than it is without the filter. So far so good. I have no complaints on this purchase as the price was good, got to me quickly, and seems to work perfectly. I have no regrets on the purchase, I will buy again as needed and will recommend to others. Update: We have run enough water through the first filter for the light to change (from green, to yellow, to red.) to let us know it was time to replace the filter. (which I purchased extra when I bought the unit) I have a chemical chlorine and a ph tester in which I used on the water both unfiltered and filtered. Our town's water does have a good amount of chlorine, which can sometimes be very strong smelling and southeast Florida in some areas are known for a higher lead level in the water supply. I don’t have any idea as to what our lead level is, as I have no way of testing for lead yet, but when I do I will update that info. Anyway, I can’t recall the initial level of chlorine or the initial ph, but the filtered water came out with what appeared to be no chlorine at all and the ph was 6.9. Both the original and the replacement filters produced the same results. So with that, we are very happy with everything that the system has been doing and have had absolutely no issues or problems with any of it including the aftermarket replacement filters. I still have no regrets on this purchase, with the exception of not getting it sooner. Update #2: Went to visit my mom in Texas and unfortunately the water in her town is highly chlorinated which both smells and tastes awful. So, they use a 5 gal water cooler for almost everything at her house and it is very hard for her to go get the bottles filled anywhere, so I pulled the phone out, opened up Amazon and ordered one and some replacement filters for her. Well she loves it, no more 5 gal jugs to have to fill, use, lift or have to worry about. Plus the machine does not get hot or cold and looks like it’s 30 years old. So with that, the water coming out of her kitchen faucet is not stinking of chlorine or anything else and is drinkable right out of the tap. So as soon as the 5 gal jugs are empty, those and the machine are gone. I don’t have my test stuff with me so idk what the chlorine or ph is now, so I can’t say what the results are but I can say I’ve been drinking nothing but tap water since I’ve been here. I will be bringing a bottle of it with me to test when I get home. So if you have crappy tasting water that’s highly chlorinated and smelly, this is what you need. I’ll be buying another again when or if it’s needed. I have absolutely no regrets on this purchase again. No need to look or compare with another, the price is right, it works very well, is easy to install and change filters. Just buy it, you’ll be happy. If I need another I’ll update again if anything is different. ... show more

  • works well cleaning the smelly, rusty water here in phx az
Size: Complete Style: Faucet Mount
we have terrible water in my apt complex, with pipes from the seventies, which stinks of metals and rust, and this filter works really well to clean that all up. gives me fresh water, and lasts for about five weeks, which is really good considering the quality of my water! the blinking green yellow and red lights to indicate filter levels works really well. i'm glad i chose this model and brand! ... show more

  • Great tasting water!
Size: 1 Style: Faucet Mount + 2 Filters
This was a very easy set-up! The size of the unit is smaller than I though, which is a good thing! Water flow is strong and our well water doesn't taste like well water anymore! Though my husband still likes well water :) The unit seems durable and so far we haven't had any issues.

  • Very questionable decisions were made, it's kind of trash...
Size: Basic Style: Faucet Mount + 1 Filter
UPDATE: At the end of this review I mentioned I would try the PUR faucet filter, I have now and it is indeed much better, get that instead. It has an easy click attachment system, a better stream for both the filtered and unfiltered sides, looks and feels much higher in quality, filter is larger (and supposedly longer lasting), water tastes better, the lever to switch between filtered and non-filtered is also extremely easy to actuate, it takes almost no effort. In the name of almighty cost savings they made some very questionable decisions, the whole thing exudes COST SAVINGS. For starters, the box which is made of extremely thin gauge cardboard which could bend in a light breeze, comes with no seal of any kind. What was the reason for this? Saving cost on tape? Preventing the tape from interfering with cardboard recycling? I doubt those are more important than making sure something that handles drinking water isn't tampered with... Inside the box both the filter unit and the filter cartridge aren't in any kind of bag/wrapping whatsoever, yet the small bag of adapters IS wrapped in a bag. I actually thought mine was a customer return because I've bought a ton of Brita cartridges in the past and they always came wrapped in white individual plastic bags, so I returned this for a replacement and the replacement is also unwrapped, so OKAY let's wrap every Brita filter cartridge in the universe in plastic but not these so we can't tell if anyone tampered with them? The aerator on it (the thing that the water comes out of) for the passthrough (the unfiltered water) is also pretty terrible, it uses a flow restrictor/arrestor that cuts the flow to about 75% of the unarrested flow rate, and the aerator itself is designed so poorly that the stream of water it emits which should be straight, instead dribbles and sprays in a weird pattern like someone trying to urinate with an enlarged prostate. To fix the uneven stream you have to rub your fingertip over the holes/nozzles on the aerator, this leads me to believe the cause of the uneven stream is air bubbles that form and lodge in the nozzles, blocking them and changing the way the stream flows, when you rub your finger over them you pop the bubbles or otherwise dislodge them and it evens out the stream. The filtered side emits a separate stream just under where the filter is located, without an aerator so it doesn't have the above problem, but the stream is slow and tiny. It takes about a minute to fill two measuring cups of water. The stream is also fairly high pressure so if you have a shallow sink and you have it at full blast, it hits the floor of the sink and splashes on everything around the sink. The switch for changing from filtered to non-filtered is a little wing you have to twist, if you get this oily during cooking it's going to be really annoying to grip and twist, even in a clean state it requires some effort to twist. If you're elderly or have poor dexterity in your fingers (ex: arthritis) it's going to become a problem. I bought two of these: one for myself and another for a relative. I use mine to filter water for cooking, I use it almost every day, it's only been about two months and the restriction gauge is almost entirely red though the filtered water flow seems unchanged. My relative has been using it for the same amount of time for cooking and their gauge is almost completely green but the filtered water flow has completely stopped, it drips maybe ten individual drops of water per second. The small filter size, the short filter lifespan and the price for the filters are altogether criminal, it makes this whole concept trash, you're going to be replacing tiny expensive filters frequently. It's so bad it's made me reconsider the whole thing, I ordered a PUR faucet filter and I'm going to try that instead, if it's better I'm going to give one to my relative and we're ditching this junk. ... show more
