Description

Thanks to Endurance by Body-Solid’s patented center-drive design, the E300 has a natural 21 in. stride rate as well as a low center of gravity and a balanced frame to prevent rocking and swaying. Dual-action upper and lower body movements are aided by premium handgrips and heart rate monitors to help users stay in their target ranges. The Endurance by Body-Solid E300 Elliptical Trainer is programmable with six preset programs, manual mode and two user profiles.     • All I can really say is a huge disappointment all around
UPDATE (6/29/2019): After a lot of frustrating communication and shipping struggles they did in fact send me a new unit. UPDATE (4/5/2019): The unit starting making the clicking sound again. They initially said I could ship it back to them and they would send me a new unit, whereupon a rep sent me a FedEx ground return label. I called FedEx Ground and they said the unit is too heavy for Ground, it needs to have two labels to separate the weight, or it needs to be shipped freight. I then contact Body Solid rep again to ask for advise and he tells me that it needs to ship freight (ok, so why did they send me Ground return labels). So now I'm stuck with a broken unit and no means to take it with me to Texas as they informed me incorrectly to screw up the timing of everything. Terrible experience overall, please buy from someone else if you are willing to spend this much money. All I can really say is a huge disappointment all around. First there was an issue with the shipping as a representative from iFitnessDirect could not give me a straight answer with regards to the shipping date. This went on for a few days, and the item eventually arrived about a week late. Next, after spending about and hour and half getting it installed, immediately after plugging it in for the first time it powered up fine with a working display, however there was a loud, continuous clicking noise coming from the center drive. I left the power on for a few minutes and the clicking noise did not stop. I decided to unplug it to not cause anymore damage. Needless to say I went through a lot of effort to not even be able to use the machine. What a waste of time that I can never recover. I plan on returning this item in full and just joining a gym. UPDATE: A representative from iFitnessDirect and Body Solid Inc. worked with me to get detailed instructions sent on how to fix the unit, so thats what I ended up doing. Took me a couple hours on a Saturday, but is better than having to return and wait for a new one. Both of the representatives were very attentive and cooperative throughout the entire ordeal, and iFitnessDirect even arranged for a local company to come out and fix it at their expense if thats what we preferred. I have increased my score from 1 star to 2. I would have given it 2.5 but I could not and 3 starts seemed to high for everything I went through. However, I want to make it clear the review is for the entire experience and not necessarily on the quality of the product. ... show more

We love the eliptical and both use it a couple times a day about 5 days a week. It is very smooth and quiet. It was a great purchase. The only disappointment is that the timer only does 30 minutes whether you set it for a shorter time or longer time. Must be an issue with the computer. But everything else including the resistance levels work fine. ... show more

