Plus, metal guards cover the jaws for enhanced safety, and the corded design means you’ll never run out of power. The Black & Decker LP1000 Alligator Lopper 4.5 Amp Electric Chain Saw is an ideal tool for pruning tree branches up to four inches in diameter, cutting branches into manageable pieces, and cutting fallen branches after storms. Its 4.5 Amp motor provides powerful, fast cutting and its innovative clamping jaws grab and cut in one easy motion. Also included is a heavy duty cutting bar and chain to deliver fast cutting of thick branches and logs. P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); From the Manufacturer Take a big bite out of fallen trees, tree limbs and brush with the Alligator Lopper, a revolutionary new cutting tool that provides chainsaw- like cutting performance in an un-intimidating and easy to use tool. With its scissor-like action, the Alligator Lopper’s rugged metal jaws clamp onto logs and thick branches, as well as smaller tree limbs and vines and then saws through them with ease. Once limbs and branches are on the ground, the Alligator Lopper is perfect for chopping them up into manageable pieces to throw away or into your fireplace. The Alligator Lopper is ideal for tree pruning, clearing brush, storm clean-up, cutting firewood and more, and is a great alternative to chainsaws, manual loppers, handsaws and clippers. The Alligator Lopper’s jaws offer the ultimate in controlled cutting. The rugged metal guards that cover the jaws protect you from the cutting chain and immediately snap back over the blades once the cut is complete. The Alligator Lopper’s jaws also mean it does not skip around like chainsaws when starting to cut. The Alligator Lopper cuts side-to-side instead of from top to bottom as with traditional chainsaws. This sideways cutting prevents burying the cutting chain in the dirt as the chain cuts though, which can quickly dull a regular chainsaw. The Alligator Lopper also makes it much faster and easier to cut logs since you don’t have to prop them up on saw horses or other logs. Just grab them in the Alligator Lopper’s jaws and cut right through. The Alligator Lopper’s auto chain tensioning keeps it in top cutting form. Just loosen the bar retainer bolts with the included wrench and the bar automatically takes out the slack and adjusts the chain’s tension perfectly. See more

  • Easy to use
Style: Lopper Chain Saw
I’m a 65-year old woman and I use this tool with ease! I love that the chain is covered & it is easy to use and maintain. I’ve cleared branches (large and small) from 6 felled trees. Absolutely the best buy I’ve made in years.

  • Super Tool!
Style: Lopper Chain Saw
I was very skeptical of the reviews, but I decided to try the B&D Alligator Loper out. I'm impressed. The claims in the reviews are true. My wife and I are clearing bamboo.I was cutting the bamboo with a Stihl chainsaw and it worked ok although noisy and tiresome with all the refuels and sharpenings. This tool is 2x faster and quiet. I am glad to see that B&D got it right on this baby! Buy one it's AMAZING! ... show more

  • Great for trimming hardwood splits
Style: Lopper Chain Saw
I use this for trimming soda can diameter oak, hickory and cherry splits down to my preferred size for my offset smoker. It chews right through them. It feels much safer than using other power tools for this purpose. It requires just a drop of chain oil each time I use it. Awesome tool.

  • Safty first.
Style: Lopper Chain Saw
I really like this saw. This is so much safer than a hand held mini chainsaw. I didn't have much trouble with the cord but the battery powered one would be nice.

  • Glad I Got It
Style: Lopper Chain Saw
Wanted to use this a couple times before leaving a review. Overall, I like it and am glad I bought it. I had a pile of branches back by the deck for, no lie, at least two years. To cut them down to size, I'd have to get out the reciprocating saw. It was a pain...won't get into the whole process I used but it involves stepping on one end of the branch. Since it was a pain, I just never did it. So when I saw the Alligator Lopper, I thought it would be a lot easier. And it was. It was still warm out when I tried it out the first time. Things went well, and I knocked the pile down a bunch. But I got too hot and stopped. This weekend, went at it again and got the rest of the pile done. Finally. Unfortunately, my girlfriend was also working in the yard and had me cut down more branches. So there's a pile again, but I know it won't be around for two years this time. People say it's light, but to me it was heavier than I thought it would be. It's not super heavy, but using it all afternoon and in different positions, my arms were getting tired. It's a little awkward to wield sometimes. But it does a great job. To cut through the branches in my pile, I tired cutting them as they lay on the pile. Worked mostly, but I also propped some up against a small tree and did a bunch that way. When my girlfriend pointed out which branches she wanted cut from the trees, I would try to cut them down in manageable chunks while the branch was still on the tree instead of cutting the branch at the base and have to end up cutting a long, loose branch into chunks later (hope I explained that OK). Worked for the most part and was easier cutting branches still on a tree as opposed to cutting up loose branches. My biggest complaint is the oil situation. They provide you with a small plastic bottle for chain saw oil. The opening for the oil on the lopper is a small hole, so you need the bottle with the nozzle on the end that fits into the hole. Well, the plastic bottle was simply not squeezable. There was no way I was going to be able to squeeze it. My girlfriend tried and she couldn't do it either. It just didn't work. You need to oil it since it's basically a chain saw and you'll ruin your chain if you don't keep it oiled. Luckily, I read another comment on here with the same complaint and they use syringes instead. Luckily, again, we happen to have some syringes leftover from when our cat was sick. This worked perfectly. The nozzle end of the syringe fit perfectly. It was a good thing we had the syringes as there was no way to get the thing oiled otherwise and therefore I wouldn't be able to use it until I figured out a way. My pros: It works. It's safer than a chain saw and easier to operate. It's electric so no mixing gas and oil, making sure you have gas, etc. My cons: The oil bottle thing. Clearly a manufacturing/quality control thing...how can you include a useless oil bottle? It's electric so you're limited to the length of your extension cord. It needs a wide separation to get to the branch you need to cut. What I mean is, the branches my girlfriend had me cut was of this tree/bush thing that had actually grown in and around an old fence. There was no way I could cut it close enough to free it since there wasn't an opening big enough for the lopper to fit. Same situation at its base with multiple branches coming out. Had to break out the reciprocating saw after all so I could cut around the base and around the fence. Frequent stops for oil/chain tightening. I mean frequent. It doesn't hold a lot of oil and you want it to be well oiled. The chain becomes loose easily so you want to stop often and tighten it so it doesn't slip off. It's super easy to tighten. Two nuts on the side. Loosen them both, chain tightens itself, tighten the nuts. Literally less than a minute. But I didn't go more than a couple cuts without at least checking the chain. The chain never came off completely. And making sure it was oiled. Four stars because it works and I'm glad I got it. Minus the one star because of the oil bottle. ... show more

  • This thing is amazing at cutting bamboo!
Style: Lopper Chain Saw
We used it to chop it into manageable lengths. Many times faster, and a lot safer, than the reciprocating saw we had been using. Really impressive and saved us hours cutting long culms down to a size we could dispose of them. Still using the reciprocating saw to cut them down, since ours grows on a hill and the cord would be awkward, but would probably do that pretty well to otherwise. ... show more
