I really enjoyed these snow shoes until the rivets ripped out of them. We made 3 trips to Lake Tahoe and on the third when I went to take them off I noticed that the rivets had torn through the plastic at the heel and the tail section. To be fair I am 6' 270 pounds. It upset me that when I contacted the manufacturer to see if I could purchase replacement parts they completely ignored me. ... show more

Ok, first off I did not purchase them through Amazon but in hindsight I wish I had as it would have arrived quicker and w/ free shipping. I got the 10x36" Ridge kit as apposed to the smaller size shown, but the features are reflective of all in this line regardless of size. These were a present to myself to celebrate the 50th anniversary of my first pair of ash/rawhide snowshoes back in 1971 (Tubbs "Green Mountain Bear Paw"). These Ridge shoes by Yukon Charlie are really great! I like the crampon spikes underneath that will grip in deep during ascent/descents, I like the lightness and ruggedness of the equipment and MOST of all I LOVE these bindings!!! You simply slip your toe into the toe area, slide the heel strap up onto your boot and use the large easy to turn ratchet knob to your desired level of tightness...cables pull everything in all at the same time. Turn-turn-turn-DONE! To loosen or remove: there is a pull cord that you lift and move to the side which releases the ratchet, allowing you to slip your boot out again. Wearing these I never experienced any loosening or coming undone along the way. No fumbling with buckles!!! As for the poles...no issues, seem very nice. And the included carry bag keeps everything neatly in my trunk ready for the next excursion. ... show more

UPDATE: Glad they were ordered through Prime. First pair arrived broken, fast ship of new pair. biggest complaint I have on these shoes is that they're very difficult to get off. So if you topple over in the snow for some reason, yeah yeah… I don't plan to topple over either… But if you do, you're stuck. Which really prevents me from using these under many conditions. that said they are lightweight, as advertised, they walk in the snow very well, are easy to use, even descend moderately steep icy inclines quite well. so overall, giving these a two, instead of a one. If the manufacturer had commented here as suggested, might have been able to make it a bit more. Ah well… YMMV Note: Poles are VERY strong!! Poles alone I would give 6 stars to! Old Review: light and awesome looking... decided to test fit before hitting the snow the tomorrow, of course, and brand new out of the bag, with tags still attached, one of the bindings fell apart. Returned to Amazon for exchange. We'll see how it goes.. but dang.. I sure have no confidence in these things now. Will update after receive replacement. Can't go lower than a 1-star though can we?