    • An amazing piece of equipment
An amazing piece of equipment. It's quiet and compact, but excellent quality. Gives me a great workout. I'm very impressed with how smooth it is. Sure, could use 20 more programs, but the random is great and the speed training plus hills is tough. I put it together by myself. Was very impressed with how the hardware for each step came labeled in individual bags. That saved me tons of time measuring and counting bolts to make sure I was using the right ones.     • Solid, smooth, and high-quality elliptical
I recently moved to a small town with no fitness center so I decided to purchase an elliptical for exercise on days when I can't manage to exercise outdoors. Because of space constraints, I quickly decided on a "center-drive" elliptical (I know that there are front- and rear-drive models which fold, but all of these were too flimsy and wobbly. I initially discovered the Nordic Track A. C. T. line, but heard too many negatives about the current state of the Nordic Track brand to take a chance on one. Which brought me to the Body Solid line of ellipticals. I have a Body Solid Squat Rack and some bumper plates, so the brand was familiar. The Endurance E300 is in the middle of the range; the lesser model has a display I didn't care for, and the higher-end models seem to be built on the same mechanism and add things I didn't care about, like a wireless heart rate monitor and adjustable stride length. So I ended up choosing the E300. It probably doesn't matter too much where you buy from; it seems as if everyone on the internet, including Amazon Marketplace sellers, drop ship the item from Body Solid. So it will ship common carrier on a pallet from the Chicago area. And everyone sells it online for about 20% off list price. I ended up not buying from Amazon Marketplace because I found a Black Friday coupon which could only be used direct with the retailer I chose. Quality and Design: It seems as if everyone, including Body Solid, labels their equipment as "club quality" or "commercial grade" or such. I have no idea what this means. I will say that the E300 is well constructed, with a few exceptions. The unit is made in Taiwan. It is constructed of thick steel, with high-quality (robotic) welds and a good powder coated finish. There are gussets at high-stress areas. As far as I can tell, every pivot point has a needle or ball bearing; there are no bushings. This should translate to long-lasting smooth performance. From this standpoint, the machine could stand up to a heavy-use environment. Just a couple of issues. First, the unit is powered by a wall wart and the connector plugs into the side of the machine. It is vulnerable to damage, especially if used by people who don't notice such things (being an engineer and tinkerer, I relocated the connection on my elliptical to avoid the possibility of damage). Second, the plastic covers over the side mechanism look like they are made to step on when getting on or off the machine. They are just plastic and cannot be used as steps! There are small "no step" decals on the top of the covers, but sooner or later an unfamiliar user would step on them. The control console offers an adequate number and variety of programs, as well as the ability to create custom programs. Unpacking and Assembly: All of the parts were well protected in the box. Each part, and each bag of hardware, is labeled with a step number. The smaller parts are on top, with the heavy base assembly on the bottom. I brought all of the small parts into the house. I ignored the "read me first" paper because, well, I'm a man. I proceeded to then carry the heavy base into the house. On a good day I squat about 275 so it wasn't too hard, just awkward. I then opened the "read me first box." In it I found the parts for step zero - the wheels which go on the front of the unit, and two small handles which go in the back of the unit. The idea is that you install these parts on the heavy base and roll it right off the box bottom wheelbarrow style. Nice attention to detail! I was doing laundry and texting in between assembly steps. With this, it took me 65 minutes to be ready to use the unit. Only a couple of issues with the instructions. First, prior to step 1 is the instruction to not tighten all fasteners until told to do so. In the last step is the instruction to tighten all of the fasteners. Unfortunately, by this time, some of the fasteners will be covered up and impossible to fasten. I noticed this as I went along and made accomodation for this, but it would trip up someone following instructions literally. Second, the pedals / arms are labeled "R" and "L" but the instructions don't make clear if this refers to looking at the front of the machine or looking at the back. [R is Right as if you are on the machine exercising]. Use: When I first got on the machine, I noticed a terrible wobble and was dismayed! Then I noticed that one of the four feet was on an area rug. After fixing this, there was still a slight wobble. A few minutes adjusting the threaded feet fixed this and the unit was rock solid. The unit is very comfortable; the stride seems to pretty well match the Precor elliptical I had been using at the fitness center I was a member of before my move. Very smooth and stable. The unit is quiet enough that the TV doesn't need to be excessively loud and it doesn't disturb someone else in the house. I have used a lot of elliptical brands at health clubs, and have tried a lot of cheap ones in big box stores. This one feels like a machine you would find in a health store. Smooth, solid, wobble and vibration free. The resistance (magnetic) is smooth and has 20 levels, and the fitness programs are adequate. The display is OK. There are 4 numeric fields across the top: "Time Distance Speed Strides/Min" and "Calories Pulse Level Calories/Hour". The unit alternates between the first four or the second four, or you can freeze the display to one or the other. Below that is a large dot-matrix array. On the left is a vertical bar to indicate current level. The majority of the display is either a lap diagram that marches around, with a "miles" number in the middle, or a graphical representation of the program you are on. This display is on the lap diagram for 20 seconds and the program display for 10 seconds. I would prefer to be able to fix the display on the program, but this cannot be changed. The unit has stationary handles which include heart rate sensors. I never use a heart rate sensor. Having said that, I made a point of trying this feature on the E300. They didn't work well for me. They registered fairly quickly, but don't seem very accurate. If this feature matters to you, be aware of this limitation. UPDATE: After using the unit for 6 weeks, I have discovered that the monitor is accurate, it just takes a while--up to 30 seconds--to give an accurate reading. The first few readings will not be accurate, but it will eventually give an accurate rate. Logistics: I love the compact size of this machine! I didn't have a whole room to dedicate to an elliptical, and this one fits the bill. The footprint on the ground is about 30" x 50"; in use the foot pedals extend forward and back 6 inches. The front wheels and rear handles make the unit easy to move as well. At about 30" wide, it will fit through a standard 32" home door, but the door will probably have to be removed since an open door projects into the door opening. Pros: Solid construction Ball or needle bearing instead of bushing Easy assembly with (mostly) clear instructions Compact Smooth and Quiet Cons: Vulnerable power cord Plastic mechanism covers vulnerable to damage if stepped on Heart rate monitor not accurate Overall Impression: I am very happy with this unit! It feels just as smooth and stable as a unit you would find in a health club, but cost much less. On the basis of the sturdy construction and bearings rather than bushings, it will last essentially forever in a home setting. And the unit would stand up to much heavier use, unless a careless user broke the power plug-in or one of the mechanism covers. The display is a minor annoyance that I can live with, and the inaccurate heart rate monitor isn't a concern for me. I like the fact that it doesn't take up half of the room and it is easy to move. Because of the vulnerability to damage of the power cord and the plastic covers and the display and heart rate monitor, I an not going to award 5 stars. But I feel bad about only giving 4; I wish there were an option for 4.5 stars! ... show more
