  • Not so "classic" Chambord Copper Classic Teapot
Size: 44 oz. Color: Copper
“The details are not the details. They make the design.” One of my favorite quotes from Charles Eames. With this thought in mind, I review the Chambord Copper Classic Teapot, 44 oz. I have an older version of this teapot in stainless steel from 2003. I broke the glass bowl about 2 years ago and discovered Bodum does not sell replacement parts for this teapot. On their website, I was reluctant to spend $50+shipping for a new one, just to get the glass part. The designer in me eventually caved in and bought this copper version for $43+free prime shipping. At first glance it looks the same. However, after I carefully unscrewed the more flimsy copper-plated metal frame to get the glass bowl and place it into the old stainless steel version... the Copper Classic teapot is not so classic after all. Made in Portugal, the copper-plated frame is assembled, not soldered. The lid is plastic on the inside and the lid handle is also plastic that’s coated to match the copper plating. The strainer is also smaller. Also the lid seems to sit a little too low, so the opening of the spout is much smaller than I remembered. I have to pour more slowly. As for the glass itself, I hope Bodum didn’t compromise on that too so this beautiful teapot can last for another 10+ years. ... show more

  • Beautiful and functional - mostly.
Size: 44 oz. Color: Copper
Likes: * Lovely, simple design * Can make a large pot of tea * Large basket size allows for water to flow through/steep well * Sturdily made with good materials * Insulated copper top helps hold the heat Dislikes: * Basket has to be placed carefully - has a tendency to fall into the pot rather than being suspended * That being said, when the basket is corrected seated, it doesn't work well for smaller amounts because of the large gap between at the bottom. Overall, this is a very good purchase. ... show more

  • Gorgeous piece for your kitchen
Size: 44 oz. Color: Copper
This is a solid 4 out of 5. Esthetics are a solid 5, would be higher if scale went that way. It's gorgeous to behold, prettiest teapot I've ever had. Note that the misty white band on the photo is probably steam from the tea and teapot is clear. Usability wise ... it's a 3.5 or so ... sadly. Issues: the handle isn't very comfortable to hold when tea pot is full (get quite heavy). The lip where tea pours from doesn't seem big enough by just a little though. Steam often gets inside the lid (which is dual layer) and you have to make the effort to shake out the water after washing. Most annoying though, is that the round handle on the lid gets really hot, you can't touch it with bare hands to hold it in place for pouring or to lift it to add water. Overall, recommended, even though it's a bit of a premium price I think overall is more then worth it. ... show more

  • 4 and a half stars
Size: 44 oz. Color: Copper
This teapot is soooooo pretty. I just love it so much, the only thing that drives me crazy is that the mesh strainer for the tea leaves uses a prong design to keep this part in the teapot. Well, everytime you take it out or put it in, it no longer has the same shape to it, so it lies a little crooked or just fall down. Other than this design flaw, I really love this teapot. I actually got two.... because I could forsee that the prongs would be an issue. I just gave up eating for a few days to justify buying another one, but it was worth it. ... show more

  • Well built; has filter; average heat retention; unsecured lid
Size: 44 oz. Color: Copper
A very high quality tea pot. It includes a filter. I don't personally care for its look, but opinions are opinions, and you already know what it looks like. In terms of functionality, it is terrific and I highly recommend it. My only non-aesthetic criticism is that it does not retain heat any better than average. I'm the sort of person who likes to make a pot and sip on it for eternity, which means that I have to re-boil the tea fairly often. All in all, this is the best pot I've had. UPDATE: There is no way to secure the lid. If you tilt the pot too far over, the lid will flip off and cause a mess. I have deducted a star because of this design flaw. ... show more

  • Amazing delivery!
Size: 44 oz. Color: Copper
I am shocked to receive this so quickly. It traveled half way around the world in just a few days. Amazing! This teapot is elegant and functional. I have the matching creamer and sugar set, and also a few of the copper storage jars. They are impressive when displayed together. They are made in Portugal and every piece is absolutely gorgeous. ... show more

  • Cover gets a little hot
Size: 44 oz. Color: Copper
This seems to be a new cover design, which you basically have to take off to fill bigger cups, otherwise it will take for ever. The cover also gets rather hot, in comparison to earlier models, which had a separate "cover handle". Still makes very good tea!
