I like water. Good water more specifically. I buy the fancy bottled water. I know, I am ridiculous. But this filter does my fridge proud. It was easy to install. Then run some water through it to get it flowing and clean it out a little. Then you have great tasting water. Simple, easy, and nice. It lasts us about 6 months, and I am a pretty heavy user, but the fridge notifies us when it is time to switch to a new one. They deliver it quickly and I have never gotten one damaged. This was really easy to replace, and worth the money spent to have clean filtered water again. I didn’t realize how bad our old one was until we bought a new one that didn’t leak, fit well, and gave a stronger flow. Quality is great! I was not happy with this unit at first. Like so many others, mine would fly out and leak water when pressing the water release. I started the return process and began looking for a new refrigerator. Then I found some information that these filters had been redesigned since my purchase (prob 10 years ago), and the water filter base could not latch on to these newer filters. After searching on repairclinic.com, I found the part for $61.90/free shipping, and reviews stating how easy it was to repair. I received the water filter base 2 days after ordering, and it might have taken me 40 minutes to replace (Just because I was being careful). All you need is a phillips screwdriver and a 1/4" nut driver/deep socket. You need to shut of the water first, and I would recommend removing the light bulb because it is hot and your hand needs to get in there. Here are the steps 1. In the rear right top, using the 1/4" nut driver/socket, remove the hose cover. 2. On the front panel (where temp controls are), there are 3 screws that need to be removed with the 1/4" nut driver/socket 3. On the left side top, remove the screw closet to the front with the 1/4" nut driver/socket 4. In between the 2 phillips screw holding the water filter base in place, there is 1 more 1/4 nut to take out. Now that you can drop it down, remove the 2 phillips screws holding the water filter base in place 5. Remove the 2 phillips screws holding the filter release latch in place 6. Remove the 2 water hoses from the rear of the water filter base. 7. Turn the water filter base so you can remove the release latch, and remove the old water filter base 8. Put the new water filter base in place, turn it to feed the release latch back in, push in the water hoses (they will lock once pushed in far enough), screw water filter base in place (2 phillips screws). 9. Put screws back in that hold the release latch(2 phillips and clips) 10. Put all of the screws you removed with the 1/4" nut driver/socket back in place 11. slide new filter in, and everything works again Sure this was a terrible design flaw by Frigidaire, and I will never purchase an appliance from them again, but $62 and 40 minutes is better than purchasing a new fridge at this point.
