Very happy with this pergola, however, one star dinged for assembly. It was a bear. My only advice is to follow the directions and pay attention to orientation of posts and beams; it makes a difference. For example, the center beams that the center roller attaches to has to be in the correct direction or you will not have the latching mechanism since it’s only on one side of the beam. It can be installed on either side, but you have to make sure it’s on the side you need it on. Pay attention to the numbered parts; some look exactly the same but they’re not. Happy I bought this. Took maybe 4 hours to assemble and needs 2 people for a few of the steps. I felt the instructions were straightforward with just a couple of steps needing a little extra interpretation to figure out what to do. Arrived in good condition and all parts are there. It looks good and is clearly intended to be a permanent structure. We had some decent wind after installing (not a storm, but a steady breeze) with the cover extended and it seemed very capable. No twisting or shifting of the structure. I'd still suggest pulling back and securing the cover for a storm but was happy to see that it isn't flimsy. ... show more

12x16 measured pretty close to size. Bought bigger because size down I saw review that measures smaller the expected. It was true to diagram size on site but a bit taller then expected. Arrived in good condition with a minor scrape or ding. It's outside so I don't expect it to stay perfect. Metal is thin so it can be easily bent or damaged. Direction are completely invaluable. Not great instruction at all. Need to have patience and time to put it together. And at least two people needed. Over all happy just have to level and anchor it and time will tell. ... show more

We purchased this pergola to replace the umbrellas we had. We needed something more stable in the wind. This pergola has been absolutely fantastic and it’s even better now that we were able to buy additional shades. Overall, I like it but ... it has some issues. The assembly instructions are pretty unclear. I probably assembled and disassembled parts of this thing 3x after realizing how it "should" be assembled due to the vague instructions. Also, my main gripe is that the overhead canvas canopies do not lock in place, either fully extended OR retracted ... they just kind of blow back and forth if there is any wind, or slowly slide back by themselves. The center rollers appear to have a silver latching mechanism, but they do not actually latch or do anything. I guess I'm going to have to rig up some way of securing the canopies in position somehow ... ... show more
