Description

Cutting branches and logs is effortless with the electric branch trimmer garden lopper. Cuts wood up to 4 inches thick in one easy motion. The Black & Decker LP1000 Alligator Lopper 4.5 Amp Electric Chain Saw is an ideal tool for pruning tree branches up to four inches in diameter, cutting branches into manageable pieces, and cutting fallen branches after storms. Its 4.5 Amp motor provides powerful, fast cutting and its innovative clamping jaws grab and cut in one easy motion. Also included is a heavy duty cutting bar and chain to deliver fast cutting of thick branches and logs. With a six-inch bar length and with a weight of 6-1/2 pounds, this electric chain saw comes backed by a limited 2-year warranty. The item as a new sealed factory box includes only oil. P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); From the Manufacturer Take a big bite out of fallen trees, tree limbs and brush with the Alligator Lopper, a revolutionary new cutting tool that provides chainsaw- like cutting performance in an un-intimidating and easy to use tool. With its scissor-like action, the Alligator Lopper’s rugged metal jaws clamp onto logs and thick branches, as well as smaller tree limbs and vines and then saws through them with ease. Once limbs and branches are on the ground, the Alligator Lopper is perfect for chopping them up into manageable pieces to throw away or into your fireplace. The Alligator Lopper is ideal for tree pruning, clearing brush, storm clean-up, cutting firewood and more, and is a great alternative to chainsaws, manual loppers, handsaws and clippers. The Alligator Lopper’s jaws offer the ultimate in controlled cutting. The rugged metal guards that cover the jaws protect you from the cutting chain and immediately snap back over the blades once the cut is complete. The Alligator Lopper’s jaws also mean it does not skip around like chainsaws when starting to cut. The Alligator Lopper cuts side-to-side instead of from top to bottom as with traditional chainsaws. This sideways cutting prevents burying the cutting chain in the dirt as the chain cuts though, which can quickly dull a regular chainsaw. The Alligator Lopper also makes it much faster and easier to cut logs since you don’t have to prop them up on saw horses or other logs. Just grab them in the Alligator Lopper’s jaws and cut right through. The Alligator Lopper’s auto chain tensioning keeps it in top cutting form. Just loosen the bar retainer bolts with the included wrench and the bar automatically takes out the slack and adjusts the chain’s tension perfectly. See more

  • Amazing Cutter
Style: Lopper Chain Saw
Absolutely amazing tool. It cut through a row of 7' bushes with no issues at all. It grabs and holds 1" - 2" branches with ease. I am amazed. Only slight downside, I had to drag out a 100' extension cord, but it was still well worth it. Battery powered would be great, but could affect the power output. I highly recommend this cutter just the way it is. Build quality is great & the cutter functions as described. Product comes fully assembled. ... show more

  • Great saw does the job for yard trimming and more
Style: Lopper Chain Saw
Lately, my wife and I have had a lot of yard trimming to do on weekends, and were struggling with mechanical loppers and a small traditional chain saw, fighting to easily and cleanly trim medium sized shrubs and smaller trees and tree limbs, when I saw this Black & Decker LP1000 Alligator Lopper 4.5 Amp Electric Chain Saw listed on Amazon. I read the prior good reviews, and even watched the Black and Decker video ad on the Internet and went ahead and ordered one. The Alligator Lopper arrived as predicted on Saturday, and we spent the rest of weekend trying it out and were very, VERY pleased with the results. My wife mentioned that she loves how easy the Alligator Lopper was to use, even though she didn't feel as comfortable using our prior traditional 14 inch electric chain saw. The idea here is the control the lower "jaw" gives while cutting smaller branches and limbs, grabbing and holding the limb while the inner chain cleanly cuts the wood. The action is very intuitive, as the Lopper has two handles with switches on each side that you grasp naturally much like a traditional lopper, but without requiring any effort to use. It is also easy to gather up smaller "stalks" on plants and cleanly cut them all at once. Finally, it is possible to cut larger limbs up to 4 inches in diameter much more easily than with a traditional chain saw, again due to the control given by the lower "jaw" grasping the object you are cutting. This control is especially noticeable when cutting limbs that are lying on the ground, as the "jaw" acts as a guard to keep the inner saw away from the ground, and it is simple to cut up longer limbs into easily manageable pieces in short order. We will certainly keep using our traditional chain saw for larger limbs and trees, but the Alligator Lopper is now the perfect tool for cutting up anything smaller. A replacement chain Black & Decker 6-Inch Replacement Saw Chain RC600 (For LP1000 and NLP1800 Alligator Loppers) is available, and the Lopper features an easy to adjust chain tensioner, and even includes the necessary wrench to make the simple adjustments. After all the above "Pros", the only "Con" to mention, as I have also read on several other reviews, was what appeared at first to be a smallish bar and chain oil reservoir on the Lopper. It does come with a small bottle to apply bar and chain oil (not included) into the covered port, which needs to be oiled every now and then (the instructions say every 10 minutes of actual use,) but what I found to work quite nicely was that an inexpensive Oil Can, like (Metal Oil Can 6.3oz) does do the job without any fuss. Problem solved, so I feel quite comfortable in giving the Alligator Lopper 5 stars out of 5. Nice product! ... show more

  • This tool is indispensible!
Style: Lopper Chain Saw
I've been using the Alligator Lopper for YEARS. I've never owned a chain saw, and for almost any job I've needed to do around the house, this Lopper does the job exceptionally well. It will comfortably saw through limbs as thick as 6" or maybe more very quickly and effortlessly. It isn't loud like a chain saw and has good longevity. If you only occasionally need to cut medium sized limbs, this is your tool! It can be a bit heavy after while, but then this is to be expected with the power it has, and it's no heavier than a chain saw. It even has a safety switch in one of the handles in case you lose your grip, and the cutters will stop moving instantly. I like the fact that it's electric since it can sit in my shed for years unused without worrying about gas thickening and oil decomposing. Love this tool! ... show more

  • Truly Amazing!
Although I'm not a big fan of Black & Decker Power Tools, this tool is amazing. The Alligator Lopper is the greatest new tool idea to come along in a long time. It's actually a mini-chainsaw, but much safer to use than the full size models. I bought this unit as I have arthritis in my arms, and the use of Loppers is a painful experience for me. Thanks to this tool, my regular loppers get very little use now. And when it comes to cutting up limbs that are too big for regular loppers to handle, this tool cuts through them like butter. It's so much faster and easier than using a hand saw, you will finish your work in just a fraction of the time it used to take; and you won't feel exhausted afterwords either. There are a few cons: * If you have arthritis, this tool won't eliminate all your pains as it is a little heavy (weighing about 6.5 pounds). And holding it at shoulder height for a period of time could get tiring too. * Like a chain saw, the chain needs to be kept oiled (after every ten minutes of cutting). Black & Decker makes that relatively easy to do, but it's still a pain. * 4 inch diameter limbs are the maximum cutting capacity (which is far larger than that of any regulars loppers you're going to use); still, there are times when it's not quite enough. But I suppose if the capacity was larger, the tool would be heavier and a little more difficult to use on the smaller limbs. So on second thought, this is probably not a negative after all. Final comments: I realize that every design is a compromise between many factors, such as power, capacity, weight, durability, efficiency, performance, safety, and ease of handling. So there are bound to be some cons. No one tool can do everything and be the perfect tool for every job that needs done. For that reason, I don't consider the cons I've listed to be serious enough to affect the five star rating I gave this tool. ... show more
